I agree with it actually. Just like they were pushing for Enraged/Midrange Warrior, it was a good archetype, but most people still prefer playing Control/Aggro Warrior over Enraged Warrior at any time..
Drifter is great in Automaton Priest.
Lightbugs... not sure. It's a lot of stats and value for the cost, and although it's not proactive you can regain some health if they stick. I think I'd rather take an AoE over this, but if you're short on those (like in a singleton deck) then this isn't too bad.
Invasive Shadeleaf seems really good. 5 mana to kill two things doesn't sound great in terms of mana cost, but it's so flexible. You can kill their 4-drop with this and keep the bottle for a tempo-swing later.
Springwater is obviously for Overheal Priest, though 8 heal for 2 is pretty decent regardless.
I wonder if you get bottles that do nothing if there is no excess.
These new archetypes including Overheal mechanics might take off with the next Standard rotation in Apr 2024. As for now, Control Priest still has the strong existing Control tools that can help Priest survive until then, these tools overshadow all the new Priest tools.
Overheal requires you to have a board. Priest isn't great at that. And even if you manage to get a board one answer from your opponent and you are sunk because you don't have refill like mechs/elementals/murlocs.
It is just a terrible archetype in general. Far lacking in power to other classes ability to play board centric decks.
And even in some crazy future scenario where they print enough busted shit to make it viable (highly unlikely) who wants to play priest to play that style anyway??
Ehhh... it doesn't require you to have a board. The weapon and location let you sequence and line up cards for payoffs.
Like this new card let's you play it, into flash heal (or herald of light or clergy or gift of the highfather), into crimson clergy, into activate pre-played location into 0 cost hero power.
So 6 damage to the enemy board, with a 3/8 and a 1/3 while cycling. For 5 mana.
That's a really strong tempo play.
Why tokens don't have the rush 😒 it would be great
It'd just be another big damage while healing card for priest.
I think 5 mana is too expensive, tho.
I'm completely underwhelmed with these cards. I don't think any of them are worth playing.
I'm totally out on overheal as well. They are doing Priest dirty by my eye.
Okay, I think something completely went over my head. Shadowtouched Kvaldir together with Holy Springwateris actually kind of nasty. Deal 8 face damage for 2 + 2 mana, which can be on separate turns. In Wild this could be an interesting OTK, heal a character that is damaged by 1, get a 1 mana heal 7 potion. Copy it multiple times with the new Legendary, then reduce its cost to 0 with Radiant Elemental. Play Auchenai Soulpriest and deal massive damage to your opponent.
A tad expensive without discounts. Very cool cards from a design standpoint.
Wow, these are actually really cool. I love when they make a 'package' that are just vaguely similar good cards that synergize with each other and not a forced archetype.
Holy Springwater seems like it might be good.
Invasive Shadeleaf is nice single-target removal that can be used more than once for smaller minions.
Swarm of Lightbugs feels like trash. Priest doesn't have access to board buffs, and 1/1 minions - even a lot of them - die way to easily.
Am I crazy for thinking the bottle from Invasive Shadeleaf should be able to go face? You need to have spent 5 mana to deal 7 damage at best to face without spell damage. These spells seem pretty underwhelming, except for the 2 mana heal 8 face.
8 face damage in one card is a lot, especially for priest.
Crushing Hand was 2 mana with 3 overload for 8 damage to a minion, but no saving the extra.
Don’t know if these cards are good. But I definitely like the flavor of them :)
So Holy Springwater can't overheal ?
I was thinking the same. But the 1 mana bottle can.
If you Holy Springwater a full health character you probably get an 8HP bottle.
@Czhorat You can't target a full health character with Holy Springwater, it needs to be a damaged character. Same with the bottle, but the bottle can overheal yes.
The target has to be damaged. :/
Makes the card wayyyy worse.
I just played against the innkeeper to test this. You can definitely Flash Heal a full health character.
Edit: I'm illiterate. Ignore me.
If you're wondering why they did this it's so you can't easily summon an 8 drop with Heartthrob. Which is pretty fair and valid. A snowbally 2/5 and an 8 drop on turn 3 would be very toxic.
