posted a message on What to do with excess coins? Suggestions?

I believe one of the biggest complaints that I have seen is in regards to excess coins for maxed mercs.

I haven't seen any suggestions on how to fix the excess coin issue, or perhaps I have not yet read any suggestions.

This is my thought on how to fix the issue of excess coins.

Create an option to purchase treasures for your merc team in pvp that uses coins to obtain the treasures for that fight. I don't often play pvp in mercenaries because I like to have some fun with my builds and that just isn't viable in pvp at the moment but throw in a treasure or two for orcs and my fun might increase and my interest in playing the pvp mode will increase. I will also be more interested in grinding out bounties to earn more coins.

Just an idea that maybe ya'll can add on to with your ideas or suggestions on how to utilized all of our excess coins into something that we all can look forward to using to increase our enjoyment of the game mode.

posted a message on Mercanaries Task Discussion/Guide Thread

I know I replied earlier in the thread regarding diamonds and said I spent a lot of gold/money but I didn't really specify a quantity of either and while that won't change your odds of a diamond portrait but it might paint a better picture of the cost.

I havent kept a total count of how much I have spent but I know that in dollars I have spent over $750 and I think i might be a lot higher since the release but like I said I never really paid attention and as for in game gold for packs easily over 3k.

What I noticed that really irked me was that I wouldn't get a diamond portrait before all the other portraits were first collected unless I bought a portrait pack and only then maybe on a chance would I get that elusive diamond portrait.

The disappointing thing for me is that the people who are still putting time into this mode are most likely collectors who want those shiny diamond portraits like us yet there really isn't a proverbial carrot to keep us trying.  Every new merc they add just dilutes the portrait pool which decreases the odds of getting a diamond from an earlier merc.

Instead they increased the difficulty of bosses and pvp fights, put heroic requirements on gear levels and still kept that stupid potato in the game and of course we can't forget that they know are willing to sell us a whole variety of things that won't help with any of the aforementioned changes other than an auto battler to level up our mercs after 3 days.

Sorry if I went a bit off tangent in regards to your post but the reality is, if you want a diamond portrait you are going to have to spend a ridiculous amount of in game gold or out of pocket cash and that is a shame.

Diamonds portraits are unacceptably low imo

I have 15 diamond portraits and 11 or12 of them came from standard packs (I can't recall if I opened diablo or if it was part of the preorder). I have no idea how many packs I have opened but I am sure that I spent quite a bit of gold and money in the process.

posted a message on Mysterious stranger nerf was a bad financial idea.

I think that nerfing the mysterious stranger encounter was a missed opportunity for Blizzard.

I have spent a fair bit of money on the game mode and have all the mercs available to date.  I imagine that I am in the lower percentile of mercenary players paying for coins vs free to play players. meaning I am spending money vs those who are not.  As someone who has spent a fair bit of money on this mode I have obtained all mercenaries available. I have tons of skins as well. What I don't have is mercs who are task level 7 or higher.

I spend alot of money on this mode but I am not your target audience. There are way more people who might be willing to spend 10 or 20 bucks on merc packs if they knew they could fully level their team up.

I don't think most players mind having to grind out levels to obtain coins for their mers but having to always see the hot tato or sabotage over and over because of bad luck is pretty uninspiring for the average person to  decide to spend X amount of dollars on a game.

Increase mysterious stranger encounters in blackrock by 65%  and decrease the potato encounter by 50% across all areas. Maybe then more people might spend some money. Just my 2 cents.

posted a message on The Gold Cost

If you are playing all modes then you should be generating gold to use correct? That gold doesn't cost anything also correct?. What we choose to do with said free to us gold is entirely up to us correct?

The company in question is in business to make money grow and to pay its employees so they can make new content for people to enjoy correct?

The company in question provides an opportunity for those who do not have money or the ability to provide money to them to continue enjoying their game via game play based rewards.

You asked what do you guys think? I think this is a fun mode and I disagree with ever single thing you have stated.

posted a message on Given your preferred gameplay at what MMR does the fun stop for you?

I don't know if there is another way but I just know what rank I currently am at and typically have played at over the past year and use that as my baseline. I have never reached 8k mmr but have spent a fair bit of time between 6500 and 7500 mmr. I found that I had the most fun playing at the 5500-6000 mmr ranking compared to the 6001 and up rankings.

posted a message on Given your preferred gameplay at what MMR does the fun stop for you?

For me I have noticed that my ideal MMR range is 5500-6000 MMR. I enjoy pushing up the tiers and trying for fun late game builds and once I hit 6k ot above the gameplay I enjoy drastically changes and becomes less fun.

What MMR does the game become unfun for you?

posted a message on Is Xyrella the best hero now?

I have not experienced a hero with a better win rate than her. I have over 1100 hours of play time with my top 5 heros all having over 100 wins and 2 having over 200 wins, all of the top five are over 50% win rates.  None of them have ever had the success and fun rate that Xyrelle has had for me. I really don't pay attention to actual wins/losses but I have never finished lower than 2nd with her and I am pretty sure its 10 games with her. I don't play her without murlocs as a tribe perhaps that is relevant but I think she may be the most fun and best hero.   What are your thoughts/experiences?

posted a message on How can blizzard make quilboars balanced in the current meta share your thoughts below

Upon release everyone was playing quilboars, now that the nerfs have hit we are back to the usual gameplay and minimal quilboar builds, at least that has been my experience.

posted a message on Strange difficulty spike

I have noticed that lately it is a lot more likely to get smoked by a better build in the mid game. I don't think it has any relevance to mmr though. I think there are more and more people interested in the game mode and are watching streamers at higher ranks to improve their strategies and game play plus those of us who have been playing since the start and have gotten a better handle on how to properly build a winning warband.

As for your choice to drop down to a significantly lower mmr to be successful, imo that is always going to show positive results because of your experience compared to those at those ranks.  The following is just just my 2 cents.

I think the first question any of us should ask is just how important is increasing our rating to us. If you are playing purely to have a ton of fun and go for crazy late game builds on a consistent basis then playing at a lower rating level will probably be the most ideal route. If you want to have fun and maybe take a few shots at awesome late game builds then I would just play however and let the chips fall where they may.  If you want to climb to the higher ranks then I would suggest watching streamers and pay attention to what they buy, any reasons they provide is always useful and when they rank up with that specific hero and match up since every game varies alot in the early and mid game, knowing when to focus on the build vs when to push a level has always been my struggle and watching them gives me a bit of insight on when to do which.

I fluctuate between 5400-6300 and play about 15-20 games a day. 181 first place and 800 top 4 in 510 hours of play so I am definitely on the lower end of average for performance. That said I generally have fun and don't mind quitting a game early when my build just sucks and doesn't give me any pretense of hope.

posted a message on Should Blizz rework Murlocs or are they Ok?

I agree with the sentiment that moving Brann to T6 would be a good start but I would like to see Primalfin Lookout moved to T4 and Toxfin moved to T5 at the same time.  Moving Primalfin down and Toxfin up would provide enough boost to keep murlocs competitive in the midgame and since Bagurgle and Toxfin are on T5 you won't be able to abuse the discover feature of the Primalfin too early plus without having an early Brann would keep it balanced.

I like the idea of having to decide on if I want to sell a buffed golden murloc or trying to keep it around until I can hit T6. It also makes deciding on hunting for Brann or a Megasaur a more difficult choice. I watch alot of streamers consistently skip the Toxfin simply because they can wait for a Brann then triple into megasaur spike.

I am a big fan of playing murlocs anytime they are available so I would prefer to see Brann stay at 5 and see Primalfin moved to 4 just because it would be even more broken and fun for me to play but that is a dream and nothing more.

posted a message on Monstrous Macaw is 1000 times worse than Mackarel

I found no struggle at all using divine shield poison murlocs so far all three times I have faced that build with them it has been an easy win.  Windfury is a big help after getting the shield and poison.
