Nothing really outstanding from this mini set. Clearly they are setting some things up. So long as they don't push back the Expansion, I'm glad the mininset got delayed. Two months with just these as the new additions would be worse than one.
Yep. It will do great against no minion/pure spell mage. But it will also do great against everything else as well. Sometimes it will be 4+ damage straight to the face.
I think we will get the set early Dec. It's already finished, so there is no real reason to delay it. Plus they usually have the end of Dec off and New Years off.
How does he know what's in the next balance patch ?
Content Creators for Hearthstone get the info early. That's how some of them have videos that go up immediately when the Patch or details are announced. Even Regis has said in some of his patch notes videos that they get it early.
People complain that Mage ignores the board and only do face damage with spells. You are saying play aggro and only do face damage with minions. You are doing exactly the same thing except using minions. And any non-mage or warlock player you encounter that is just trying to play a fun or interesting deck suffers unless you are saying you autoconcede against them. So make no mistake, you're a shitheel regardless of why you are playing the deck.
I play aggro only to decimate the mage population, now that i do not see mages anymore, I turned back to play control. Worth it

I don't think this posting this means anything. Dean and Alec both said they wouldn't nerf Springwater during an upcoming round of nerfs, a week later they nerfed it.
I'd argue it's less the quest is easy to complete and more so they can play the minion so early. Does it matter if Mage completes step 1 and draws a spell? Not really. Does it matter that they discover a spell after completing the next step? Nope. Suddenly having +3 Spell damage globally on turn 5? Possibly a problem there. Instead of raising the cost of some of the steps, raise the cost of the minion.
Reducing the spell damage on mage Quest to 1 or make it discover a card that started in your deck would make it unplayable. 1 spell damage is nothing. 2 is even more acceptable. This is a Legendary card and Mage needs to be competitively viable. It shouldn't auto lose to decks or be made that much weaker seeing as it already has a hard time winning because it is weak to Aggro.
The biggest issue is Flow, and I say this as a Mage main. Mage has a lot of draw, but Flow enable Mage to play a lot of their draws in the same turn. Warlock, there really is much way to change this card without making it do something completely different. Hunter, 0 cost Hero power that refreshes IS pretty busted for a class that can already burn you down with it even when it costs 2.
The best fix would be to increase the cost of the rewarded minions so the effect enters the game later. 6-8 would be fair. 9 to 10 would be extreme. Though even with these quests nerfed, the game won't get any slower. The strongest decks in the game don't even use the quests. Those decks will just become more prevalent when the Quest decks receive a nerf, then people will start to complain about those decks next, that's what always happens. Blizzard could nip this in the bud by nerfing more than just the quest decks this round, but they haven't even met yet to discuss nerfs or look at the data. They are doing that tomorrow.
There needs to be a way to slow down completion of this quest. They complete it by turn 6 every single time. +1 spell damage the rest of the game would be powerful enough. or +3 spell damage to your first spell each turn.
The easiest way to nerf any quest is change how much the Reward Minion costs. There is no reason to completely gimp the card.

Grey Sage Parrot, Celestial Ink Set and Clumsy Courier are all good for a big spell package. But there are no real worth wild big spells for Mage to play. Hopefully that changes.

I remember them saying it would be delayed, not coming out early Oct.

It wouldn't just be successful, it would kill them and make them unplayable.

Whatever you say.

The goal of a nerf should be to make things more fair. That would absolutely kill the quest and that should never be the intention of a nerf.
