Extremely disappointed about Whizbang staying in Wild. What a missed opportunity to just bring the card back

Whizbang was a godsend to free players because all they had to do was craft him and they basically got free decks to use,  of course there is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks they could allow something like that to stick around in standard

posted a message on Reward Track Update Coming Soon

Rewards still won't be good enough to bring me back I think.  The biggest problem is I have experience with battle pass systems in other games where players got upset, so the rewards were tweaked with big fanfare and then 6 months later all the changes were slowly reverted and lowered again and again.  I just don't trust Act-Blizz not to do the same thing.

Bottom line this is the end of the line for FTP players. Well I suppose the FTP players can come back and play each new expansion, but with half as many opened packs why would you want to?

I normally can earn enough gold to buy 75 to 100 packs each season just by completing daily quests and 10 gold for every 3 wins. Now I'll be lucky to get enough gold to buy 40 to 50 new packs each season.

Q: What kind of a decks can I build from only opening 50 new packs each expansion?

A: Not ones good enough to want to keep playing.

Thanks Blizzard...It's been fun while it lasted. This is my last season.

Yeah I’m thinking this is my last season too. I’m not even bothering with the Tavern Brawls anymore, and I barely touch Battlegrounds like I used to. The aggro BS combined with ActiBlizz pricing everything out has really sucked out any motivation to play

Tavern Brawls were my favorite mode cause 1/2 the time I didn't need to make a deck and worry I didn't have this or that legendary card and now with the new system nothing in Brawls apparently counts towards the new quests so that killed the game for me right there.  Act-Blizz seems to be focused on milking the few whales for every penny and giving the middle finger to everyone else.  Guess they got to the point were they realized no matter what they did X number of players would still play and they are fine with letting the game coast at that point.

I'm not sure why this system would be worse in any scenario. Sure, you can say it takes a little more time, on higher levels, but the rewards are usually equally high - more daily quests needed -> more gold as a reward. It is nice being able to earn more than just gold,
Especially with the Tavern Pass, which I bought, being one of the more generous offers - $20 for the period of an expansion to get gold faster, some skins, and other vanity stuff. Great for collectors.
And even if you were a hardcore player getting those 30 wins a day, now you can play even more to earn XP for just playing games and after you reach level 50, every next level earns you 150 gold. Considering gaining a level past level 50 might average out to around 30 wins as well, you get even more gold and have much more room for doing so, if you manage to get one level every day past level 50, considering all the rewards you already got up to level 50.

Finishing all the quests, + waiting till midnight to get that one extra quest, Ive managed to get all the way to level 15 just on the first day and I had quite a lot of fun doing so.

the system is worse cause it's easier for them now to lower the rewards without the casual player noticing.  Even the most casual player would notice if quests only started rewarding 20 gold.  But with this system they can cut a reward or two out every season with little notice.  It's what MtGA has been doing with their reward system from the start.  Every season you get lower and lower rewards for the same amount of effort.

Blizz says now that you will get more rewards, but wait and watch as every time a new reward track / xpac comes out the rewards will be lowered.  Its the same tack the MtGA devs took.  They have repeated lowered the rewards every season even though every season they say the rewards won't change.  Game isn't focused on recruiting or retaining the free-to-play player anymore, it's shifted into the "milk the whales for everything they got" mode and the other players can go frell themselves

cheaper packs -> people play more different decks -> more fun -> more player satisfaction/retention.

This can all be done with some price drops that wouldn't hurt them but would make people love them. But that's not how capitalism works unfortunately.

Sadly most businesses forget or ignore the fact that you can't get any money out of people who don't use your product.  They focus more on wringing every cent out of the super devoted customer instead of trying to get more customers who might spend a little less overall individually .  Lots of businesses think having 5 devoted customers spend 100 bucks each is better than 50 customers spending 10 bucks each.  HS unfortunately got to the point it seems were they no longer care about expanding the original game to new people and instead are just focused on getting as much money as they can out of the existing super devoted players, or adding stuff like Battlegrounds to try to attract a completely different audience, which will probably  work in the short term but long term is probably going to lead to a smaller and smaller playerbase for the actual game.

who cares. BG is the worst mode EVER.

    1.boring.

    2. stolen idea

    3. rng fested

    4. rewards suck...

    5.no thx.

This it should have been it's own game and not connected to Hearthstone.  Gotta wonder how bad Hearthstone was doing if Blizzard's best idea to bring back players was add an entirely different game to it.  I can just imagine the conversation.  1st Exec: "Hey the HS playerbase is dwindling fast cause our stupid ideas are driving players away left and right.  Instead of fixing HS, let's add a completely different game to it, so our 2 small playerbases look like 1 decent sized playerbase."  2nd Exec:  "Brilliant"

posted a message on New reward system replacing gold

Agreed, if you have a look to the comments they say that it will not replace Gold.

It won't replace gold yet.  Just wait.  MtG Arena added a battle pass about a year ago and  it had nice rewards the first season but the rewards have consistently become less and less with each successive one to the point where now not even a year later and the rewards are about a 1/4 of what they were in the beginning and don't reward you enough gems to pay for the next one.  The Battlepass will be a good deal to begin with but the rewards will be nerfed over time so that the best you can do is break even and anyone who doesn't play / manage their time optimally will end up at a loss and the only way for 99.9% of the game to pay for it will be to give Blizz real money.  The game is done for, now it's on to the "milk em dry" phase before they phase HS out and only thing left will be p2p Battleground where the randomness will assure you can't play for free.

Sad, they care more about Battlegrounds than Ladder.

They care more about Battlegrounds than they do about HS itself,  why Battlegrounds wasn't a separate game still boggles my mind.

Seems like Blizz and WotC are in a battle to see who can alienate their playerbase/kill their game the most/fastest.
