I know that this is nowhere near as problematic as jade idol was, but I still hate this thing by proxy
Jade Idol, except balanced. Neat.
Yeah like ppl said, this is just worse jades unless there is some more great synergy cards.
Are you telling me that this green man is going to grown larger and larger each time I play it?
I respect the callback. You can't do an expansion about the history of HS without mentioning Jade Idols, but, for Wild, you just play Jade Idol, cause is linially better in almost any scenario, even if your opponent is playing Skulking Geist (and they won't) you can put an extra Idol in your ETC if you are really paranoic. And Jade Idol is not even good anymore in Wild, it used to see play cause Mill Druid was good, but that deck win condition was the Mill, not the Jades, the Jade Golems are pretty slow and the lack of Keywords make them pretty easy to ignore.
In standard I really don't think is going to be at the same level of what Jade Druid was in the past, not even close to be honest. The game is far too different, and this is the only card to make Jades, unlike before that they had 5 different Jade generators. It's way closer to Bottomfeeder or Pogo-Hopper than to Jade Idol. But I guess you can still have a little fun with it with Joymancer Jepetto not sure if that is going to be the strongest Druid archetype this set.
Would Joymancer give you only the first one back, or every one you'd played?
It was said in the Q&A that Jepetto gives you the plain copy of the cards you play "as they appear in your collection" so I guess should give you the minions anyway. But I'm not 100% sure in this case. It depends on how is programmed.
But I assume that if they printed those 2 cards with such an obvious synergy between them in the same set is cause its intended to work that way. I believe that "+1/+1 for the rest of the game" is an enchantment. And if is an enchantment, it should work.
IIRC, "this game" is usually an effect that is applied after a card is played. Permanent applies to a card before its played (in hand, deck, board). Example, Pogo-Hopper's stat increases show up after the card is played. While Bottomfeeder has its stats increased at all points in the game.
So when you play Jade Displays, it is seen as a 1/1.
Though... they have messed up on text before. I can see a world where this is a permanent effect rather than an enchantment. Jade Idol's were permanent stat increases.
Guys, let's wait until we have seen the full support package. At this stage it's more or less impossible to say if this will work or not ;-)
Let's say there will be a minion revealed today that sais "Trigger the deathrattle of all 1-cost cards you played this game twice" and a spell with the text "Summon a copy of each minion in your deck that didn't start in your deck"....boom, discussion starts again from the beginning ;-)
The comment section comparing the power of this to jades is exactly why we’re lucky that players have no say on balance.
This feels considerably weaker than Earthen Paladin or Automaton Priest.
The stat boost AND shuffling are both deathrattles, so silencing them defeats both.
New ones go to the bottom of the deck. With Sunken City rotating out the player can't dredge them up anymore.
This seems like a slightly improved Bottomfeeder (+1/+1 rather than +2/+2, but two copies rather than one). Bottomfeeder druid was not a viable deck.
This seems like another riff on the nostalgia theme of the expansion, but I don't see it being more than a meme.
New ones doesn't go to the bottom of your deck. They could be anywhere when shuffled in your deck. If you're lucky you draw one next turn.
I misread it.
It's still terrible.
Let's say one dies. Turn 7 you can draw a 1 mana 2/2 with a deathrattle to shuffle in again. Yay.
I love the Jade mechanic, but we already have it in a bunch of classes in Standard so this feels unnecessary.
For people who panic, this is way way worse than old jades.
Yeah. That the buff is only a deathrattle (and there aren't more Jade support cards) kills it; You play two of these to put four 3/3's on the very bottom of your deck.
There are better things to do after drawing literally your entire deck than playing 3/3 minions that will improve by +1/+1 when one of them dies.
I just want to interject that you've mentioned a couple times now that this puts them "on the bottom of your deck". They are shuffled in, they aren't directly placed at the bottom like Bottomfeeder was.
You're right and I got it wrong.
It's still terrible, and I doubt it will see much play absent some other kind of support.
You need four or five of these to die before they start being threats, and by then it's too late
Oh no, the PTSD is kicking in!
Honestly, surprised Steamcleaner wasn't thrown in the Core Set.
The good news is that I think this is terrible.
The bad news is, yeah, flashbacks.
Yeah, thank Yogg.
