I really hope this is not the only new way to play hearthstone for 2019. As a casual player this is really boring to me and will not impact me at all. If they do not bring in a new format separate from standard and wild I will lose interest each expansion rather quickly.
It makes more sense to imagine why we're not getting Genn or Baku when you consider that we did not get any of the three princes in KotFT. They are awesome cards that inspire creative deck building, but they are not the premiere mechanic of the expansion, they were just some of the initial cards teased. I'm just a little sad they gave us Marin ahead of time to inspire hype for KnC and don't appear to be continuing that trend.
All I know so far is I have been practically unable to play Marin because I get continuously abused by priest decks that only exist to get otks off Marin. Either they play the chest and kill me with it, or I try to play Marin at some point and they kill me with the one on their side.
Had some fun playing it the first time but it's honestly too easy of a boss battle brawl. I beat it twice already and I feel like it would be difficult to lose
I think one of the reasons Blizzard has trouble balancing cards before they're released is not because they are unskilled players or because they don't understand synergy, but because they lack the competitive environment that causes extremely aggressive and unfun decks to be made. The way I see it, lots and lots of playtesting for Blizzard is not too different than what friendly matches are to most players: a place to play fun decks, win or lose, and experience good games. I think very few people play friendly matches with pirate warrior or aggro shaman, and the same probably goes for Blizzard's playtesting. They need to simulate a more competitive environment where coin doomsayer isn't good enough to be able to see the actual problems with every meta so far and with the ladder system in general.
Less 1 mana 3/2s and 30/30s that determine the meta from day one. More cards like potion seller of mixtures and second rate bruiser. Also more interesting cards like kazakus to "replace" reno. please don't move reno to classic, but make an interesting and rewarding reason for playing no duplicates. Maybe a golden monkey style card that costs ten mana and replaces your deck if you have no duplicates. I know shadowverse has something similar (no requirement though, just bad stats) but it's a really fun card to play and I think it makes for an interesting jaraxxus like tool for control decks.
I have been having the exact same trouble. Usually I can get him pretty low, to around 6 health or so even after a reno. But my deck contains no burst, so if he clears the board with a twisting nether or good shadowflame I can not reach for lethal before he plays jaraxxus. I am thinking about adding one kabal songstealer instead of one of my azure drakes. It could help deal with certain cards like sylvanas or twilight drake which really control the board.
I at least think this seems like more of a control shaman card than midrange or aggro. When midrange gets 0 mana 5/5s with taunt, I don't think they're gonna spend 5 mana on the same thing with a delayed benefit.
Seems like a good anti-aggro or anti-zoo card. Not amazing in arena, because, even though it's a board clear, two damage isn't a crazy amount like flame strike (also, it's a rare). I think it'll find a home in constructed in Reno mage or value mage, depending on the meta.

Azure Drake was in the classic set.

Elise is not in wild

Probably just for beating Hagatha, whatever that special challenge ends up being.

Seems great in a controll-ish Reno priest. Ironically priest is the class that can always use more heals
