When we first saw the Art of Hearthstone book back in April of last year, we were expecting to see it that October. Here we are one year later and Blizzard has confirmed that the book will be coming out next week on October 15. That's not the only thing worth mentioning though.
- The book releases October 15 worldwide.
- There are 1000 copies of the book that are "Limited Edition".
- The LE books are signed by the dev team and features a leather cover.
If you want to pick yourself up a copy of The Art of Hearthstone, you can do so over on Amazon for around $40 USD. If you want to wait and snag one of the Limited Edition copies for $125 USD, you'll need to go through the Blizzard Gear Store (availability TBD) or at BlizzCon where they will have some available.
Quote from BlizzardFrom goblins and gnomes to kobolds and catacombs, the Hearthstone team has drawn up a veritable universe for all the sets that we’ve introduced to the game. The Art of Hearthstone, our long-awaited inaugural art book, compiles concept art illustrations spanning the game’s earliest days to the release of League of Explorers.
Within this fabled tome, you’ll discover early concepts of some of your favorite cards and game boards, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how Hearthstone was brought to life.
The Art of Hearthstone will be available globally on October 15 in English only, with French, German, Russian, Polish, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified) versions to follow. You’ll be able to purchase it wherever books are sold.
Editions
The Art of Hearthstone will come in two editions: a hardcover Standard Edition priced at US $45, and a Limited Edition priced at US $125—limited to 1,000 numbered copies, all signed by the Hearthstone development team—available exclusively through Blizzard Gear Store, and at BlizzCon 2018.
The Limited Edition features an imitation leather cover, and will be seated inside a gorgeous Hearthstone box. It also includes two high-quality prints in a portfolio, and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity—also signed by the Hearthstone development team.
Grab a copy of The Art of Hearthstone at your favorite local bookstore on October 15, or keep an eye on the Gear Store for a chance to nab one of the Limited Editions. We’ll also have some copies of the Limited Edition for sale at this year’s BlizzCon, so if you’re attending the show, be sure to check it out there!
More Hearthstone Books - The Pop-up Book
A new book is coming out of the Tavern on November 6th which celebrates Hearthstone - The Hearthstone Pop-Up Book. Definitely a must-have for any hardcore fan of the game for the pure cool factor, there isn't a whole lot going on with it other than being a nice show piece.
The pop-up book will set you back around $40 USD, which is 38% off the list price of $65 USD. You can pre-order a copy here.
is ok
Considering that they state it's their inaugural one, that heavily implies that they want there to be more of them.
The pop-up book looks much cooler, just pre-ordered
it will get a sequel... prob... ^^
It looks pretty cool, it is just wayyyy to nerdy for my taste ;)
Teen angst?
The limited edition would be a nice collectable that will gain value, if it’s signed by the older designers too (including Brode). If it’s just the current employees, I’m not interested.
Why is everybody upset about the books. If you aren't interested in this stuff, whats the point of throwing a hissy fit about it. The only way this stuff impacts the actual design process is just around an hour and a half of each of the devs writing their names in the book.
That being said, one of my favorite non-literature book I have happens to be an art book for MTG's Innistrad block. The art is just beautiful and it lets you delve so much deeper into the world. Sure the early stages of Hearthstone is just WoW lore, but if they spend the time to flesh out the non-WoW raids (such as LoE and GvG), then it will be pretty nice. These art books are supposed to flesh out the lore, which kinda sucks considering how it doesn't go past LoE, but I still feel like if they do a good job doing it then it is worth it, at least for me.
To bad all this book will do is collect dust when it gets Hall of Famed when Team 5 fails to balance the artwork with the power level of the cards inside.
Better off saving your dust to craft the next cards when the new expansion hits.
Ah so... up to LoE only?
I'm really excited for this book, I’m a big fan of “art of” books in general, and HS definitely has great material for a fantastic book.
It’s just a bit disappointing if LoE is the latest it goes. I mean, that’s back in 2015! The entire years of the Mammoth and Kraken would be excluded? Kinda sad IMO!!
tournament mode died for this

money money money
The sheer volume of hate related to this coffee table book I'm seeing here is truly amazing... it's like people think that Team 5 took time out of developing the game to make this instead of it being a project of actual book makers and marketeers for Blizzard.
God damn it blizzard, just reveal the card nerfs already!
I would just donate them 45$ but I don’t want that thing my home lol.
It would be nice to hear Ben Brode's laugh when you open the book.
- I'm gonna teach each and every one of you to be Captain fucking Greenskin. Get it? Huh?
- Captain who?
- Captain Greenskin. From the fucking...
- The book, motherfucker. From the book.
- Turn your fucking brain on.
What?
I think that was a Wolf of Wall Street reference.
