Hi guys, f2p here looking for some opinion / advice, assuming I have:
- All adventures - Classic 687/723 cards - GvG 170/226 - TgT 050/244 - WoG 196/244 - Some dust saved (about 6K) - Some gold saved (about 16K)
I was wondering if it is really WORTH IT buying MSoG. So far I didn't really see any OP deck and most of the players come to the forums to complain about how weak this expansion is.
I skipped TGT for the same reason, didn't think it was worth it and just crafted some of the good cards for the decks I would really like to play (didn't craft any legendaries in that case, only some common, rares and epics).
So, what's your two cents on my case? Should I buy some/how many MSoG packs or just craft the good stuff? If I need dust, should I buy Classic even though I'm missing just 2 really good Legendaries?
7 here. I stopped for about a year and came back around april 2016. I'm at 7 again, entertaining the possibiilty of quitting for good.
Why 7? When I came back I set a goal to get all remaining heroes to level 60 & golden portraits (I had only Rogue and Warlock at that when I stopped playing HS).
I'm about 12~14 days of finishing golden portraits for my mage then priest, so, all heroes done... after I finish this, not sure I will still play regularly or if I will enter another 'sabbatical' until next expansion or bigger changes.
I believe the main reason behind this decision is not related to confusion... instead it is to make the game friendlier to new players.
See, it is daunting for a new player (not to mention costly), to start the catching-up game when there are so many cards to collect.
By rotating out some of the expansions/adventures, they can manage to keep the pool of cards under some maximum amount and thus new players can flock every year without fearing getting too far behind on competitive decks/cards.
Is there an easy and reliable way to import/export decks to an external app? The last time I tried DeckTracker it wasn't reliable at all and you had to correct a lot of mistakes (importing everything manually from the scratch was actually a better option).
Yes, DeckTracker works really fine. Some hiccups when a new HS patch is released but usually works as intended. I use it to manage a small collection of "test-drive" decks every now and then before reverting to my preferred decks,
The best way I've found to organize the decks was this:
Create all Standard Decks just to set the order you want. One for each Hero.
Now do the same for Wild Decks, preferably in the same order.
Now, as long as you don't delete any deck, they will not change order, even when you relog.
If you want to change a deck to test-drive, just edit the deck instead of deleting it. I use DeckTracker to export my decks to Hearthstone, found it really handy to keep things in order.
And I say: WHY is it a problem? In magic you have 5 colors, each has diferent options, but you know what you're getting as a core set of actions, red is the color of burn, you know you will get low costed, charge filled high damage minions and damage spells, sure, you get other stuff, but every single expansion red is the one that brings the burn, and nobody complains about it, why people complain all the time hearthstone red's version (hunter for creatures/spells, mage for spells) is "cancer" or "nobrainer"? Because they don't really know about card games and can't accept is needed for the rock-paper-scissor system of all board games.
Hmmm, I quit playing Magic more than 15 years ago but as far as I remember, you can combine your deck with other colors to not be framed by only one strenght/weakness. In HS you cannot combine hero strengths and as I understand, the neutral cards do not fill this gap better than you can do it in Magic.
Not a critic, I just cant wrap my mind around such comparisons to Magic most of the times. Care to elaborate your reasoning? Maybe I can learn something if you care to explain it a little more.
If you can calculate your pity timer, I suggest you buy the packs that are closest to the next valuable cards (epic or legendary).
If you cannnot, well, missing mostly epics and legendaries, you shouldn't try to find those in packs. Best bet would be just buying packs for the dust and crafting whatever you need/want.
1) When the match starts, will we see the 5 Legendary cards that will be included? Really necessary to pray to RNGsus, wether to draw them or to put them at the end of the deck...
2) By the wording I understand that if you get this card after the game starts, let's say from a Portal or from a Shredder, you DO NOT get it to activate since it wasn't in you deck at the beginning... right ?
Any info on these?
*bump*
I think this got lost in the flood... or no one knows the answers yet?

Thank you guys for all your input.
I'm gonna buy around 60 packs and monitor my pity timer for the next legendary then stop immediately.
Hopefully this will net me most of the useful cards and dust to craft whatever is missing, but I will wait a bit to craft anything.
Once more, thanks again for all your suggestions, everything was useful and got me thinking to some degree.
I wish you guys a Happy New Year and lots of Legendaries in 2017!!!!

To OP: following the same logic you applied to Brann, N'Zoth and Fandral, why don't you consider Baron Rivendare as ultimate eternal value tier?
He is not even on any tier at all.

Nice job dude!
Really cool initiative to help new players get acquainted with different decks than Trump's Basics and Blizz own starter decks.
'Hope some moderator pins this post, I'm surely recommending it to my friends who recently started playing HS.

OP: mind sharing your deck list? I would like to give it a test-drive in Wild.

Tempted to give it a try but I don't have 1 of each: Forbidden Shaping, Embrace the Shadow and Shadowform...
I'm considering 2x Shifting Shade and Velen... any thoughts?
