This deck seems quite defensive, but lacking a late game. Without those legendaries, maybe go for some more mid game aggro with blessing of kings and some chargers?
I use sunfury protector and shattered sun clerics, as well as a heal dude. Arcane intellect just seem too slow for me. Maybe if you build around spells, the intellect is better, but you will often say bye to any board control...
I'll post the same thing I did in a similar thread. I play mostly mage and I'm rank 5 legend EU right now. In the EU Managrind Swiss (this friday) I played the same deck and reached the top 8, another mage went on to win the entire thing.
The old aggro mage and freeze mage are no longer viable, but midrange is probably one of the top 3 consistent decks right now, along with Shaman and Druid.
I missed that tournament, in which the mages did quite well. However, that is pretty much the exception which confirms the rule. I think this tournament i more describing of the mages current state http://challonge.com/MGNASWISS8 In the previous NA tourney, there were not a single mage even playing.
It might even be so that mages could have an advantage some times simply because other decks dont have to consider them in the metagame, see the rise and fall of the Faerie Dragon
Going from dominating the tournament scene to being largly obsolete, I feel it is time to discuss possible buffs to make mages viable again at the highest level. Of course there could be some undiscovered deck out there, but the general picture seems pretty dark.
To kick it off, what about:
Polymorph, down to 3 mana from 4. Mages have too many 4 drops, and other heroes have removal at 3 mana as well, so I feel it could be justified. Would open a lot of combo opportunities.
I think if you manage to play rag and cairne first, malygos could be an alternative to Ysera. I never won against that dragon! 8 damage arcane missels and 11 dmg fireballs hurt...
I am trying to make my budget version of this work, but it lacks card draws and rush defence without all those legendaries, I only have Alexsztraza... Maybe its better to go for more cheap spells, Auctioneer and Argus in my case... otherwise I have to wait, and make a good controll warlock with my aquired Joraxxus instead...
Lots of people have legendaries, but not that one. I think cards like Alexzstraza, King Crush, Gruul or the Beast are the best replacements. Great job of covering the non legendary replacements!
Pyroblast was nerfed because the card is so simple to use and card efficient. No other card can do 10 damage on its own. IMO it still has its uses, as you are often forced to use frostbolts and fireballs on minions, and one more high impact spell can win you the game.
The Alextrasza combo is hard to pull off now, but if you have board control and your opponent has used most of his heals and removals, it can still work.
Nat will not e touched. 3 and 4 health early makes a huge difference, frostbolt or a 2+1 attack would be enough to kill him and make him totally useless. He can still be silenced or killed with a little effort.
Statistics show that going first is an advantage for every class but rogue (a 1-2%edge), so the coin will be left alone.
I am a little tired of rag tbh, 9 mana would be fine imo. So many of his competitors are 9ers and he would still be used a lot.
I think the problem is that he is too strong for how generic he is. He barely has synergies with anything, but is still the best big bad dude for any deck with a lategame. A slight nerf to promote the other big drops would be good imo, attack damage or cost. However I do see the beauty of a 8 drop 8-8 doing 8 random damage...
When I saw him play he had the Amani berserkers replaced by 2 sunfury protectors, I think that should fix some of the rushdown weakness. He swapped the frost elemental for sylvan after some time too.
The water elementals are very weak to priests, so I am thinking of swapping one for an auctioneer. Also the early game is a bit in question as I dont have Thalnos. Some mix of looter, engineer and maybe kobold or owl...

Did anyone make a super defensive deck with tonnes of cheap spells yet? A combo like Antonidas+coin+mirror image+frost bolt seems very powerful...

Noob raging after forgetting flamestrike existed and loosing 5 minions having no cards in hand? Close this thread please.

Which level did you get to with that? Looks a bit weak to aggro and not so much card draw, would love to read about your experiences!

Sheep from 1-1 to 0-1 and no longer be a beast.
Blizzard back to 5 mana from 6 or Cone of Cold back to 3 mana from 4.

Maybe in a year I will have all those cards...
