posted a message on Going free to play for this set. anyone else?

Didn't preorder, I have enough gold for about 30 packs, and the dust for a couple legendaries. I'm hoping to get lucky, Haha!

About the dust though, I might be in the minority, but I feel like it's pretty generous tbh. Maybe it's because I played magic the gathering for a long time, but if I could have traded any 4 mythics for any mythic I wanted, we'll that'd be insane to me haha.

I guess I just look at it like, certain cards are just more valuable than others, but since in hearthstone they all have the same dust value, then it's a pretty good deal to trade in your crappy cards to obtain the good ones.

Time and patience means you dont have to spend a dime on this game. I felt ripped off by the TGT preorder, and since then i have only bought adventures (which now is not an issue). I have a ton of cards and some competitive decks, make it to r5, and have a lot of fun. No more $ required.

Im not saying the game is not expensive, because it can be, but it can also be free, so I personally don't see the cost as an issue

For new players, yes I understand the frustration of not having a huge collection, but my wife just started and even got a win on razakus priest with the most garbage hunter deck on her first day! (taking partial credit for being a good coach haha)

There is a simple problem with what you say, yes you can reach rank 5 and even legend by using the exact same mid-range hunter that has existed since Hearthstone is thing, some cards come in and some subpars ones go out but at its core is the same deck but the point is that a a vast majority of the people don't want to just ladder and reach high ranks every season, most people want to accomplish that whle having fun and if you ask me I would shoot myself if I had to play the same hunter deck every day , every game for 2 months in a row, I absolutely agree HS is not pay to win at all, as I said the same exact super cheap hunter deck can take you to legend on multiple expansions aand metas but that is not fun at all, I don't expect to be on a streamer level that spends thousands of dollars every year and they can play whatever deck they want, no matter how much of a meme and shit it is but I still would like to be able to play all decent decks without having to drop big bucks for Blizzard, if you want to be realistic a lot of players have to choose classes and almost drop other ones to stay competitive.
And this will never stop being a problem cause there will always be people that are willing to pay whatever money Blizzard asks for, we call them Big Whales, and here is a simple example, Brian Kibler is one of the most popular streamers currently, he reaches legend every season but very very rarely plays any "good deck", the stuff he plays is, a lot of the times, borderline meme-ish, the problem here is that he has an obssesion with having all his cards golden... worse than this he has saved around 45k gold but still every expansion he drops hundreds of dollars to buy packs for literally no reason, players like him make it so Blizzard will never check the price to toggle them down a bit, if there's people willing to pay that kind of money every 4 months and even when they announced no more adventures and even 2 legendaries per class, blizzard will just keep the prices as they are and even make the game more expensive.
I totally get what you're saying. I mentioned the hunter deck as more of inspiration for new players, or players who aren't playing the top tier decks. Having fun and playing competitively is possible, you just cant expect to win with every deck. You can build an outrageous all golden super expensive deck and not win. Heck with the way Blizzard designs their legendaries, it seems as though they are in favor of the players that cant afford massive collections.
What i was trying to say, with a well thought out deck using the cards you have at your disposal, it can take you a long way if you have experience. I have a pretty extensive collection, but i typically like to play fun decks of my own design that hang around r15 most the time. And if you are free to play and new, sure it means you cant play any deck you want and be competitive, but that is the case for every card game out there.
As a former MTG player, I really appreciate the dust system in hearthstone. Since i have been playing so long, it has really enabled me to play any decktype/hero I want without having to spend anything. Although you are totally right, i almost completely ignore certain classes (warrior, warlock)

posted a message on I LOVE KELESETH :]]]]]]]]] (not salty thread about loving kelley)

I had something similar. it was a mirror match up, he dropped keleseth twice on round two, but i had a good curve and just went face when i could. I had to trade some pirates away, backstab/shadowblade a 5/5 si:7 agent, but the last play was this:

he had a massive taunt from bonemare, i had a silenced southsea captain on board. I played black knight to destroy his taunt, shadowstepped captain, played captain, played southsea deckhand, swung for three, shadowstepped deckhand, played deckhand again, swung for three again. Won without using the last durability of my dagger :). not the flashiest combo but he was so sure he was going to win.

it was all the more sweet because he hit well 'played' after dropping keleseth twice on turn two, which was beyond annoying.

Also annoying was the fact i was wishing to draw the eviscerates that would have been in my deck if it werent for my own keleseth (who didnt even bother to show up to this fight!)

it's really not all that expensive. Plus you can earn stuff for free. Patience will get you all the cards you need if you really don't want to pay. If you want to pay only a little bit, then you are in better shape than the f2p players, of which there are many

posted a message on Community mods?

Hey gang, I've been playing Hearthstone for a long time, and have really enjoyed it. I am a casual player, but have really tried to enjoy what the game has to offer. I think blizzard did a good job at tearing me away from the money out that was MTG, haha!

I have also been a big fan of the game community. Sure I get those salty opponents sometimes that like to rage after losing (or winning even, which is beyond me). For the most part people i talk to in game are friendly. And I have really enjoyed Hearthpwn, although I only recently decided to join. I like it because of the ideas, I love reading people's opinions about hearthstone, and the card design competitions are really fun too.

The reason I bring this up, is a lot of times I read about alternate game modes players would like to see. As a long time blizzard game player, I really enjoyed the community made maps that the Warcraft and starcraft games had to offer, and I am just wondering what you guys would think about something similar to a "custom maps" mode in hearthstone. I think it would be great for blizzard to leverage the community to create more content.

I love looking over the custom cards posted on this site, and think it would be really cool to be able to play them. I'd even pay to play some of these sets!

    What do you think?

I think it would be cool to see some kind of net or snare, like a 4 mana 3/2, if targeted minion survives damage put it in your hand

for punishing that priest that cheeses out obsidian statue super early
