I don't think any card should be nerfed. However, I only want to know one thing? What is it about the internet that makes people want to announce that they are leaving a game? You play or you don't. The reasons you have for leaving may be completely valid, but what makes you think the rest of us care? If you have already made up your mind, just leave. If you are still waffling, start a discussion. But, don't be a troll. And people think emoting are bad manners...

BoneAppart posted a message on The nerfs really grinds my gears!Posted in: General DiscussionI finaly got good enough at the game to hit legendary when I started playing hunter. And now I have to re-learn my epic skills. This really grinds my gears! Back to playing Zoo I suppose. Damn Blizzard so stupid!
...Epic skills.....
There is an article in the incoming issue of Nature Review. It was written by a group of scientists out of Harvard U. and Stanford. They went to the Republic of Congo with the intent of studying how chimpanzees would react/adapt to video games. They tried a few games for months with a few initial subjects. Only recently they ended up settling for HearthStone since they could use a well protected iPad and the basic play was fairly simple. A few more tests indicated the Hunter class was by far the easiest to pick up. And so they started the training of the best test subjects. To their surprise one of the test subject reached legend (end of season 4) in 246 games (starting level 25). There was not mention about any win rate which strikes me as a flaw in their study... In any case this is remarkable. Now granted those chimpanzees are not your typical chimp, those were Bonobos.
Funny anecdote. Our furry friends ran into trouble when facing backspace Rogue. Invariably the human opponent (completely oblivious there were playing against a chimpanzee) would lay a King Mukla turn 3. Everytime the test subject would freeze and allow his turns to pass without playing and lose miserably. They still haven't figured out whether this is due to the big Silver Back picture or the two bananas that appeared in their hand...

Justsa1yan posted a message on Bots - An estimate of their skill level, prevalency and what that means for HearthstonePosted in: General DiscussionI'd like to assure everyone that bots are real.
Consider these two simple facts:
1. Day 3 of THIS season, there are over 1,000 players in NA Legends.
2. Day 3 of LAST season, there were only 75 or so players in NA Legends.
Unless Hearthstone's community has grown 13 fold, the reasonable explanation for such a high number of legends players has to be bots. Why bots? Because the ability to play 24/7 logs a larger number of games played (in 72 hours, at an average of 7 games per hour, 504 games), combined with a positive win rate allows bots to "grind" to legends.
So, now that it's undeniable that bots exist, how many are there?
Let's set some base assumptions:
- 7 games per hour, 72 hours of gameplay have allotted 900 bots (900 of the 1000 legends players) to reach legends
- Assuming at most a 55% win rate, a random generator can assume on average, 800 or so games to reach legends.
So, the 900 or so bots already at legends are a bit luckier than the average bot. I would consider them to cover roughly 5% of confidence interval, meaning the population of bots being run is nearly 18,000 bots. With over 10 million ipad downloads and on average, 4-5k legends player at the end of season, we can assume the grand population of active NA server players to be 500k+. If we expect 20% to be online at a time, that's 100k players vs. 18k bots. The average player will face a bot 1 out of every 6 games. At the moment, I certainly feel that I encounter a bot at least 1 out of 6 games.
Should we be worried?
I believe the answer is yes, we should be worried, deeply. Currently, it impacts the casual player very little, but it will have a huge impact on the grind to legends:
- Your performance won't be reflected as well, as a new legends now may be rewarded a starting rank in the mid 100s, whereas they should deserve a spot in the top 100.
- Your grind to legends is going to be much harder, as these bots have shown the capability to achieve legends, and won't be making any human error. I would assume whoever is multi-botting stops when they hit legend, and starts botting on a new account. That means bots won't leave the ladder later in the season.
- The casual players are discouraged from trying to achieve a higher rank, as these bots can easily defeat a casual player at lower ranks.
- The experience of the game has been ruined to some degree, ranked play where you queue into a bot 1 out of every 6 games or so can be annoying to some, and enraging to others.
If you've come this far, you clearly care about this issue, and I encourage you to reply to this thread, voice your opinion here and to Blizzard. If Blizzard won't fix it, it's important for the community to bring action.
Signing out,
Justsaiyan

Hazem posted a message on Golden cards do not blend well with WarlockPosted in: General DiscussionThe moment I plopped down my golden Voidwalker, with its gilded taunt glistening, was the moment I knew I would abstain from golden cards.
May it be with divine beauty or covetous greed... that shiny gold luster looks terrible in the hands of a Warlock, even at the price of missing out on that sweet animation. So it seems to me that I will be content without that dream of attaining a deck full of golden cards... aye, my eyes see true that these normal gray cards, as well as those with that class color trim, look much better.
Do any other Warlocks, or potentially other classes (if at all), feel the same way?
You have a great taste.. I totally agree with you, I've always felt the same, I don't run a single golden card in any of my Warlock decks.
However, I find it beautiful in my Hunter.. Really beautiful... - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

The thing I hate about aggro is that it is very mistake lenient. I have lost to many Zoo who misplayed horribly and yet still won the match simply because my starting hand didn't allow me to catch up. Against Control decks, it rarely happens. You misplay once and the game will swing to your opponent favor heavily. That's why it requires a lot more thinking than just face rushing.

I think you are pretty much describing Tempo Rogue rather than Miracle Rouge. Miracle contains lots of spells to fuel Gadgetzan draws while the deck you describe is pretty minion heavy and more board control oriented.

So true, you deserve an upvote here. Also I notice from other games that 80% of the people who are posting this kind of threads ended up returning to the game after a while.

First option: $50 for 40 packs = 4000G, that's 80G/$1.
Second option: $20 for Naxx ( 4 wings) + $30 for 22 packs = 700 x 4 + 22 x100 = 5000G, that's 100G/$1.
Clearly the second option is much better.

Whenever I play control/combo deck with lots of cards in hand, I just can't resist the urge to BM.
Me: Attack with all minions first, spam spells randomly, leaving his face at 1-4 hp, "That was a mistake" pretending I just ran out of spells. Keep spamming to make it look real.
Opponent: "Sorry about that" / "Well played"
Me: "Thank you" then cast Hell fire.

With this mana curve, you will have to play from behind most of the time. And Shaman is really not a good class to play from behind.

Prioritizing observer mode over replay is the stupidest thing IMO. Replay function covers everything that observer mode has to offer plus more. It is where you learn the most out of the game. Replay allows you record your own games/download pro players' games to watch again, fast forward/rewind/pause, and analyse the best play/possible mistakes that were overlooked. More importantly you can share it with other players to ask for different opinions. You can't really do that in observer mode. Besides, if people really want to watch a particular high profile match at the moment, the alternatives are everywhere. They can just turn on twitch tv or other stream channels and be done with it.

Yea I would love to see that happen. New board and card backs are definitely possible. Maybe a even small adventure?

From my personal experience, 1-5 are usually warm ups because you mostly face beginners. Mistakes are very common so it's not very difficult to pass this range. Sometimes you run into very strong opponents and ended up 2-3 or 3-3 but that doesn't happen very often.
From 5 - 7, games get a little bit tougher, you are facing moderately good players with a decent deck. Opponents do make some small mistakes here and there so try capitalising on them and control the game.
From 7-10, opponent are really good, this is the range where most veteran arena players arrive. It's also where your deck quality matters the most. Games are generally close; you have to play perfectly and sometimes hope for a good draw to close the game.
From 10 - 12, you face Legend card back opponents or those with ridiculous decks like 4-5 Fireballs, 4 Fire Elementals and stuff like that. Your deck needs to be as crazy as them to stand a chance. Occasionally you get paired down to people with lower wins and get some unexpectedly easy 12 win runs.

I hope there are better alternative options rather than buying regular packs and pray for a good RNG. Something more expensive but less random like Epic Expert pack: 400 g, contains at least 1 epic card, Legendary Expert pack: 1000 g, contains at least 1 Legendary card or Dust pack: 100 g, contains 150 dusts.
