Hearthstone Tavern Talk: Class Rewards, New Players, Alternate Card Art, Card Reprints
Blizzard has started a new series of posts for communicating with the community called Tavern Talk. Here's the recap followed by the three questions they answered.
- No plans for more rewards for class wins. New Features or Rewards should be obtained by 10% or more of players.
- They want to add additional ranks to ladder for newer players so they can't fight "more invested players".
- Alternate card art hurts good gameplay. You should be able to immediately recognize what a card is by a single piece of art.
- No plans for reprinting old cards, it would only happen after careful consideration.
Quote from Jesse HillEver wondered what goes on behind the closed doors of the tavern? Ava and the crew’s antics aside, the Hearthstone development team works hard on a myriad of tasks to bring you the game you know and love so well. More than that, we also make the time to read about the different issues and questions the community brings to light each day.
Welcome to Hearthstone Tavern Talk, where we’ll share with you answers to some of the questions we see in our community!
Are there any additional rewards for players who have achieved a Golden Hero in every class?
Usually when we add new features or rewards we like to make something that can be obtained by 10% or more of our players. Only very few of our players have the 9 Golden Heroes, and we feel that’s already pretty awesome by itself.
Do you have any changes planned for the new player experience?
We have some small ladder changes that we would like to do at some point, specifically targeted at new players when they first enter the game. The change will add some additional ranks above rank 25 that new players can play through before having to play more invested players. There will only be forward advancement through those ranks, so even if they lose, no one will be able to drop back down.
What are your thoughts on alternate card art or reprints of cards from earlier sets?
Alternate card art is something we have avoided because players almost always use art to recognize a card and instantly know what it does. Good gameplay is very important to us so we have avoided adding multiple pieces of art for a single card.
Reprints are something that we have discussed in the past, but we would want to do so only after careful consideration. We don’t have any specific plans for this in the near future.
See you at the next edition of Hearthstone Tavern Talk!
That's funny~!!
edit, the way he moved his hand , was like saying, the hell is this card???
The worst part about that was it wasn't just a random Magic Pro Player either. It was a world champion player who made that mistake.
ouch~!! meow
I do think reintroducing old cards into standard rotations would be cool, maybe as partial sets. It could also be an opportunity to beef up old archetypes that no longer have enough support to make them viable by reintroducing old cards and adding a couple new ones into the same theme (i.e. C'Thun).
nice :D
I personally think that a reward for all 9 golden heroes would be well deservad. At least, it would be an incentive for people to complete the task. I'd like to know how many people will never try to get them just because there is really no way to show it off...
I'd also like to have not just a reward for that, but some more things going past the 500 wins. I'm currently about 600 wins away from having all 9 golden classes, and I'm wondering what I will do next... Probably, because I relly love the game, I'll just start to enjoy the game whit whatever deck I like, whitout minding stupid win counters. But it's also possible that, considering that normally I'm more a single-player oriented gamer that loves achivements, whitout having some sort of objective to complete, I'll get tired of the game, or at least too tired to play more than a couple of games per day...
I really hope that things will not go that way, and they probably won't, because I repeat, I really love the game, but I would be glad if blizzard make things easier... I mean, how hard could it be to make a new card back for having all golden classes? Or how hard could it be to add a golden star upon your golden hero after achieving 1000 wins? Hearthstone is going on since more than 4 years now, also if is not meant for more than 10% of the players, I don't think it could ever be a bad idea to add a few new milestones for the old players every few years...
I agree. I got my 500 wins on all classes over 2 years ago, and I remember that I enjoyed most of it. But ever since, I barely even played Warrior or Hunter, despite the fact that I really enjoyed playing them. Also I find it weird that you dont give the people that (apparently) play your game most some additional content every two years.
Maybe they should add like a monthly quest that cannot be changed where you need to get 50 Wins with a specific class.
Or something like in Diablo, where your icon gets bigger and more epic the higher your paragon level is. If I got an extra golden portrait at 1000 wins, I'd easily play more of the other classes I currently skip.
Monthly quest? That's a great idea! That would help players to achieve something for the months effort. The card back is not even a month worth of effect. Play for an hour in Rank and you would unlocked it. The game needs a clear achievement system with a UI for it. As of right now, the base achievement system is hidden and had to be searched online. That is ridiculous. Even Overwatch, on its initial release, has a clear interface to showcase the achievements to do. Hearthstone has been around way longer and still no UI for it.
If they have a UI for the achievements, then they can add additional achievements for each expansion and allowing players more ways to gain gold, dust and pack.
Just do these events that reward more dust and gold from time to time and create more rewards for reaching milestones, like 100 victories with shaman: obtain a rare shaman card of your choice, for example
That's what Hearthstone lacks, very small amount of milestone achievement,
plus
1 pack = 5 cards
RNG getting worse with more Expansion, you pool of RNG cards gets + 17 +12 class cards each exp.
After Deathknight exp. The designs are shit. = no hype.
➤➤➤➤Nerfs takes half a year or more~!!!!
The mage weapon is a mistake, why make a card that 100% chance to kill yourself with no way of winning with it
Go fix it , which they won't cause Americans don't give a shit about customer serivice
(all i see is people complain every new post , so that has to be the case)
I could barely play 4 classes in this game . without spending money
You can dovote me all you want becuase you're just avoiding the truth.
I could play all classes without spendning a penny
Shadowverse 1pack =8 cards = hitting timer quicker~!!
less RNG to No RNG
Games take skills rather to 100% luck
no one top teir deck
Monthly Card nerf
Legendaries should definitely cost 1200 gold.
1000gold ~!!(*'ω'*)
1. Don't make old card backs obtainable.
2. Don't make Tyrande or Khadgar available again.
Let special things actually be special.
As a person who missed out on about a year's worth of card backs and has neither Tyrande or Khadgar, I agree 100% with you.
I'd agree with you if this were WoW, but lets be real, the vast majority of unique cosmetics either require you to simply win 5 games (or hit rank 20 for older card backs) or pay money during a limited time promotional.
You didn't exactly raid/pvp/beat dungeon timers after months of work, grind for 1% or lower drops, spend hundreds of thousands of gold, or chase achievements that were gated behind behind weekly lockouts.
HS rewards are generally acquired with minimal effort compared to actually grinds in online games for rare and hard to obtain special cosmetics.
Even if the cosmetics aren't difficult to earn, there is still significance in having them. They are like your souvenir from that piece of the game. Most souvenir's aren't hard to get, but still mean something that you have them when others can't unless they were there, too.
I couldnt purchase any of the 2 heroes due to country restrictions..Why shouldnt i be given a chance too?
The problem with Tyrande or Khadgar being a timed exclusive is that they weren't available to everyone when they came out. Didn't own an iPhone when Khadgar came around? too bad. Khadgar was done for charity and making him exclusive to a specific platform for a limited time also limited the potential donations to the sponsored cause was dumb to begin with? too bad. Live in a region where Amazon Prime was unavailable at the time Tyrande came around? Too bad.
shirts? you want shirts? where can i buy one of these old cards shirts?
pls Blizzard :BlessRNG:
