Actually, as a Mage player and someone who really understands how it works (at least from my perspective, since I was saying everything the pros are saying now a while ago)
Could you please get over yourself? I've been lurking here for only a short while now but when I read your posts, I mostly disagree and already remember you for that. You were the one who said Mages weren't OP when they went 8/8 in that Managrind tournament. Now you say the class is dead because some cards will cost more mana before even playing with those changes. I have no issues with your definitions of fun though I don't share them. But please respect that many people dislike denial cards like freeze here or counters in Magic. They sure have their place in these games and I can imagine your devilish grin when you use them. The issue is the sheer amount of freeze. If it wasn't freeze every unit every turn for 6 times, people wouldn't complain so much.
1- Just hit the 'ignore' button, if you don't like my posts. Like I'm going to do with you right now. It's that simple.
2- The class is NOT dead. The way we play it (Freeze with or without giants, and current Aggro) IS kinda dead, much will have to be changed. That's what I meant with "the end of Mage AS WE KNOW IT".
3- The amount of freeze is not what should've been addressed, and even then, most people agree that nerfing all 3 cards like that is overkill. Hey, don't take that from me, just read the pros insights on TL.
4- Respect that just because people think they're "unfun", Blizzard needs to nerf them so they become near unplayable, instead of actually nerfing what's strong (Ice Block anyone)? No, I cannot respect the fact that I have to adapt because casuals don't want to, and thanks to Blizz they don't have to.
5- I don't know what your quote proves, but anyway... That was a joke. I'm not a pro and I know it. Though I do happen to understand a bit of the game overall.
Higher manacost was definately the wrong way to balance freeze. Non-mages will love these, but still... 4 mana for CoC, wtf? 3 mana for a spell that doesnt do any damage as well? That nerf probably killed these spells. Maybe Im wrong, but 4 mana for a spell, that damages 3 creatures for one? Additionally you cant play anything yourself, if you have to use it on turn 5. I think the only freeze card, that will be used is Blizzard post-patch, but time will tell.
6 mana on Blizzard fucks the whole play. Ppl who dont play mage will still complain, but mages will know how sick that nerf is. There is no real good play on turn 5 now. Turn 6 is dominated by Argent Commander and you cant Blizz+ping anymore on turn 7. Wild Pyromancer / You no take candle + Arcane Explosion getting a sad comeback again.
Usually I dont whine about patches, but wow, these changes are sick. I played Gnimsh´s style with heavy buffed minions, which was really fun to play. Now Im kinda driven into Frost Giant play I think
I'm really pissed off. Blizzard could have balanced mage, without completely destroying the mage control style. All they had to do was, make Pyroblast cost 10 mana up from 8, and make fireball do 5 damage down from 6. That would have balanced it. instead, nobody is happy. Mage players freeze style of playing is no longer a viable way of playing. People who were complaining about Pyroblast, are still complaining because it's as strong as ever. Now you'll see a surge in the amount of people playing aggressive mage with pyroblast, and then people will complain so blizzard will nerf mage again. And then mage will have no viable way of playing.
Personally, i don't think they killed Bliizard (never used Nova and Cone is truly dead :/), i'm playing mage aggro and i'm using 2 for my only aoe/freeze. Imo Pyroblast/Fireball are too strong, but i don't think making taunts affect spells or some crazy stuff like that is the right way to balance that, fireball should just do 5 dmg and pyroblast should cost 9 or 10. In this way they wouldn't "kill" these spells, but they could give the other classes more time to kill the mage, until he gets his lethal burst out.

Since there different threads about this topic right now, I´ll quote myself from another one and continue the discussion here:
