Because priest have the whisper of the old gods theme .
So these 2 card are 2 mana 2/2 , both are common , both give lackey , both are EVIL (Every Villian Is a Lemmon) , both are insect related,
both are disently good
Conscripter is good. Of course it is not auto include imba, but if there is some deathrattle variation of priest or some other synergy.
Genius in 1 word: trash. None of this “eat” a minion cards actually have seen some good play. Except cube of course. I really dont believe that it will work for this as well.
LOL. The Egg Zoo deck that is presently popular, and that I've been playing for over a week now, says otherwise.
You've clearly never played Zoo.
For past year for sure zoo lock never played with anything related with destroying your own minions. But please, if I have never played zoo lock give me a list of zoo lock with something which destroy your minions (and is actually playing in meta, not in casual). And egg zoo lock is a joke. It have never played too. Of course in casual or rank 20 you may meet everything.
One of the strongest cards in zoo warlock back in the day was Ravenous Pterrordax. Void Terror used to be a staple in early Hearthstone. Sanguine Reveler was a great activator in egg warlock. Grim rally has seen play despite not being the meta for it, will see more play after rotation for sure. And carnivorous cube and dark pact have seen plenty of play in cubelock and elsewhere as you mentioned.
Friendly Destroy effects can be really powerful activators with boons negating the con of destroying a minion in the right deck. They have beem historically pretty powerful. More have seen play than not. We will see if this one lives up but it can't be disregarded on the false basis that these effects haven't been powerful in the past. I'm optimistic it will since token generation could be good in Zoo.
Zoo was really limited by Kelseth and nothing else could compete. Thats why we haven't seen any cards like this see play the past year. We should see these come back to the foray now that he's gone. Particularly if we get any new "egg" like effects.
They all never was even tier2. Destroing you own minions in agro deck without HUGE effect (getting two 1/1 isn't) is very bad idea.
@ludly Thank you for time to write comment. Its nice that you try to rise the point and make objective opinion, not only "it has seen play in meta pogchap". I will try to give you my observation and why I made my statement.
I remember variations of agro lock with Ravenous Pterrordax. That was in Ungoro. But at the start of every expansion we see various of decks until people find what is the strongest deck, we can't count this period as the deck was good. And I remember that lock seen no play in meta until KFT. Of course variations of various decks always exists. In KFT lock get his final look in cube lock and it lasted until now (with few changes, but mostly the same). But cube is other thing as we said. But for example no one cary dark pact to open eggs.
Sanguine Reveler has seen play in the same lock in the begining of ungoro, which seen no play after first month.
Grim Rally it is much better card than Pterrordax and Reveler. Actually here we can already argue will it see play. Maybe eventually depending on meta it can see play. The only reason to say that is not, because I really believe in it that much, but because in my opinion Blizzard try to tune down power of all cards this expansion. We see how 3 very strong expansions are rotating and right now almost all cards, compared to mammoth year are less powerful. So token lock may see some play, but again, this is unknown.
And one last card for which we may talk at all was Void Terror. How good this card play I don't know. Maybe back in the day it was a good card. Right now it is sitting there and getting dust.
So 3 out of 4 card seen no play in zoo for past months. I would say that friendly destroy effects are historically (since Whisper of the old Gods at least) was never used. Except cube, but cube is less destroy a minion, than actually spawn two more from it. So for me only question is will token lock see play? I would rather say no, than yes. But who know. But even if token lock see play, I have really doubts that friendly destroy effect will be part of it. And this is because agro decks never wanted to destroy their minions, this is not how they play.
yay MORE AGRO WARLOCK, will team 5 ever learn
Zoolock has always been a fair and balanced aggro deck (except for turn 2 Keleseth shenanigans).
I don't understand what you're complaining about, especially considering that Doomguard is rotating.
Most warlock specialists ( myself included ) prefer playing a control warlock variant over zoolock.
The fact that team5 pushes for zoolock while control warlock gets less appreciation is the problem.
I think your blinded by bias here man. Control Warlock has gotten tons of support. Especially the last year and a half. Zoo couldn't even really compete with lots of the unfair BS CubeLocks and others heavier warlock decks could pull.
Plus ZooLock had been and is still the more popular deck statistically, helped in no small part by being more accessible gameplay wise but also dust wise for newer players. So it's also incorrect to say its what more people want. I don't know what your referring to by "specialist" though. Soley playing Warlock? Thats still only one specific niche of Warlock then not its entirety.
Lastly its not like Blizzard is even pushing aggro warlock here. They've gone as far as hall of faming Doomguard to limit burst damage. This is more of an activator/value card.

Wow the inter class variety of minions is already getting incredibly diverse.
so we get 2 cards, each 2 mana 2/2. Don't you think that's 2 much blizzard? :)
It's the developers saying Prince Keleseth is gone from Standard.
What exactly E.V.I.L. Genius has to do with Rafaam? Nerubians are more of a Naxxramas thing, aren't they?
maybe its the desert theme like where he was originate?
It looks more like it’s out of ahn'qiraj. Which would speak more to the old gods influence and I still think one of the later expansions this year will feature the return of some old gods like N’Zoth
