posted a message on Headed for Legend - S22 January 2016

Rank 2 now and I'm already so tired of this. Had an insane winstreak with Zoolock yesterday (Brann, no Flame Imps) but stopped playing when I  didn't progress anymore. I think that's one of the most important things to keep in mind if you climb: Stop as soon as you notice you're getting tired/restless/discontent because you feel like you're stagnating because that's how tilts and losing streaks start. And stick to the decks you know how to play. It's no use if people claim that for example Control Priest or Freeze Mage is working great for them but you don't know how to play it.

I had the most success with some standard lists (Secret Pala, Zoo) where I changed one or two cards to fit my playstyle. This also requires you to think about why there are certain cards in a deck, why they're good in certain matchups, why and at which point they're crucial and which are bad and make you lose the game against certain classes. Instead of netdecking the current "80% wins!!11"-list if you're stuck it's really better to make a break and see if your personal best deck is successful later again. I also think people assume that the meta changes way more quickly than it actually does due to the small and therefore super biased sample size each of us is facing individually.

    Archon Team League Championship

The incredible sum of $250,000 prize money will be spread among the very best Hearthstone teams worldwide. Team Archon with the lead of Amaz organized this team league starting on July 1st that will feature the big names of Hearthstone eSports. Every team will be matched against each other over several weeks before determining the participants of the grand finale. For more information of the League's format, watch Amaz explaining it.

    Quick Info

    • Prizepool: $250,000
    • Teams: 8 (3 players each)
    • Start: July 1, 2015
    • League Format: Round Robin
    • Match Format: Conquest
    • Stream: Amaz on Twitch
    • VODs: Amaz on Youtube

    Teams and Players

    Rules

There are multiple phases of competition in the tournament, using several different formats.

    Phase Overview:

    • Phase 1: The Showdown (Round Robin Weeks)
    • Phase 1.5: Redemption Series
    • Phase 2: Satellite
    • Phase 3: Live Finale

Phase 1: The Showdown (Round Robin Weeks)

    • All teams will compete with each other online over the course of 7 weeks, for a total of 28 series.
    • For each week every player brings 2 decks, so every team has 6 decks total. All 6 decks must be of different classes. Decks can be modified and change ownership in subsequent weeks.
    • For each game, the team blind picks a class/deck within 1 minute and the deck's owner plays the game.
    • Best of 11 team conquest format: whenever a deck wins, it is locked and cannot be played again during that series. The team that first achieves 6 wins, wins that series.

    Bench Rule

    • If the same player loses 2 games in a row, they are benched and cannot play in another match until a teammate wins a game.
    • If a team has no available players due to benching and deck locking, the benched players will automatically be unbenched.

    Points & Placing

    • When a team wins a series, they receive a “Win” point; otherwise they receive a “Loss” point.
    • Teams are ranked in descending order of “Win” points.
    • Tiebreakers in the order they are applied:
      • tiebreaker scores (calculated as: “Win” points - “Loss” points)
      • results of the match between teams (in case of double ties)
      • separate mini-tiebreaker tournament (in case of triple+ ties)

    Phase 1.5: Redemption Series

    • The teams placed 6th and 7th in Phase 1 will play one more round in the same format at Phase 1. The winning team will qualify for Phase 2 (Satellite), while the losing team will be eliminated from the tournament.

    Phase 2: Satellite

    • The teams placed 3rd, 4th and 5th in Phase 1 and the winning team from Redemption Series.
    • Same format at Phase 1 but decks are submitted once and cannot be modified or change ownership throughout this Phase.
    • Double elimination bracket, seeding and matchups will be determined by the team that placed 3rd in Phase 1.
    • The two winning teams will proceed to Phase 3, while the 2 losing teams will be eliminated from the tournament.

    Phase 3: Live Finale

    • Participating: the teams that placed 1st and 2nd in Phase 1, as well as the two winning teams of Phase 2.
    • Phase starts with semi-Double elimination bracket.
      • The team placed 1st in Phase 1 will determine the first matchups.
      • Then, winners play against each other and losers play against each other.
      • The team that scored 2-0 in the bracket will be the first finalist.
      • The team that scored 0-2 is eliminated from the tournament.
      • The teams that scored 1-1 proceed to the Pinnacle Phase.
    • In the Pinnacle phase, the two teams that scored 1-1 will compete with each other and the winner will be the second finalist.
    • The two finalists will compete to determine the Champion.
    • Same format as Phase 1 but players are allowed to switch decklists only for the Pinnacle phase.

    Rosters:

    • Each team appoints one of their members to be the Team Captain throughout the tournament.
    • In case of emergency, the team can choose one individual outside of the league to substitute a team player. This is allowed only once for each team player and only for Phase 1. Each team can choose only one alternate player.
    • If a player drops out of Phase 1 for any reason other than emergencies, the admins can disqualify the player and apply a penalty of 1 game from each series to all remaining matches of Series 1 for the team. All cases of dropouts will be examined by the admins on a case-by-case basis.

    Additional Rules:

    • Players are responsible for being on time for their matches, having secure internet connections and generally showing good sportsmanship. They are also required to refrain from spectating their teammates’ matches, in order to ensure fairness. More detailed rules regarding disconnects, no-shows and other rule of conduct have been announced to the players in the player agreement. Any unexpected events will be handled by the admins on a case-by-case basis.
