Upcoming Hearthstone Arena Hotfixes for Thursday, April 19
A round of hotfixes are incoming to Hearthstone this Thursday and focus on the Arena experience. Changes to card buckets, appearance rates by rarity, and below average card appearance rates.
Quote from Jesse HillIn an upcoming hotfix currently targeted for release on Thursday, April 19 (PDT), we will be making the following changes to the Arena:
- Adjusted the buckets for certain cards so that they appear alongside cards of a similar power level, mostly from The Witchwood and Kobolds and Catacombs.
- Lowered the appearance rate of Rare cards slightly and raised the appearance rate of Basic/Common cards slightly. Epic and Legendary cards should appear at the same rate.
- Very slightly raised the appearance rate of below average cards.
These changes should adjust the overall power level of Arena so that it feels like the choices players are making in their drafting decisions are more meaningful.
Our goal is to continue making improvements to the Arena as needed and communicate these changes to our players as they are implemented.
Thank you for your continued feedback.
I managed to beat a Paladin that had 6! yes, 6 Spikeridged Steeds! What are the chances?!
Is this even live yet?
Every allucination equals to a DK hero. Take them AWAY. It's too frustating to see the board cleared every turn by anduin's power or watch an elemental army built every turn. When they come out the game just ends, it's horrible.
DKs cannot be drafted in arena
then play around it lol
I'm really happy they're making some change. For whatever reason, witchwood's arena has been the single most difficult one I've tried to play in. It's seemed like every single deck at every point on the ladder had the potential of being what would be a 12-win deck every other expansion. Granted, my drafts were all fairly good as well, but I couldn't seem to find anything that worked consistently aside from insane pally drafts.
It's good that they are still tweaking the Arena balance. Interesting they brought back the rarity into the appearance equation.
I'm guessing the update hasn't happened yet. My first match just now in a new run was against a mage that had 7 board clears, that I know of.
It's great to make choices have more comparable power levels. However, the arena draft system needs to be balanced by power level of each selection. IE if you get a high power draft choice you another draft choice to offer a weak selection as well. This would help balance decks overall.
Well, they said that they very slightly raised the appearance rate of below average cards. And also that mage deck could have been drafted before hotfix. You need to look at your own deck, not others. Both of my yesterdays runs were 12s, so I'm pleased with this phantom hotfix :D
My own draft offered me 8 Plagues and 2 UI's. So I can only speak to my own experience today.
Change the rewards to i dont wanna see common cards at 12 win...
I'm loving all the arena attention. It'll get annoying if their adjustments keep being as significant as the last few have been, and if they happen every week or two. But I have faith that over time they'll zero in on a satisfactory equilibrium, as long as they keep giving arena the love it deserves.
this arena is sick... i even stopped playing it, because everyone have constructed decks... this change is a must
Keep up the hotfixes Blizz! I know the fine tunning of the drafting system is hard and will take some time, but with relatively quick updates like this, i believe we can get where we need to go eventually ;-)
good change
DK Heroes can be discovered through cards like blink fox, pick pocket and allucination (once also via kabalist courier). If you eliminated DKs from drafting, i think you should eliminate them also from discovering them in arena. I don't think it's fair that only few classes (actually only 1) have the opportunity to get DKs. They are too powerful in arena and should be banned now and for the future.
Just put a bunch of classic Mage spells and classic over powered cards in rogue, priest, druid in Hall of Fame already! so we can get an even playing field. I can not believe they did it so slow, in turn damaging the players who love paladins!
RAISING the appearance of below-average cards? Seems like I'm already getting garbage picks, I hadn't played arena since the Wild event and since then the generally power level of deck drafts has apparently increased, but I've seen zero difference whatsoever, besides getting to choose from 3 terrible cards of different rarities now.
So you mean to tell me that mage will have bigger chanse to get their powerfull basic spells.
remember its based on power of the card not just rarity, so if the commons they get are mostly shit, theyre not going to get a 100+ tier score card
