This completely defeats the purpose of the card. I think you'll notice in most situtaions Yogg-Saron will usually end up clearing the ENTIRE board, including itself. By nerfing it, it literally makes the card useless because of the million ways it could die and it would just stop. Additionally, this would require Blizzard to completely change how the Battlecry mechanic functions. This idea seems very short sighted and a big middle finger to people who actually use Yogg, considering he is so random that he hardly sees true ladder play besides being a last resort panic button in tempo mages.

posted a message on Should Blizzard make Legacy Packs/Expansions?
    Quote from Tandem21 >>

It is a very puzzling move at first glance. Keeping the packs in one shape or another lets them make more money, right? Why would they somehow become allergic to making money? Protecting new players is a valid statement, but considering the many potential possible alternatives, this makes no real sense.

The more likely answer, I think, is that they want to keep Standard the default format. Allowing packs to remain purchasable eventually makes Wild the preferred format because of the increased variety, complexity and options available to players. By removing packs they control the format more effectively.

Additionally, players might become satisfied with the collection they do have in Wild (as it may become quite substantial) and stop purchasing future packs. This increases the pressure on them to make more varied and interesting cards. By cycling out cards, they can rehash some of the ones while claiming the effects introduced are "good for the meta".

In reality, this is a shrewd business move. With the introduction of formats they manage to keep things fresh and players hooked on purchasing new content. That new players should benefit is only circumstantial.

Wow, I didn't even think of that at first but that actually makes a ton of sense. Loving these responses guys, thanks a lot!

posted a message on Should Blizzard make Legacy Packs/Expansions?

Now that Goblins vs. Gnomes and Curse of Naxxramas are stuck in the wild format, I've been thinking about Blizzard's decision to completely remove GvG packs from the shop and Naxx from the Solo Adventures, and I'm really just confused as to why it was necessary to do this. One could argue that those cards could confuse new players, but would it really be too much to add a disclaimer when buying either that says something like "The cards featured in this pack/adventure can be used ONLY in the Wild format."? I know you can still craft the cards, but as someone who doesn't have a lot of money to spend on the game (I've been playing for free for nearly 2 years now), crafting cards that can only be used in one of the two formats is not really a good idea.

But then I thought "If they could bring back outdated cards like those from GvG I would actually consider grabbing some of those packs". I think this would be a lot more affordable for players like myself, and it really seems like it would be an easy addition with no real repercussions.

So what do you guys think? Would this be a good idea or should these cards be doomed to a life of craft-only? I'm curious to see what the community thinks and what kind of alternative solutions everyone can come up with.

posted a message on Real Talk - How Good is Mulch?

Mulch is a really weird card to me. It seems like whenever I try to use it, I get absolutely wrecked by whatever card my opponent gets, even if I mulch something like Ragnaros the Firelord, they'll get something even better like Deathwing. However, whenever it's used against me, I'll get something like Leper Gnome after my opponent mulches my Ancient of War. As far as I remember, it never even got used when it originally dropped in TGT, but now it's making a slight resurgance? So I wanted to ask the community, what do you guys think about Mulch? Do you think it's better than Naturalize? I'm curious to see the opinions on it.

There is no replacement for Flamewaker. Its stats are too strong and unique to be replaced by any one card. It would be a good idea to spend some gold on BRM just to get Flamewaker, it's a staple in most tempo mage dekcs and other mage decks in general.
