No, they didn't have to do that...unless they need a playerbase of course. You don't go fishing without a bait....

Yeah, but 3 packs are 3 packs more that may encourage f2p players to stay f2p....and that is nothing Blizzard really wants. Blizzard actually hates f2p players...they just needed them for the initial hype of the game. With the increased rate of expansions and several of those cards being mandatory(so increasing power of cards) they make sure that it will be hard to be f2p and competetive at the same time. In a year or so they will start giving away all old cards except legendaries for free(and make a big hype about it)...by that time those cards will be obsolete tho.

Im a f2p player aswell with the exception of buying naxx and BRM and im not having any problems.

I think they should handle out some free packs too. On the other hand I don't understand the whining here. Due to tavern brawl we get almost a free pack(winning 1 game, seriously...and there was just one week where I needed two games for that victory so far) every week....and if you started saving gold from your dailies when the xpack was announced then you would now be able to buy around 25packs anyway.

Yeah, it would be fun if the opponent would have to draw a card tho. The way it is now it's neither useful nor fun....gonna end up like the angry chicken.

In wild, a Luna's Pocket Galaxy as soon as turn 3 could be a little dangerous.

The 'discount' still means you're paying like 50 dollar for just 50 packs... Thats the same amount you usually pay for A-title games for console/pc like GTA 5 and Skyrim? 

Those 50 packs only give you like 5 out of the 27 epic cards, and 2 of the 20 legendaries... So buying all cards for TgT with money would cost you at least 5 to 10 times those 50 dollars... How is a single Hearthstone expansion worth that many times a game like Skyrim...? 

Don't get me wrong, they're doing a great job at making new cards. But the real-money-price of packs is just waaaay of the chart. And now they even feel like giving out 3 free packs will lose them too much money...? That just screams money grabbers to me...

I don't like the way hearthstone is going... Game is becoming boring and TgT was a bad expansion with so few playable cards.. Really hope they will do something better in the future and don't overlook these problems cause of the good marketing that is getting them money

not stop playing but i'll not spend a dollar from now on. its not all about 3 free packs its about what it means, i will not pay any money to a greedy company. greed is not a solution, look at riot for example, i spend 300 dollars to League of Legends but they dont force me even for 1 dollar, skins didnt change anything between players. in lol if u dont have legendary skins it changes nothing but in hearthstone if u dont have legendary cards u cant climb to legendary rank. do u know why there are too many face hunters and aggro paladins ? i know, because its CHEAPER than a control deck with ysera, ragnaros etc or a handlock with malganis, jaraxxus, giants. i really want a control warrior deck, more than anything in this game but i cant afford dust requirement and its end up like a cheap aggro paladin and a midrange hunter.

"Does it feel rewarding enough to climb every month?"  is that a serious question? Even when there would be a pack for win or 100g per 3 games instead of 10g some people would still feel like they are not getting enough. Getting more rewards would just make the game less desirable for casual players that have to work, have families or struggle in school just because they would feel like they have no chance in getting better rewards. Overall rich would be richer and poor poorer ... 

For me, I think a little bit of gold/dust at 15-10-5-Legend would be enough.

More incentives for ladder will just increase the aggro decks played there, and wipe out any reason to play non-netdecks.
