He's an extremely powerful Troll alchemist (witch-doctor), as far as we know, but he's also allegedly a Demon or a Dragon (see trailer or Kabal introduction) or has aquired enough power to be able to morph that way.
We will probably see more details as more of the expansion is revealed.
Also, he seems to be involved with the Kaza-kola, which strongly resembles the Goblin Kaja-Cola, which then is made of Kaja'mite (the metal that made Goblin so smart in ancient times and rebel against their Troll slavers). Some refs here: http://wow.gamepedia.com/Kaja'mite
Basically, he's got enough flavour to become a full Warcraft character, with its own plotline. He could become a new Troll Tribe leader in Zul'Farrak (Troll City in Tanaris, near Gadgetzan), or farther in the South Seas (see the Zandalari plotline http://wow.gamepedia.com/Zandalar_tribe ). It would be a shame if Kazakus doesn't get the attention he deserves.
In perspective, he's a virtuous example of how Warcraft characters can be introduced from HS. They just need enough support to aquire their full status. This, in turn, enhances their status as legendary cards in HS, which is equally important in a game that is subtly but strongly based on flavour.

Wait. Is it possible to survive in wow with just gold, by playing like daily quests and professions?

I am laughing in the face of all those who were afraid of a new Priest meta.
Tempo and Reno Mage will smash you down so hard that you will regret not having a Priest meta.

Renomage is gonna be the bane of fast ladder...

Kazakus is a HS native character.

On its own Patches is good, an auto-include in any Pirate deck, but insufficient to call it a Patches deck unless you heavily build around it.
It could simply be a variant of Miracle Rogue.
I hope it is viable, and perhaps some new cards will make it more consistent.
It looks fun on paper.

I strongly disagree with the OP.
What classes need to differentiate is FLAVOUR.
That can be accomplished with a playstyle, but is in no way bound to it.
Eg. Spell Druid is perfectly druid-like. Pirate Druid or Mech Druid are not, and devs should prevent such types.
Agrro Druid or Control Druid or Token Druid mean nothing towards FLAVOUR, which is the only thing that matters for classes to FEEL different.

Priest meta is inherently impossible: the vast majority of players will never play control, even if it is top tier.

Now, this is interesting.

There we have a character which is actually uglier than Therazane.
Not complete garbage, but not worth any room in any deck.
2
This is actually playable.
Not sure if worth taking room in a deck, but it's a good filler, considered we're likely to see some more taunts around.
1
Lol. At least it's a fancy card.
2
Value is there. Problem is it's quite unreliable with current sets of cards.

So, it must be some Pandaria stuff.
Looking at the sneak peek, it could even be some Pandaren.
I hope for Taran Zhu.

i doubt it.
And i doubt even more that Blizz will let a Control meta happen.
I think it will be slightly slower, more consistently weighted around the last turns. But not much beyond 10...

Well, it has beast synergies, namely Tundra Rhino, Houndmaster, etc.
It is slow, but also hard to remove.
Overall good, even if not compelling for crafting.
