I can't say I've ever heard anything good about Fandom, and its wikis are dumpster fires.

Yeah, putting the restriction in parentheses makes it look like reminder text for a game rule instead of something specific to this card. Team 5 really needs a better technical writer on staff. (And the person who refuses to carry over expansion keywords needs a demotion.)

That's a prime example of why they probably shouldn't have made Reckless Experimenter to begin with. I'm surprised that they still don't understand the fundamentals of their game well enough to know how not to break it.

There's ample precedent in other card games of the kind of cards to track. Cards which reduce costs and cards which draw or generate cards, for example, should be auto-includes for watch lists. The way Blizzard has talked for years suggested it understood this, but apparently not. And none that addresses the sleaziness of nerfing an existing card instead of changing an already powerful unreleased card.

    Two things:

    1) They seriously didn't for see the interaction?! Cards like Reckless Experimenter should be put on a list the moment they're printed and checked against every time a card with relevant keywords is created. This is basic design stuff that I assumed they were already doing since they always claim to be mindful of "design space."

    2) This practice of nerfing old cards to make room for new cards is very, very crooked. The interaction was known before SN1P-SN4P's pending release. It should be the one changed, not Reckless Experimenter.

posted a message on Rise of Shadows Card Nerfs - What Do Pros Want To See Smacked?

Preparation and Brawl should go to the Hall of Fame. Neither of these cards ever made sense within their respective classes, and they're both potent. If Blizzard is really serious about reinforcing class identity this year, then these two cards are ripe for the Hall of Fame

I agree on Zilliax. It's powerful and pervasive, but it's not oppressive. That's an impressive design feat.

I have to wonder, though: Who are these people they're testing keywords on?! How the heck can they not grok keywords, especially when meanings are a tooltip away? It would be like somehow encountering a group of people confused by a wordless stop sign. Who are these people who can't absorb shorthand communication?

0-3 here. Out-valued by a warrior, out-tempoed by a rogue, and outran by a warlock. I probably just had a bad streak; I've seen okay results with Murloc Shaman on the ladder.

Looks like I'll be dual-wielding Spellbreakers after rotation. I don't want to be caught flatfooted with stuff like this around.

"Damage from hand" is considered at odds with warlock's class identity, but not priest's. Riiiiight. . .

posted a message on Dean Ayala Asks: What Would Get You Back Into Hearthstone?

Reestablish each class's identity and stick with them. Too many mechanics have bled across too many classes with little rhyme or reason. Hand sizes, hand buffing, and dragons immediately come to mind.

When I first started playing the game, I was impressed by how faithfully WoW's classes were represented. Now, it's just a dang mess of flavorless mechanics encouraged by parasitic card design.

Uh, no card back regardless of whether you have it or not. That's swell. The post got my hopes up, and then the game dashed them to pieces. Holiday card backs really should be evergreen.

posted a message on Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Changes - Wild Growth, Nourish, Level Up!, Saronite Chain Gang, Leeching Poison
    Quote from Lecroq >>

Players should be able to defeat these opressing old decks by playing with new powerful cards, instead of blizzard defeating them, because the cards they printed are too weak.

Yup. And add to this the fact that they created the Leeching Poison and Level Up! problems themselves since Kingsbane and Baku both came out after those cards. For all the times we hear of cards being nerfed for "limiting design space," they apparently don't think about limits as often as you'd expect.
