"Most people don't play enough" I don't think that's the reason why most people don't hit rank 5. As long as each person that queues up with the intent of winning you will have a small percentage of people who are able to climb to the highest ranks.
I think it is actually the reason. I mean I'm definitly not a top player, yet I have reached rank 5 ( If not 4, can't remember ) with a totally half-assed decks during the first GvG season.
It was with a "handlock"/demonlock with only a single giant ( And it was a molten one, so didn't get it out that often ), strange tech cards ( That sacrificial pact worked wonders against mirror entities and other handlocks )...And I was still going up when the season ended, I simply didn't find enough time to go as high as I could.
It was during hollidays so I knew from then on that I would never play more, so I simply could never get legend with my play schedule ( Or by playing try-hard decks. The fact I crafted Golden Malygos and Golden Anub'Arak without ever crafting Dr Boom probably says a lot about that ever happening ).
Rank 5 isn't hard to get to, in fact no rank is hard to get to since you can get at any rank with any winrate ( Even sub 50%, but that would begin being insanely long ) provided you can pull off enough games.
So yeah, not only is it a matter of time, but there's also probably a matter of wanting to. I could rank up. Or I could play mill rogue. Especially if you're not playing a lot, you're probably not gonna waste your limited play time tryharding.

That's fair, just as there are a lot of peole who don't play enough or don't tryhard much, there are a LOT of people who try their hardest to climb while netdecking only to be stuck at a certain rank. This deck I have been playing I find is really good one to climb because most people haven't faced a lot of the cards and two it has great matchups against a lot of classes.
Legend just takes more time. Most of the time after someone reaches legend they start experimenting and allowing people at near legend to go in by default of them theory crafting.
Hmm, judging by my recent wins towards rank 5, I would say yes simply because it's flexability as a healing defensive option and offensive option. A good replacement I guess would be sylvana's, huhu princess, ram wrangler, stranglethorn.
I think I'll trust blizzard's number before hearsay.
Also, despite winstreaks, there is something in statistics called regression to the mean, if everyone keeps playing no matter what rank they will reach their true rank.

Getting rank 5 is significant for a lot of people. For me I generally stop trying after rank 5 but seeing as only 2% of people reach rank 5 or higher I think it will help a lot of people who want to get to the milestone.
Added to the fact that this deck is cheap and yet very effective.
The hardest opponents you will face will be shamans but who doesn't have difficulty against shamans? Zoo lock is also tough but with recent implementations I have a good win rate vs zoolocks.
I faced 50% shamans while climbing the ladder, I believe I have a positive win rate against them but they aren't easy by any measure.
Priests are one of the easiest matchups for myself. Check out my self-created deck.
To beat a priest - Early game is key, if you don't have early game dominance you will lose the game because priests are probably the best late game class. Priest's can't deal will 4 attack creatures, in my deck I have fiery bat, desert camel, if they get hound mastered on an empty board, the priest might as well concede.
Honestly, to beat a priest you have to be a priest. By that I mean, know what he will do next turn. Don't put your minions in nova range or make it difficult for him to nova. Be weary of cabal. With all things, just play as much as you can and you will learn from your mistakes naturally whether it be with gameplay or deck building.

Not sure. But as you approach rank 5 it approaches 50%

I've been fine-tunning my deck since the season restart. I think I've found a great mixture.
Tomb spider is way too slow. 4 mana 3/3 is just too bad in this meta.

I'm asking you where did you get the 10%?

Where is the true stats then?

Hey guys, I've made rank 5 two seasons in a row with this deck where previously I was rank 14.
This deck is very well rounded and I wanted to share it with you guys to maybe help some of you hunter players who want to still keep playing hunter.
Let me know what you think http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/519329-guaranteed-rank-5

I have updated my deck. Desert camel has just been too detrimental. Carrion grub is better in this meta.
