Opponent invoked Galakrond Priest twice, played it, and didn't destroy any of my three minions. Also, no weapon equipped for him and his health and armor aren't displayed. No activity after that, and no rope, so had to quit Hearthstone and restart it. Once logged back in, not reconnected to my game and no notice that I lost. This was in Casual mode.
Went 1-3 in Tavern Brawl. Nice deck. Vargoth is garbage in this deck. Never played him once even though it seemed like he was in my hand every single game.
If I remember correctly, you won't be able to purchase any packs with gold during the pre-release event, you can only open the packs that you pre-purchased. I can't answer your third question, have never attended or hosted an event.
Fun deck, but I've been playing it all night and can't get past level 10 with it (started at level 10, no stars, still at level 10, no stars). Again, fun deck, but not a ladder-climber.
Not a good deck. Not even a fun deck. I've played around 15 games at rank 10 with this deck and have won 1 game. Definitely not a deck to climb ladder, and not a deck to have fun with, unless you enjoy getting annihilated by every single archetype out there.
Of course Blizzard and Hearthpwn is going to promote the fact that a female made it to the Hearthstone Championship. Females make up over 50% of the population and Blizzard, as well as Hearthpwn, is in the business of making money. Doesn't it make sense that they would try to recruit over 50% of the population to a game that makes them money? Highlighting females and minorities that aren't their base supporters (non-white, non-Asian, non-male) to entice said minorities to their game in hopes of them spending money is just good business and marketing. They've already got all the white and Asian males they're going to get, why wouldn't they try to expand their user base? Why is everyone so butt-hurt over one article out of a thousand that happens to highlight a female competitor?
I checked the Fire Gathering site and there's only one gathering in my state (MO) and it's three hours away. I even checked for KS, since I'm in KC, but nothing. Is Blizzard hoping that people will start hosting more FSGs because of this skin?

Fun deck, I was able to pull off the combo on my third match.

Opened 145 packs, 6 legendaries, none golden. Fuck Blizzard.

Same thing happened again against another Galakrond Priest, except when I logged back in, I was reconnected to my game.

Mage is my least favorite class, but this deck is pretty fun. Thanks!
