posted a message on 0 cost cards

It'd help.  The card design for the last year or two has made draw/discover and reduce affects so cheap its pretty much ruined constructed for me.  Duels have been fun, less consistency has kept the games from becoming the competitive masturbation of standard.  Duels decks can ^(%# you in a few turns, but at least it's participatory.

posted a message on In 8 years, how come we haven't had a single card giving your hero a "thorn" mechanic?

I agree with Pherosizm and TallStranger - the mechanic would either be OP against aggro and useless against control, or result in a deck that had a permanent Vaporize. The card would definitely need to be tied to a minion and only be active while the minion was alive, or on a spell or a battlecry, be active for a set amount of turns.

Imo, the balanced way to deal with it would be a weapon that intentionally stayed active during your opponent's turn.  Or better was only active during your opponent's turn.   Each thorn strike would be the same as a normal weapon strike:  both sides take their relevant damage and durability goes down by one.  Aggro decks could play around it either by sequencing attacks well, buffs/shields, or running weapon removal.  It'd be weaker against control sure, that's fine.

posted a message on 2.November Changes to Duels

Overall I'm excited about the changes, a bit worried about Diablo's power level and disappointed Priest wasn't nerfed at all.  But overall I'm looking forward to the 3rd.

Just what the meta needed, more cheap draw and cost reductions.  Another season of Duels for me.

Standard is still that frustrating and uninteractive garbage like when I left it a month ago. Came back with renewed hopes but after a few hours I've seen enough.

It's astounding that this terrible gaming experience is intended - it's truly a shame.

I feel the same after leaving for a year and a half.  Left during AoO and came back to this shit.  But they've managed not to fuck up duels as much as constructed and that's been fun.

posted a message on Mercenaries: Exploit Fixes - BG: Toki Fixed - Patch Notes Coming This Week

Evidently there was an issue that high level players were win trading by using mono-colored comps.  Roll all green, insta-concede to all red and get conceded to by blue.

Lol, I had already checked out once I got a merc to 30 and saw how bad the grind for any progression past that would be.  Now double-fuck no.  I'm not a huge fan of grinder games regardless and Blizzard seems to have gone out of their way to make this grind especially painful.

Same problem as Boost, seems to be spreading into other modes.  Can't use treasure #3 in Duels because it claims I don't have the right achievements unlocked.

posted a message on The Gold Cost

Eh I spent 200g, 100 for mailbox 100 for the campfire upgrade.  I won't be spending the gold to PvP as its disgustingly p2w and the final campfire upgrade doesn't seem that impactful.  200g for some enjoyable PvE content is a good price imo.

Mercs is entirely F2P.  You can Target grind out ANY Merc.  If you like the mode this isn't an issue.  If not then why the do you care enough to post this.  Why do so many people who play this game feel like they're entitled to a free ride on someone's hard work. Shove off

PvP isn't even pay to win because you're matched based on character level.  And even then, YOU CAN GRIND AS MANY COINS AS YOU WANT.

Basing on character level, the only attribute that can't be bought, puts the free player at the biggest possible disadvantage.  You buy coins and matching based coins spent in comp would give you the evenest field.  Levels are trivial to gain, not even half-way through the PvE content and have several level-maxxed characters.

posted a message on Healing Tasks are frustrating

The final boss for the barrens has a set pattern of actions.  He'll do damage one turn if you're slower, the other if you're faster.  On the faster turn, use slow damaging attacks.  On the slower turn, heal him.  You can essentially stall that boss forever and keep healing him infinitely.  Or if you do have a friendly-only skill, have a tank intentionally get hit and then heal the tank.

posted a message on Mercs sadly Pay to Win

The problem is that even as a solely PvE mode the experience is profoundly hampered by the p2w aspects of the PvP mode.   Once you get the heroes you want to level 30 progression crawls to a stop as coins are given out a rate designed to "encourage" you to buy them in a packs.  And getting the heroes you want is quite the grind as well.

So you're telling me I either have to buy packs or earn them at ridiculously slow rate to be competitive?! Oh! I See! That's totally not how regular Hearthstone works! Right, guys?! Daum gacha games!!!

You can build a competitive deck that can hit legend in the time it takes to get to legend.  It's been done so many times its not interesting, its been done in less than 24 hours before.  While there's certainly a p2w element to ranked, Mercenaries is an order of magnitude more.  You will most certainly be significantly weaker in Mercs without spending money, completing a top roster doesn't look to be plausible in Mercenaries without hundreds if not thousands of hours grinding PvE.

So no, the two are not comparable.

? You need collection of cards to play hearthstone. You need collection of mercenaries to play mercenaries. Once you got all the meta cards\mercenaries - then no amount amount of further spending will help you progress anywhere.

Not how Mercs work at all.  The merc itself is useless without both levels and coins to level up skills/gear.  The levels are easy enough to get but you earn coins at a ridiculously slow rate.  Unless you buy packs, you'll get hours worth of coins per pack and even the pack payout is painfully low.
