Not worth the payoff with so few cards supporting this archetype in standard, might get better over time.
Skull of Gul'dan mage version
spell mage back?
Mage and DH competing for emptiest deck.
DH's no-minion-cards rotate, so not really.
There also was a Spell Hunter deck at some point.
Is it just me, or does Mage not have no other win condition other than Sif? I mean, they have random bullshit, go!, but thats not really a reliable, isn't it?
in hearthstone, random bullshit go is as reliable as it gets.
“Random bullshit go!” works if the random bullshit is strong enough. 8 mana cast 25 mana worth of spells is very strong, and in most cases, regardless of the result.
Prison of yogg should be an indicator of just how strong even randomness is if generated in enough quantity.
Edit: 25 mana worth of spells at the absolute least, on average more like 35.
Random bullshit go is basically the whole way mage plays right now, with Sif being able to turn the random bullshit into random bullshit face damage once the deck has grinded you out. Infinitize the Maxitude single handedly wins control matchups, with the opponent having to theotar/harvester of envy it out to win (which are both rotating by the way).
The restriction has to justify the effect, i don't think either of these do over spell school mage builds, at least right now.
Hot take: this condition should never be a thing unless the intent is summoning minions with spells. Minionless decks that don't care about the board should never ever be encouraged.
I don't think that take is hot at all, I totally agree.
We're doing this again? Meh. I'm surprised Manufacturing Error contains no reference to Skull of Gul'dan considering the rest of the expansion. Anyway, no minion decks are all about burn and reactive cards. They're not fun for the game.
Damn that's strong. Mage got really lucky this expansion.
Oh sweet mercilful lord it's Skull of Gul'dan
I read that comment as "Oh my God, it's Jason Bourne!", which made it pretty funny to me.
