posted a message on How High Can I Climb? May Ranked Season: Part 1

All I can say is I too have made questionable crafting choices when a new set first comes out. Loving warlock myself, I thought for -sure- that Wilfred Fizzlebang was going to be amazing and crafted him immediately. Needless to say he didn't quite pan out and I dusted him later, considering the loss of dust penance for my hasty decision.

posted a message on The Witchwood Cards HCT Pros Are Most Excited About

For people questioning whether these guys are 'pros' or not:

Hunterace: Total earnings: $7,715.64 From 5 tournaments (https://www.esportsearnings.com/players/39487-hunterace-)

RDU: Total earnings: $143,482.89 from 50 tournaments (https://www.esportsearnings.com/players/8377-rdu-dima-radu)

Orange: Total earnings: $225,745.38 From 41 Tournaments (https://www.esportsearnings.com/players/14151-orange-jon-westberg)

DrJikininki: Total earnings: $20,153.75 From 9 Tournaments (https://www.esportsearnings.com/players/37065-drjikininki-)

Raven: Total earnings: I couldn't find anything for this, but he is known as a popular streamer and has cast at many Hearthstone tourneys.

I'm not counting their streaming earnings b/c I have no idea, but there's the hard info there regarding their tournament winnings. DrJinkininki and hunterace have much fewer earnings but with far less tournaments to show for it (that they've actually won money in, not counting tourneys they didn't make any money at), so time will tell if it's lucrative for them at all.

Personally I've heard of all these guys, but I'm sort of a stream/tourney junkie. I can understand why some haven't though, but that's no indication of their status as pros. I mean, I'm sure there's really popular world-reknown sumo champions that most of you have never heard of.

posted a message on [RANK 3] SPITEFUL BUFF

This is a great mediocre deck in the current meta. Jade Druid wrecks you unless you tech in a Geist. Cubelock is unstoppable unless you get a perfect draw (and even then... very difficult unless your Geist hits the Pacts ASAP and they don't cube a Voidlord). It sucks b/c it's a really cool deck but it's just not powerful enough to handle anything other than 2nd-3rd tier decks, so far.

posted a message on Caught! Mike Donais Helped Redesign a Magic Card for Hearthstone

Guys. Magic has had over 20 years of development. Just about everything you can do with cards has already been created by them. I challenge you to come up with a single (legitimate) mechanic that Magic hasn't used. You probably can, but your first 4 or 5 tries will likely have already been done.

One of Hearthstone's strengths is in being able to do things that Magic can't/won't or can't easily do, since it's a purely digital format. It's more like a video game that way. Even for digital formats Magic still holds true to their edict that they will only allow things that can happen in the physical game. With HS, cards can easily transform into anything. Cards that didn't previously exist can magically appear. You can play cards that aren't in your collection. I'm sure as time goes on we'll see even crazier things (ex. cards that explode into pieces that are distributed into both decks and do stuff when drawn or can be combined, board interactions that can affect the game, 'traditional' game mechanics like tapping, match3, grenade lobbing arcs, etc. etc.).

posted a message on Hearthstone Live Q&A Recap - Nine New Arena Cards, Player Stats, Random Card Backs, Dungeon Runs

I, for one, am very ok with Dungeon Runs. I always want a non-PVP option because sometimes I really want to play, but I just don't want to PVP. And the Innkeeper gets old. It's somewhat fun to revisit the old dungeons, especially after new cards come out. So this is a sweet way to add more content like that.

Ideally, they implement Mythic Dungeons for the hardcore problem solvers :)

Works pretty well against most things, but I can't get past Shaman. They just out-value and overwhelm me. Not sure what to do about it except maybe Brawl.

posted a message on Easy Rank 5: The Tidal Hand

Reposting from a different thread (my comments):

I went with this build, as it looked like the most promising. I don't have Gormok so I just went with Anyfin Can Happen (oddly after about 15 games I still have yet to draw it though), and it is working great. Turn 2, double Selfless Hero puts the opponent into a quandary :)

I did find myself wanting Consecrate in the zoo matchups, but ultimately I realized I just get more value out of trades thanks to shields. Good times!

posted a message on Anti Aggro Control Healidin!

Over about 10 games with your build I can tell you that it's much weaker vs. aggro. Which was the point of the OP's deck I believe.

posted a message on *Updated* C'Thun Ramp (Anti-Meta)

This deck is working fantastically. The only time I'm sweating is the first few turns against aggro. But went overall 9-2 (2 + 7 wins for 10 packs, not a bad deal Blizzard!).

Best play was when a dude played the new Deathwing, I swiped and attacked into it with Arrakoa, then rammed Sylvanas into him. He died, summoned Ysera, then she grudgingly came over to my team. He conceded shortly after.

I dig how this deck can win without C'thun being casted. I probably only cast him in 3 or 4 of my games (and never lost when I did). I was worried a bit about the priest matchup (Entomb), but was able to play around it and finish him off with a 19 point C'thun. Good times.
