I personally voted 'playable' - not because I actually perceive it as playable, but that's the closest I can give to a 2.5/5 rating.

At first glance, I can't imagine any deck where this would easily fit, so I'd be inclined to rate it as 'bad'. However, that battlecry is absurdly powerful, so I also think ignoring the effect moving forward be unwise. It's possible that with other reveal cards and some crafty deck construction someone can find a deck where the super powerful battlecry shines (think Shudderwock - took some tinkering but last I checked it was a tier 1 deck).

If somewhere were to do it, based on current cards, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an odd shell - upgraded priest hero power is pretty good in a more controlling deck, and Glitter Moth makes the requirement a lot easier to manage. An alternative would be a Lady in White deck where a lot of the minions you're running are going to be high health anyway.

Again, not saying that I think it's currently playable or will be playable - but that battlecry is so strong I think it's worth reflecting on as we move forward.

Um, there isn't a single number you can double that then becomes 7.  Glitter Moth won't work.  Lady in white COULD work but then you'd have add more stars for star aligner to worry about, so to speak.

The effect IS strong but the set up, at least at the moment (more minions to go after all) is far too many hoops to jump through even for this cards pay out.  My guess is though we won't see this card have an easy dial combo for it, it ain't called Star Aligner for nothing

Oh god, I was under the impression it was like Fight Promoter, but you're right - the wording is clearly different, and this one requires exactly 7, not 7 or more. I fear the universe where it's possible to get this battlecry in a competitive setting simply does not exist.

Well, there's Aviana Kun, or Thaurissan + Drakkari Enchanter to set up some potential combos (including Brewmasters for repeat triggers), but are these really better than existing options?

Edit: for some reason - probably because I've never played with the junk - I thought Glitter Moth changed the health value of all minions in your deck (like Lady of White does). With how it actually works (changing the health of minions on the battlefield - juuuunk. This card wouldn't pull a Lady in White deck from not-competitive to competitive, so unless they bring out some more support it's just not good enough. Gonna drop my rating to bad because the battlecry is still really strong, but without Glitter Moth working the way I thought it did, it would take some pretty strong new cards to make it actually work.

At first glance, thought it was a battlecry, in which case it would've been pretty good (2/4 + conditional removal for 4 is very cost efficient).

As a deathrattle it's pretty junk. Unless you do some cute little combo with it what's like to happen is that your opponent will easily kill it on their turn, then have the means of dealing 1 damage to a 1/1 whose rush is no longer meaningful.

Could be somewhat decent in arena - though it's going to be hard to get really good value turns out of it.

posted a message on New Priest Spell - Cloning Device

The only way this card could realistically see play is if the meta somehow has enough slow control decks where discovering a second copy of a value minion like Lich King is worth the 2 extra minion.

Against aggro decks this is going to be pretty trash, and against everything but decks that contain on-their-own good minions (like aforementioned control), it's basically pay 2 mana to discover a minion that's likely not suited for your deck.

Probably a low pick in arena, but late game you may be happy to pay 2 mana to get a choice of 3 minions.

Is this some sort of meme or something? Is that why everyone is saying it's broken and it has a mostly "very good" rating?

This card seems exceptionally average. A little better than Hand of Protection in some cases, but much worse in many others. And really, unless you have a half decent minion and your opponent has a half decent minion that they have to attack with first, it could be as bad as "give a minion +1 health when it gets attacked".

Not impressed. Really the only time it's better than Hand of Protection is when you want to divine shield an important minion that might die to attacking, but you can't afford that divine shield to fall off too easily. Outside of stopping easy divine shield pinging, that's a pretty fringe case.

Funzers, that's what it is. That said, I'm curious how the change actually occurs and interacts with quests. Could be cool if you get a quest for a class you really don't enjoy - so you make a deck for that class and include Whizbang, he changes the deck to a class you do enjoy when you start the game but you get credit towards your disliked-class' quest.

ONE thing is for sure though. Streamers who are getting sniped will be able to play this and start really messing with the sniper. That'll be super fun to watch.

Isn't the most important aspect of sniping that they can see your hand? This wouldn't change that. After the deck has been changed, the sniper is still going to be able to see if the streamer is able to answer their plays (or not). Sure, the sniper wouldn't be able to queue up a counter deck, but I'd still bet on the guy that has a strong tier deck + knows their opponent's cards.

posted a message on New Druid Legendary Minion - Flobbidinous Floop

Obviously a 3/4 for 4 isn't great, but this has huge potential given that the minion doesn't have to survive a turn, and you then get to replay it for 4 mana.

Think of it this way - play Malygos on whatever turn, Malygos dies. You play Flobb. You then have 6+ mana (depending on discounts/Innervates) to do something like Moonfire, Moonfire, Living Roots, Living Roots, Swipe for 33 damage.

In standard, could see Hadronox druid make a resurgence with another copy of Hadronox (assuming you can hold off playing the first until this is in hand), and there are plenty of minions with good enough abilities to make up the 2 stats below par (hell, anything with a decent ability, deathrattle or even just divine shield would make this guy at least decent - 4 mana 3/4 Lich King is actually ok).

'Gimmicky' things like this have to be super strong to actually make a difference (see something like, I don't know, Carnivorous Cube or Aviana).

Betrayal x3 for 5 mana that also makes you take a heaping of face damage *and* only hits one of the two minions (potentially at random if the minion you hit isn't on an end) doesn't seem *nearly* strong enough. Way too far off the pace.

Just for accuracy sake, Charged Devilsaur getting rush would not just be a 'consistency' change, it would actually change how the card functions (as right now, if the battlecry doesn't go off it can charge into face, whereas rush doesn't have that ability). Unstable Evolution, on the other hand, would just be a consistency change as I'm pretty sure it and echo function exactly the same way.

Didn't realise this until I saw someone else make a comment in a video - but it should be noted that this can be used on your own minions, essentially sacrificing them to deal damage to the enemy hero (while it can target friendly and enemy minions, it always deals the excess damage to the enemy hero).

posted a message on New Mage Legendary - Archmage Arugal

This plus that new 7 drop = 8-for-2, for 9 mana.

+6 cards. Very solid little combo. If control mage were to be a thing, it would certainly drool over that.

And hell, not only is it an 8-for-2, but it's not like those huge card advantage effects where it's all just going into your hand - as part of it you're getting a 2/2 (with useful ability) and 6/6 on the board.

Fantastic. Extremely powerful with drawback (that can potentially be negated via quirky deckbuilding). A fan of this sort of thing.

Don't know if a heavy-minion shell would work with it in standard, but I'm curious if something like mech mage would appreciate the inclusion in wild.

posted a message on New Neutral Legendary - Countess Ashmore

Of course, first thing that comes to mind is Curator.

Question is - is rush + lifesteal + deathrattle better than dragon + murloc + beast?

It's a tough question, and of course depends on a class v class and wild v standard configuration. Deathrattle is almost automatically valuable, in a similar way that the dragon part of the Curator had little trouble being half decent. Rush and lifesteal though? Well, classes relying on a neutral lifesteal are SOL - you wouldn't run Bloodworm, Deadscale Knight or Pumpkin Peasant and pray to not draw them before Countess in order to get an extra card in your hand. Priest is pretty much the only class with a really good standard lifesteal, in the form of Obsidian Statue (paladin has some passable ones, but not 'really good'). So if we're not relying on lifesteal to get the second card draw required to make Countess good enough in a control deck, what about rush?

Well, there are some ok rush cards in neutral, so perhaps we can see this work. Swift Messenger is an almost-Fireball in terms of creature removal (especially when drawn off Countess, as she'll be a 6/2 on the next turn), and while it's not quite *that* simple, a 6/6 for 7 that draws you a deathrattle (can't imagine a meta where there are no half decent deathrattle cards), a pseudo-Fireball and potentially a lifesteal minion if any half decent ones are revealed between now and release may well be good enough... if the meta is slow enough.

posted a message on New Shaman Minion - Totem Cruncher

Needs to eat at least 2 totems to be better than Yeti, and even then how much better it is is debatable (even in even shaman it would still be a 6 mana 6/7 in that case).

Cards like Frostwolf Warlord do it so much easier, and they don't see play, so don't expect much here IMO.

posted a message on New Druid Legendary - Splintergraft

    8/8 for 8, pseudo-draw a card (potentially with a powerful ability, potentially just a vanilla 10/10).

Ultimately seems like it'll be too cute/slow - someone mentioned Zola the Gorgon being an almost-always better version of this, and I tend to agree - generally when you're running a minion in constructed it's because it's either statted way above curve for some reason (which a 10/10 for 10 isn't), or it has an ability that makes it better-than-normal (and in which case, you'd prefer the standard cost version over a 10/10 version).

That all said, there might be some potential in running both this and Zola in some sort of greedy druid deck, if the meta is slow enough to allow such a thing.
