Battlegrounds Season 7 is coming on April 16th! Check out details about the new cards, heroes and Duos Mode!
Quote from BlizzardOnce Upon a Tavern, there was a new Battlegrounds season, filled with updates for Traditional Battlegrounds and a magical new Mode, Battlegrounds Duos! Jump into the fray with new fairy-tale themed cards and rewards. Whether you’re playing on your own or with a partner, a new chapter in Battlegrounds unfolds on April 16!
With Season 7, Battlegrounds Ratings will reset and Battlegrounds Quests will rotate out of the Tavern. Tavern Spells will stay in the Tavern for both traditional Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos as a regular part of Battlegrounds going forward.
Play Battlegrounds Duos
Grab a friend or make a new one, Battlegrounds Duos is nearly here! We’ve been hard at work on Duos since we first shared it with you all at BlizzCon, balancing and polishing the mode.
The basics of Duos are the same as when we first announced it. You and a partner queue together in a game against three other teams of two players. Teams have shared life totals, pass each other cards through the Portal (for 1 Gold), and fight in tag-team combat to take the crown!
You can swap between solo Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos on the main Battlegrounds menu. From the Duos menu, you can invite a friend to play as your teammate, or you can queue on your own to get paired with a random player and make a new friend! There will be separate ratings for solo Battlegrounds and Battlegrounds Duos, and separate leaderboards.
New Duos Heroes and Minions
With the launch of Duos, we’ve added some Duos-specific Heroes and cards that take advantage of the mode’s new gameplay: 4 heroes, 16 minions, and 3 tavern spells. These will only be available in Battlegrounds Duos, not the regular Battlegrounds mode. Some of these will look familiar to people who played Duos at BlizzCon, maybe with a few updates, and some of these are brand new!
Huge Updates Across Solo and Duos
Battlegrounds Duos isn’t the only story to tell Once Upon a Tavern. Season 7 includes a massive minion update for both Duos and solo Battlegrounds, including 50 new minions, over a dozen returning minions, and a couple new Tavern Spells. There are changes across the whole game, including a rework to Beasts, big refreshes to Dragons and Mechs, and balance changes to tons of minions and heroes! All these updates apply to all Battlegrounds games, traditional and Duos.

wait battlegrounds has a story?
for the 3rd time, they're removing quests: the most entertaining and best designed feature of battlegrounds and replacing it with literally nothing! Why? Because reasons...
Also, I have no idea why anyone would want to play duos. The target demographic for that are people who live this mode. In other words, this is a feature that's only going to excite and benefit people who are already golden customers who would play this mode no matter what it was. Me personally, I like playing BGs casually and the idea of playing a match where I have a completely random person be my partner seems annoying and extremely frustrating. Imagine having a turn that's supposed to be really fun and powerful, but it's completely dependent on the will of a complete stranger. And then you'll have the problem where you do face against opponents who are extremely invested in this mode and they know exactly what theyre doing and destroy you. Ask people who play random PVP in world of warcraft or quickmatch in Heroes of the Storm how fun going against "pre-made teams" is...
By the 3rd time one should have guessed that this is how they always do with added mechanics in BGs, they rotate them while also having some weeks of vanilla in-between. It's a way to keep things fresh while not needing to reinvent the wheel every time, which gives them freedom to experiment with new ideas like the tavern spells that are now a permanent mechanic of the game. And not everyone think quests are the best, some enjoy buddies more, some prefer vanilla even. I think it's great they give a chance for everyone to have their fun.
ofc they have to lock the extra 2 hero slots behind a battle pass for another season
There had better be a Mr. Bigglesworth emote to go with that A.F.Kay emote in the future.
Anyway, this update looks like a lot of fun.
Very excited to get cancer from my teammates miss-playing :)
Make battlegrounds 10 competitors! and make traditional Hearthstone 10 minions slots! Please! When you are at it, make hero Health at least 40 or 50 health.
Woah there son.
Oi! You didn't mention starting with 3 mana and 5 cards! Those are essential QOL changes. /s
That's the guy who played Prince Renathal in all his decks.
That's like 40% of all Hearhtstone players. You have to be way more specific than that.
Though I wonder, what Renethal player would ever need 10 minion slots on the board? 15 card hand size, sure, but board space issues for a Renethal player sounds odd. They barely even use one.
At the rate HS has been evolving, I'm surprised they haven't removed board slots for minions.
