Blizzard just announced a completely new mode with rotating seasons and special rules called Twist! Let's take a closer look at what it's going to be.
Battle-Ready Decks
Apparently there will be Battle-Ready decks for the new Twist mode that you'll be able to purchase either with real money or with your Gold if you want to quickly get a decent deck to play the mode if you don't have most of the cards.
You'll also be able to buy full-golden versions of these Battle-Ready decks. Source
Card Changes in Twist
Only one version of cards in Standard/Wild/Twist. So if nerfs were reverted when they entered Wild, those versions will be in Twist.

Quote from BlizzardStarting in Patch 26.6, coming later this month, Hearthstone will be replacing the Classic Mode with a new Mode called Twist!
Classic Hearthstone, With a Twist
Twist is a Hearthstone ladder Mode with regularly rotating seasons, each with a twist on the rules! Twist formats can include curated card pools and special rulesets. These formats are sure to bring back some of your favorites, but in a new setting with a new meta to crack!
We already have some fun and nostalgic Twist formats planned for the rest of the year, but we also want to hear from you about Twist formats you’d like to see, or if you end up loving one so much you want to see us bring it back. Twist formats are planned to change regularly, but not necessarily with every season. Twist also might be deactivated from time to time we prepare for the next upcoming season. You can find Twist in the Hearthstone menu, where Classic used to be, and you always check the current Twist season’s rules and eligible card pools from the deck selection screen.
Twist Timing
With Patch 26.6, Twist will be launching in its Beta. You’ll start your Twist climb from the beginning, at Bronze 10, and that first season will be a short season, lasting until July 1. You’ll also be able to earn ranked rewards from the Twist ladder, like Standard or Wild. June’s ranked rewards will be based on your highest ladder rank across Standard, Wild, Classic, or Twist. Once the Twist Beta kicks off, the official Leaderboards will switch from Classic to Twist.
The Twist Beta is planned for June and July. After the Beta, Twist will be temporarily deactivated for a short time while we prepare for the official Twist launch, coming soon!
Beta Format: New Age
Due to the short June season, there will be one format for both the June and July Beta seasons of Twist. That format is called “New Age,” a new evergreen format that includes the Core Set, plus all sets from Ashes of Outland forward. That means, during this Beta period, it will consist of:
- Core
- Ashes of Outland
- Scholomance Academy
- Madness at the Darkmoon Faire
- Forged in the Barrens
- United in Stormwind
- Fractured in Alterac Valley
- Voyage to the Sunken City
- Murder at Castle Nathria
- March of the Lich King
- Path of Arthas
- Festival of Legends
As new sets are added to the game, they will be added to the New Age pool, which might be brought back from time to time. For these Beta seasons, there will also be a special rules variant to the New Age format: no neutrals allowed. That will let you re-experience the New Age, but through new eyes! When we bring New Age back in the future, it might come back with the same rules variant, a different one, or no rules variant at all.

IF you still have that classic, old, old-school looking card design, why in the world do you remove the only old-school mode, which fits perfectly to that design? AND serves as the only motivation to play this game for nostalgia players. That's nonsense.
They needed this mode 5 years ago before everyone disenchanted there entire wild collection.
having different expansions interact with each other is something I wanted for years now just a little too late.
So Classic will be removed if I understand correctly?
im asking the same question but I understand it the same way like u
It looks that way, yeah.
But it seems that Classic may make its return via the new Twist mode for a season, maybe even with a twist.
Wild is unsovable therefore we realease new mode
Im genuinely surprised if anybody care for this mode
love this idea, but this first season seems very likely to be dominated by Pure Paladin. The one “rule” is that you have to go pure, and Paladin already wants to do this (and does so very successfully). Librams will be back too.
Still, if this ever allows me to relive the glory days of WoG or Ungoro, I am 100% for it!
It's an idea that sounds good in theory but I fear they will simply not properly test it, and a mode like this would require a lot of testing to be balanced.
They're going to throw some wacky restriction on and there's going to be some blatantly broken deck that will have a +10% WR over everything else. Are they going to ban or nerf things in a timely manner? Almost certainly not. So you're going to get similar nonsense to tavern brawls, but in a competitive format that doesn't change after just a week.
My thoughts exactly. This will be a mixture between Wild and Tavern Brawl and will be broken as hell as the developers will not bother to playtest at all what kind of broken stuff their 'twists' can lead to. They will definitely not bother to balance it either as it will change 'frequently enough', so putting effort into balance will not be an efficient use of their time. It will see some play in the first couple of rotations and then will be a dead mode just like Classic, Mercenaries, Duels, and Tavern Brawl. At least in TB you get a pack, while here you will have to spend to play the current meta, a.k.a Twist.
ok but what about MEMES
2 things:
- This is basicly the "modern" format from MTG
- No ThijsNL?...ouch
From what I can tell, that's just one possibility. It's possible that we could get one in the future that is the opposite, such as only allowing cards up to the Old Gods expansion. I'm not sure how that would be though since it would alienate newer players. Maybe they could offer popular cards at the time to players like how the core set works. Other rules might not limit the sets at all but change stuff with mana, card draw, minions, etc... It's pretty open ended.
Ah true, this opens up a format to make "modern" but also completely differrent ones.
So we got standard and legacy. And Twist is for all formats MTG might come up with
I think is interesting. I'm not surprised at all, because it is something that was being speculated for a long time. You really can't do much more than that to create new *interesting* formats.
I'm probably not going to play it much, unless the special rules are kinda fun, cause I like deckbuilding a lot, but thats exactly why I prefer Wild, I can build a deck with any card I want.
Tho I think it has to many sets, and the initial rotation feels like Standard+. Is hard to imagine that the format wasn't the exact same Paladin that is in Standard, but with Cariel in it. I think they should at least remove 2 Standard sets from it. But I guess is not going to keep that way for long. If I understood correctly, it should have a monthly rotation, but even so, it is weid that they don't decide to distinguish their formats better at first glance.
But I think is a good option for that moment of the month that I'm sick of the Meta and I have a couple Quests to do.
the concept is probably good, I do like a mix of sets that never interacted with each other to see what spawns the best archetypes from that new limited pool, but I'm not sure it will be a hit as it's too expensive compared to standard and not wide enough for wild people.
I hope they keep it limited enough (the beta pool is not)
Whom are they targeting with this crap? People playing wild don't need to invest anything to play this, and the rest playing classic/standard won't spend billions to keep up with a mode that covers sooo many old sets. Imo to bring people in this new thing they need to reduce either the number of sets per season or the cost of old packs like 10 times.
Otherwise, no profits => no development, gg
We'll see. There's been a number of comments from folks who are looking forward to this, as opposed to any other recent formats. Mercenaries, Battlegrounds, Duels, none of those were ever anything that appealed to me, whereas this one does. So I'd be careful with phrases like "thats what people want".
Honestly, it's whatever to me not gonna play it anyway, hope you guys have fun with that.
Not sure about that, Classic mode was a bot only mode and im expecting Twist to fall off very quickly as well. People want a mode that makes them happy, one that makes sense. Thats what people want.
I dusted all the wild cards
