Well yes and no, they have different turn usage, first u need to draw always on turn 5, no more that this, aluneth to play it on curve that is not easy. Having two similar card would be great, moreover is really hard let it last for 4 turn or more so it is a great tool between turn 4 to 7 to achieve the results of having aluneth earlier than you should have. If you think it will overkill the draw u can always drop an arcane intellect for more burst damage, since it actually feels like a dead card in hand when already in aluneth mode.
What can go wrong if you play this with Aluneth: Sometimes one out of the dozens of cards you rapidly draw isn't playable.
What can go wrong if you don't play this with Aluneth: Aluneth gets shuffled to the bottom of your deck, you never see any card draw, run out of steam, and lose horribly.
1. Draw your entire deck. 2. Generate spells not in your deck. 3. Reduce their cost with Leyline Manipulator. 4. Play Stargazer Luna. 5. Play your cards from right to left. 6. Take massive fatique damage. 7. ??? 8 Profit.
This card has me interested in what else mage is getting. We got shafted in witchwood with every good mage deck taking a big hit and not getting much in return. For sure could see play in a low curve aggro or zoo mage type deck. Might even get Arugal some play too.
How would it combo with Rhonin? The mana cost on him alone is to high to combo same turn without coin and you would draw before each Arcane Missile making them entirely unable to proc the effect..
Ofcourse he means you play Rhonin and let it die. Then you get 3 arcane missles, which you can use to combo with Luna.
This is a great card! Regardless of whether it shapes the meta or not... it can shape the rest of the deck to have cheaper cards or cards that combo which is more likely like the Ghastly Conjurer and other one card generators that have already been mentioned.
(It is great because it is interesting... I don't want broken cards that are no fun like recruit cards)
Honestly, all the talk with Rhonin is really dumb. Firstly you assume consistently you'd have to have board to drop the 8 mana 7/7 and for that reason standard or wild lichking is just better because the taunt can just win you the game. Secondly and more importantly, you get 6 arcane missiles, but if you compare its effectiveness to the board, blizzard and other mage tools are just better? Thirdly if you argue the combos use for face, there are many more effective otk combos that are just easier, more consistent and are just plain better than a 2 card combo that can take up to 3 turns and relies on a card to die, which none presents survivability, no taunt no healing, not much tempo for the costs, too slow is my initial verdict and aswise as consistency not worth running as a combo piece because there are better combos. Does this mean the card will be bad? Its really impossible to know considering the cards to come. Also future cards could really change play-ability of cards that have the status as "bad".
Arena: Considering some of the cards we can expect in arena, look at the 3 mana 2/4 in the time event that let you chose what you draw. Yes that card was better, but when you look at possible cards vs this, its really not bad if you can make it stick. if you have an aggressive mage list in arena so far with a good tempo based aggro curve, and you have a legendary bucket of grull, barron geddan or stargazer, because of the cost and effectiveness you might pick this over grull as a finisher. In arena is playable for sure; no doubt; just not consistent in ranked to combo; arcane intellect or acolyte of pain just seems better.
i doubt that they will implement such mechanics. If that was the case, this card would not deserve legendary status.
I’m a fan of your username. My favourite tree species by a long shot.
How is this a legendary? How is this a good card? I don't see it..
You don't understand the power of card draw? Well then.
...Well then I activate my spell card! Pot of Greed!
Why play this AND Aluneth? Seems way overkill on card draw for me. If I have to choose, I whould choose Aluneth for my Aggro-Mage.
Conclusion: The new Legy is not mainly for Aggro, because Aluneth does the job allready better - if any deck can use this cluncy mechanic at all.

Autoinclude in secret mage, it could fulfill the role that antonidas should do if it hadn’t been so slow.
The real question is, which spell transformed the human-transformed-into-a-chicken into a robo-chicken?
1. Draw your entire deck.

Exodia Mage additional flavour
Artwork is beautiful !
Great, another Legendary to support the stupid Aggro Mage 'draw your entire deck' strategy.
Who greenlit this?

weird card... I am sure this can fit in some Fun deck.
