posted a message on POLL: Hearthstone monthly fee or not? Real world money or not?

No entry fee on top of gameplay that follows the KISS principle (or at least it follows it better than pretty much any other card game out there) is why this game has gotten so many players in its few years of existence. Adding a monthly fee to pay will kill the game.

If the concern is trying to get newbies' decks caught up to a point where they can play with others, then a better idea would be to allow earning cards/gold/dust via solo play -- keep the rewards less than you'd get via playing modes with others to keep the social aspect in check, but at least people can have an option to play on their own, get more familiar with the game, and build their collection up to the point where they feel more confident playing against other people.

I cannot express the joy I feel now that the related wing is finally out and I have won my very on Murloc Tinyfin cards. I will cherish them, lovingly craft golden versions, and they will be an adorable, adorable staple in every deck I use from here on.

(nah just playing but this card is cute and I wish there was a tinyfin plushie)

Also seems nobody got the smart idea to just play with friends and have their own ban list.
As an aside, you can't get the pack for winning the first brawl by playing friends, you have to win against a random.

Mecha_Lynx your breakdown post here is fantastic; thank you for taking the time to compile it.

I'm not sure if the love/hate reactions to this brawl (and to a lesser extent the previous one) are more regional than not suiting people who possibly prefer a more "structured" style of play. Luck is always an element in Hearthstone, but the mode where it's influence is least is with Casual/Ranked Play, since (outside of using cards like Webspinner or Unstable Portal), since you and your opponent are working within a fixed deck and within class-restrictions. Arena requires a little more luck, largely in the drafting process but even then it's fairly static. But with brawls like this and last week's where those restrictions are largely thrown out the window -- well, it's not hard to see where RNG complaints are coming from.

Personally speaking, I don't like constructing decks and I found it to be one of my least favorite aspects of the game (particularly since I didn't have any of the solo adventures for the longest time), so I appreciate modes like this where I have a chance to work with cards that I haven't had the chance to get yet. I enjoy getting an unexpected card and trying to figure out how to work it on the fly; I find it much more satisfying than trying to work out synergy beforehand. I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way, and I think Blizzard has picked up on that as well. The Discover mechanic introduced in LOE is basically taking it from the brawls and adding a bit of it to the meta.

Had a quest to win battles with Priest, so I basically cobbled together a minion-only decked and hoped for the best.

The results were better than I had hoped. I think I may like this Brawl.

(The only AoE spell I got was Holy Nova, funny enough. And I only got it once.)

When I finished my first match in this brawl I was feeling pretty "meh" about it, but the more I played it the more I ended up loving it. I really loved the "draft-as-you-go" format; no match was ever the same and the potential for last-chance turnarounds (which I love to do) was pretty good. I prefer this style over Arena's format -- in Arena a bad draft means you pretty much have to plow through three inevitable losses, but in this brawl you always had a chance of getting a strong minion/AoE spell/some other card that works really well in your current predicament.

I'd also love for something with this style to be a permanent mode. Like...Arena for caffeinated squirrels, I dunno.
