The main reason I have kept playing the game since late beta is that RNG allows games to be fundamentally different even when you are up against the same decks.
On that front I am a huge fan of the burgle mechanic, which is far from broken and require a decent level of skill to work out how to use cards together when it is not normally possible
Given the gang leaders appear to be the ones who got devolved, was it too much to hope that they would pick actual murlocs for the correct cost? (i.e. Don Han'cho --> Corrupted seer, Aya --> Finja, Kazakus -->, well, there's lots of 3 mana murlocs)
Problem I have with this card is that it needs two Jade Golems previously summoned to be on a same level as SI7 Agent (basically a reverse version of it, 2 damage, combo: summon 3/3), so for balanced value you need to play 2 Jade Golem cards first, but you want to use it as early game removal, si it will most likely be just 1/1 or 2/2 that requires combo, and at that point, why dont you simply play SI7 Agent?
What this misses is that even if it is just a 1/1, it is also +1/+1 to all later golems. I think we would have to accept that the first golem made in a game is going to be bad value, but a necessary step for crazy value later on
I play rogue by far the most and I am actually not. Sure it would fill holes in the class but from a game design point of view classes should have holes. I am much more annoyed that some classes seem to be able to do everything than that some can't.
I think the jade lotus theme is mana manipulation, shaman has far sight, druid has ramp stuff, kun, and the new 5 mana spell, and rogue has coins and prep
Wow dude I think you got it! I could never come up with what those 3 classes have in common as "burst" is quite generic and not really class defining (lots of classes have -or had in the past- burst dmg) Props to u
If overload isn't mana manipulation then i don't know what is
I remember many people saying Xaril is terrible because of their status as well and for me it was one of the most well-Design legendary card ever.
You guys only want see broken cards,so sad.
aye to this. for a long time i have felt rogue as a whole is the best designed class because it isn't broken or 'unplayable' (whatever people actually mean by that), it has strengths and weaknesses, and it has thematic identities.
Shakru, like Xaril before it, fits all of these nicely.
Swashburglar a 1mana 1-1 that add a random card to your hand"from your opponent's class" is better then this & you can react in the same turn to your board
Right. Correct though you may be, the two cards are in no way competing.
Better comparisons are 3-mana card draw minions, and it actually compares pretty well there. You can decide for yourself how good that actually makes it but at least make a sensible comparison
You are right. And direct comparisons are difficult.
Sadly it is often not enough just to be 'good' in competitive constructed but it should still do decent work for more casual players without being (really any) effort to make work.
Nonetheless, the flavour is amazing (he really is the thief in the shadows) and I can't wait to burgle even more stuff with him.
First off, I will announce a bias in that burgle rogue is the most fun deck out there imo.
With that said and accounted for, I don't see why there is quite so much disappointment around this card. I agree it doesn't look spectacular, but if you compare it to comparable existing cards (namely Mana Tide Totem and Acolyte of Pain, both of which see plenty of play) then it achieves the same minimum of drawing 1 card, gains an attack point or 2, and has stealth so that, unlike the others, you get to choose to interact with it the next turn, maybe by giving it stealth again.
Sure a burgle isn't usually valued quite as much as a simple 'draw a card', but given the plus points and Ethereal Peddler it looks to be a genuinely good card

The clothes and weapons need not change. I agree for finja the clothes are important but the corrupted seer just needs tentacles.
Anyway, none of this is to say the art isn't already awesome, there is just scope for being even cleverer with it too

At least they made an effort to make the mechanics functionally different to distinguish the classes.
Besides, thematically rogues really should be good at stealing...

So, I finally got around the 8-health issue with majordomo, and could no longer die.
i wanted to see how long paletress could fuel me before the massive minions eventually wore me down, but I guess I'll settle for a fatigue(?) win
