Quote from BlizzardThe Old God was locked away, but we should have known its prison would not hold! Yogg-Saron's influence has been corrupting the Tavern since the beginning, and now its full power is unleashed! This is the end of the age of the titans; this is The Fall of Ulduar!
Fall of Ulduar, launching on September 19, consists of 38 new cards: 4 Legendary cards, 1 Epic card, 17 Rare cards, and 16 Common cards. Those new cards can either be opened in TITANS packs or purchased as a complete 72-card set.* Normal versions of the Mini-Set can be purchased for $14.99 or 2000 Gold. The all-Golden version can be purchased for $69.99 or 10,000 Gold. The Golden Mini-Set option also includes a bonus Diamond Legendary.
* Includes one copy of each Legendary card and two copies of each other card.
Anomalies Take Over the Tavern
Yogg-Saron's Anomalies could only be contained within Battlegrounds for so long. Yogg-Saron's faithful servant, Cho’gall, is coming in the Fall of Ulduar to unleash Anomalies on Standard, Wild, Twist, and Arena, too!
Cho’gall “corrupts” the game with a random Anomaly. The Anomaly effect is revealed prior to your mulligan and activates after the mulligan, but before the first turn is taken. At launch, there will be 20 Anomalies, each with an equal chance of corrupting the game, including:
In addition to Cho’gall’s effect, Anomalies will be active in all games for the first week after the launch of Patch 27.4. After that one week period, Anomalies will then be active in 25% of games until Patch 28.0. If you or your opponent (or both of you) have Cho’gall in your decks during these event periods, there’s a chance your game will be corrupted by two Anomalies at once!
Sow Chaos with Yogg-Saron's Tendrils
Yogg-Saron has sunk its tendrils deep into Azeroth and throughout the Fall of Ulduar Mini-Set! Chaotic Tendril is a card in the mini-set and there are ways to generate more Chaotic Tendrils for more chaos. Tendrils have a Battlecry that casts bigger and bigger spells as Yogg-Saron's influence grows!
Witness the Old God’s Power!
Watch out for Mini-Set reveals from Hearthstone, press, and content creators all this week as we prepare for Yogg-Saron's escape! Starting with Hunter:

I actually think this is really nice, as it will blow some fresh air in all the games for probably no more than 2 weeks and the card will die then but people will still get after that their 1/10 game with an anomaly decent enough to make you win the game (or even just have fun, I know there are people that can enjoy a good loosing game).
And there are still plenty other cards yet to discover which could make a nice mini-set
Cho'gall isn't that crazy rng since it just changes a bit the game for both players so it's kinda fun
The smoll 1 mana tentacle just seems like fun little rng card they always make some of those
Any bets for giving Priest a win condition other than "bore the opponent to death"?
Cho'gall seems bad. Even if you benefit more than your opponent from most anomalies, the low 25% activation chance makes it too unreliable. To play it you'd also really want the body, which to be fair is pretty decent, especially in Twist.
Chaotic Tendril will probably not see play by itself, but if there are other cards that are useful and generates one or more tendrils, it might see play that way.
The Hunter cards all seem good. Celestial Shot in particular is going to be huge for Arcane Hunter.
"We are running out of ideas" vibe written all over
It actually works nicely with Caverns of Time theme. The infinite Dragon flight messed with the timeline and it caused temporal anomalies in the future. It's a cool way to connect Titans with CoT expansion.
I like how lands are your example... as though there isn't built-in RNG to the land mana system that decides - completely out of your control - if you can play a land this turn or not.. Mana screw has been a concept for 30 years and you're over here like "imagine if MTG had RNG". Wow, yeah. Imagine that. Good point. MTG would kinda suck if you randomly couldn't put down lands purely due to RNG. That'd be some terrible game design.
MTG is a game of higher variance than Hearthstone but because people don't understand how probabilities work and because obvious random like Yogg is easily visible bad players think it is the other way around.
I would agree in general but I think this RNG clown fiesta especially the first week of the expansion is the best opportunity we've ever had to actually play fun decks and have a decent chance against more refined/powerful/boring decks
This kind of stuff is why competitive hearthstone is a joke. This should be a tavern brawl or something, not carried over into ranked.
That kind of stuff is why hearthstone is fun. 99.999 % don’t care for competetive
Agreed. Even when HS was at peak popularity the majority of players couldn't careless about competitive tournaments. Even in MTG and Yugioh.
I mean all aspects of competitive, not just tournaments. This is not going to be fun in ranked where you are actually trying to play around the meta and move up. It's too unpredictable. When I log in I want to play standard ranked, not this clown fiesta blizzard is forcing people to play. It just completely screws up the integrity of ranked, and I don't understand the thought process.
Imagine playing ranked Starcraft and 25% of the time both players start with 5 more scvs, or 2 command centers, or a barracks already built. It'd be a shit show. This is conceptually the same thing. I don't mind the idea in tavern brawl or something, but keep this literally alters the format and should have no place in ranked.
What? Another expansion? That’s to much. I spend all my gold to the expansion that released 2 weeks ago
Agreed, with caverns of time it's just impossible to keep up as F2P even if it's your main/only game.
I love the Random effect but why give the Card Taunt and Lifesteal? Then give Boulderfist Ogre Taunt and Lifesteal as well.
Because without defensive keywords it's a liability in the deck and it would be played far less than intended by Blizzard.
Boulderfist ogre is unplayable and irrelevant so don't pretend you're mad because there's a strictly better card, ogre wasn't even good 10 years ago in vanilla and powercreep of bad cards is good design.
Wow, the game will be flat out unplayable besides PvE modes...
Can't wait 🥰
I already have almost 5k gold, so insta-buy in first day is obvious , but...
I don't play much battlegrounds, but this Cho'gall, Twilight Chieftain is very interesting.
Description says "25% chance to corrupt the game with a random anomaly. ", and there are 20 different anomalies... So overall it will be very rare...
But at the same time Blizzard wrote, that " in addition to Cho’gall’s effect, Anomalies will be active in all games for the first week after the launch of Patch 27.4. After that one week period, Anomalies will then be active in 25% of games until Patch 28.0. If you or your opponent (or both of you) have Cho’gall in your decks during these event periods, there’s a chance your game will be corrupted by two Anomalies at once!" .
So in first week anyone who will include Cho'gall, Twilight Chieftain in their deck will get an anomaly in EVERY game, so it will be kinda wild, but after one week they will kinda nerf him & chances will be much rare...
This is interesting.
I think the post is saying that every game will have anomalies for the first week, not including Chogall’s effect. So during the first week, there will be a 100% chance of having an anomaly and a 25% chance of having two anomalies at once if a player is running Chogall
