I have recently seen a german interview with Lifecoach, which was recorded before Blizz made the patron nerf official. There was a specific question, which deck would be the best against patron and Lifecoach didnt answer that. In fact he said, it doesnt matter, because he thinks/suggests/heard rumors that patron will be nerfed soon™.
So, do you think the blizzcon players already knew theres something coming. Or were they even involved in the nerfing process?
At least Forsen knew, he talked about this nerf as the best solution like 2 months ago...i guess all Pro knew... Look at the American World Championship, like 0 Patrons played.
Cancer cured !
I don't think the entire pro community can know about this nerf AND not leak it out to the public. NO ONE in the public suspected that this was coming. Also everyone had their own ideas on the nerf, and I've heard of the "warsong needs to be nerfed due to design problems" idea MANY months ago. Extra Credits flat out had several Hearthstone videos about power creep and design issues caused by certain cards. It's been on a lot of people's minds is all.
(unless we're going to claim that EC was given the information too and decided to give a video about it without mentioning it, but that's tin foil hat territory)
Also AM champs tend to be much less conventional than typical. Note that a TON of handlock was played. The idea was "Everyone is bringing Patron, so I'm going to counter them.. and not bring my own to #($#) with the countering folks." Similar to how all of EU went "Druid, Handlock, and Patron. And done."
deep inside, everyone know grim patron combo have to and will be nerfed. that combo is broken. it's just a matter when and how. it is doomed to be nerfed.
I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard told some pro-players the nerf with some form of NDA. Some pro-player, like Lifecoach, have to compete in Blizzcon, which requires plenty to preparation before the tournament. It's more problematic if they decided to announce the nerf right before a big tournament.

Here is the question (in german): https://youtu.be/jO09bycCrOI?t=29m47s
Possible they got an early heads up. They are playing in a major tournament that requires time to practice.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
Trump said he found out the day off by going to Reddit (the main page). So I'm not sure if they all knew before hand
