There have been so many decks with cards like this,it is almost not worth counting! And midrange hunters can easily win with KCs and Highmanes as well, it is not even that polarizing!
Please guys! Remember there are much faster decks than midrange hunter out there, and hunters tend to run out of cards, fast. At 9 or 10 mana, CotW would not be playable, at all. Yes, Highmane is good, but what would they do on turn 7-8-(9) with an almost empty hand? Die to aggro and suffocate vs control is what.
CotW is a close to perfect card in my opinion, and with a brutal nerf to face hunter, a strong midrange card that was waiting to be made was a great direction to take the class imo.
Running 2 6-drops and 2 8-drops is already pretty slow for midrange, and the deck can screw itself hard with bad draws!
Call of the Wild is arguably the one card that's carrying Hunter class at the moment, just look on ladder, every single hunter deck runs it - you'd be silly not to. That in itself marks the card as being problematic.
Why is that a problem? Every class has loads of cards like that! And... there are more agressive hunters out there that do not run cotw, especially in wild.
Hunters are far from unbeatable. 8 mana is pretty slow for hunters, and you need to be ahead on turn 8 for it to really shine. That is weakness enough IMO. Hunter is NOT a tempo-class due to the lack strong, sticky 1-drops.

In the latest big tournament, midrange hunter went 1-9... and I bet you CotW was a 2-of in every one of those.
Tournaments are not ladder, but the deck is not OP by any means!
