I am a new player, been playing the game for like 2 maybe 3 months. I do not spend money on the game, so i farm gold via questing. I already managed to buy the full LoE Adventures (all wings) with gold, working on getting BRM right now.
I already checked some decks on the site, with some free cards, but no matter what deck i use (zoo lock, face hunter, even with my mage wich has my best build base cards (is a C`Thun mage thou). Since previous season...i cant manage to past level 20 in ranked (standart).
Some guys saying with some basic decks they managed to get to rank 15 even 10...but i just cannot...and i watched Trump basic videos, i watch Legendary players videos of play to learn about basic stuff, favorable trading, when goind to face, etc... Of course i can make some mistakes...but trust me not always. Every single time i play ranked i am faced with 6, 7K worth of dust decks, full legendaries. So even if i get lucky and manage to get to rank 17 (my highest btw) then i drop all the way to 20 with those guys full of legendaries. I really like this game...but i seriously feel if i do not put money into the game to get more cards...i will be stuck only to level 20 ranked just to get my golden card and back card.
You can say...well you can get your dailies quest on Casual...well same thing there too...you my casually find a newbie like me...but that will be like 2/10 times...this game feels very very very very frustrating for new free players. You my say...deal with it...if you dont like it quit it...but the thing is i love the game...but there should be a better match making...or prevent some ranking to drop from a certain rank....for example players ranked 1 to 10 wont be able to drop further thank rank 10, this way ppl from rank 11 to 20 can play without the fear of being "farmed" for gold portraits dudes.
I am here to ask the community for help...i even get the innkeeper add on to help build better decks...but no avail.
I just want to get to rank 15 so i can get a rare card, so i can build my deck a bit faster...without the frustration to try to farm quests against legendary dudes.
Everyone got another strategy, I use this one on my US account with not so many cards (I got more on EU since it's my main account, but I also lack so many legendaries....)
--> Create a new Shaman deck and check the recommended "Totally Totems" option. I swapped the only Legendary (Mistcaller) in that list for 1 Bloodlust (which is a basic card) and I win most games when I climb from 20 to 15 with it.
It still got 10 Rare and 1 Epic card in the list, but you can substitute most of them for similar cards and add the missing ones later.
Another good and rather cheap option would be midrange hunter (without the imba cards Call of the Wild if you don't have them, an Aggro Shaman (much cheaper) or a Zoolock (there are many low budget builds for zoolock). Pirate Warriors are also quite cheap if you skip that one legendary in most lists.
If you don't have any other TCG experiences, 2 to 3 months is not enough to attain a very good level, it is normal don't worry.
But not being able to go higher than 17 is annoying. You should try this:
Don't go for a control deck (harder to play and expensive).
Try to farm for agro chaman, easy to play and very efficient at low ranks. At low ranks, people play very greedy and simple agro decks works great where control deck are not that useful.
Zoo is another cheap option, but harder to play well (so many people that tap after playing...).
Just one mistake that you make... The legendaries do not makes great decks look at zoo and chaman again.
You can easily get to rank 10-15 range with ~1k dust and adventures (at least wing 1 brm, but loe3 is nice tohave also) with mid-range hunter (1k dust gets you 2x cotw and 2xhighmane, brm 1 is for quickshot, loe 3 for huge toad)
You shouldn't put too much focus on the ladder. You are making enough gold to but the adventure wings add a reasonable good pace, so you are clearly capable of winning games. Just have fun with it. But it is a good idea to work towards getting some particular deck. Start of with cheaper decks like hunter or warlock, and then you can branch out to heavier decks once you have gotten some good resources
Yeah i never tried shaman (besides some few quests) i will give it a go.
About Hunter...this is one of the reason i am playing BMR adventure. So then i can get quickshot from there. Highmane thou...mabye i should disenchant a legendary to get the dust so i can craft some good rares. My goal is just to get to rank 15 so i can get a rare from the chest.
But the real problem are the gold portrait farmers...there are a lot of them that makes harder for budget decks to pass trough them. Even with good playing...is not possible to beat guys with legendary decks. Maybe make gold portraits buyable from store...so ppl really into it...can buy it...and not bother ppl trying to actually enjoy the game.
Yeah i never tried shaman (besides some few quests) i will give it a go. Tyvm for your response and tips.
If you are playing aggro shaman, go to Tempostorm's snapshot. While playing your game keep the snapshot opened. Most important part of the snapshot is the "Mulligans" window and its 9 hero buttons. If you are facing druid, click on the druid icon. You will see what kind of cards that you will need to mulligan for. Also, be familiar with tier 1 to 2 decks at that sight. A time will come you will be familiar with what kind of deck each heroes will play. For instance, you will know you need to beat hunter by turn 8. Idea on shaman deck is simple. Try to win the game by turn 6 than you won't have to worry about opponent's legend cards.

Tyvm i am reading it right now. Still...i am 6 rares and 2 epics away from a competitive agro shaman according to Tempostorm...sight.
No, if a guy is at rank 15 or lower (even with legendary decks), he is either a player that don't play often or a player that you can beat with almost any cheap solid deck IF you play well.
You can get to legend with really cheap deck AND great knowledge of the meta. In fact the most important part is the knowledge as a lot of stream player ladder with fun decks like Echo giant, Mill rogues, other improbable decks (Nevil's, Savjs, ThijsNL...). They know perfectly what can happen and have almost perfect decision making.
It is important to know that the reason of why you can't rank up is not only your collection but you relatively lower knowledge of the game considering that you are a new player. It is normal to make mistake at this stage but it is also important to know that you make some to be able to improve yourself. ;)
I can try to spectate a few of your games / try to make something work out of your cards if you're interested. Obviously can't guarantee anything, but happy to try and help. Just think that Rank 15 should be quite achievable.
Which region are you playing on? And are you comfortable with using voice communication (just makes things much easier)?

Yes, that would help out a lot actually. I will pm you with the details if it is ok.
If you want a deck that is rather inexpensive dust wise and plays rather straightforward you should try mid hunter. Easy to rank with, does very well vs current and last meta. Costs about 2k dust to make the basic one. Tempo mage and zoolock are also good budget decks. Something tells me though that there are subtle nuances to your game that hold you back from ranking higher. You can add me if you like, NA battletag#1435 and I can watch some of your matches, and give pointers. For the record, most decks do not require tons of legendaries to make them work. There are usually common/otherwise cards that have similar effects.

Ok i want to really really really ty you man for your help. Your guidance from spectator mode and with ventrilo was really really amazing!!!
Is amazing what you can do with a budget deck in the hands of a skilled player. (The only bad part is, that now i know i make lot of mistakes in my play. But knowing that now...i will only try to learn more, thinking plays ahead, and playing smart with what i got).
This game seems very easy on papers...but really is very deep in terms of strategy. It requires knowing all the cards and and what heros can do.
I am miles away from becaming a "decent" player, Now i understand, that there are a heck of a lot of ppl that are very skilled in this game, and deserves their ranks.
But right now, i just want to thanks Konf...is proven me that there is still decent and helpfull players out there, that gave away their precious time in order to help other fellow "noob" players.
Thanks again man...and thanks this community too and this site to help us noobs out.

Don't feel bad. It took me 6 months to get beyond 18. It takes time to grind out the rares and epics to make really nice decks.
Yeah, absolutely :)
Looking forward to it.
