These two different types of mentalities have always been present in the Hearthstone community, but this is not a thread to make fun of one in particular. Hope that is 100% clear for most of you.
"I want this game to be balanced!":This is the kind of people who treat video games as challanges for fun. Most of them are known here for being "Saltboys" or "Blizzard haters". Not all of them despise netdecking, but they aren't either proud of laddering with decks made by others, so they usually make some card changes here and there. They feel better with themselves if they defeat others in a "fair" enviroment, because that means they outsmarted their opponents some way.
"I want to win at all cost!":This is the kind of people who treat video games as a way to show others they are better than them, and believe me, most of the time they get away with it. Most of them are known here for being "Fanboys" or "Blizzard shills". They love netdecking, especially tier 1 decks, but the fact they play aggro decks most of the time (or broken as f..k combo ones) is not because they have a lower IQ than others (as some love to imply here all the time), it is only because those type of decks are usually at the top of the food chain (usually thanks to Blizzard decisions). They feel better with themselves when they crush their opponents (doesn't matter if the enviroment is fair or not), because that means they outsmarted their opponents some way.
At this point, you would be asking yourself: Did OP (Sherman1986) just really mentioned both groups of people like to outsmart their opponents some way or is there a typo somewhere?". And no, there is no typo. Both of them feel the same, it's only their methods and objectives are "a bit" different. So yeah, you people are not as different to others here as you tend to think.
Having said all that, we all know what kind of group our beloved people working at Blizzard have been targeting most of the time with their politics and business decisions. Yeah, they have feed the "I want to win at all cost!" mentality for too long, but I believe such a thing is going to change in the future. Not today, not tomorrow, but some day the balance will turn out in our favor (those who want this game to be much more balanced, and of course, pun 100% intended). If they make this game more and more expensive and start leaving casuals slowly apart, the game experience for many of us will improve a lot, but only time will tell if Blizzard truly wants to take Hearthstone in that direction (trying to add the battle pass system into the game should be a hint, but truth is no one really knows yet, except Blizzard).
Feel free to show everyone what kind of group you belong to and how do you feel about all this.
Game Balance has nothing to do with Net decking, and also importantly, may not even have anything to do with outplaying the opponent.
In a state of perfect balance, the idea of outplaying your opponent is really hard. Outplaying the opponent means you played in a manner in which you took advantage of the mistakes the opponent made and used them to win. Outplaying tends to mostly be applied to weak matchups.
Not everyone that wants the game to be balanced actually wants true "Balance", they simply want to tip the scales in favor of whatever they like to play. Or in other words, they don't actually want it balanced.
If anyone wants the game to be truly balanced, they would be asking Blizzard to remove all Random effects from the game, and to balance all playstyles in a manner in which if the players play matchups perfectly, a strict Rock-Paper-Scissors model is enforced and guaranteed.
Other than that, you don't really have balance. Asking for more Tech Cards concentrates power in Control, creating imbalance. Asking to destroy certain strategies, like OTK decks, creates imbalance, curiously, concentrating power in Control.
I sure would love the game to be truly balanced.
Dude, just read the opening post again. Take your time this time and don't do it on a rush.
I have nothing against aggro, or control, high-roll or whatever...I just generally hate decks that generate insane value even if you play them in a completely dumb way...or they are in fact, impossible to play in a bad way - auto-pilot decks. Jade Druid was probably the historic worst offender of this. Big/Res Priest is horrible in this respect. There are always some decks in the game that lean in this direction and they never fail to annoy the tits off me.
I don't think this is a proper division. I think you can find better representation of reality if you take the "Timmy, Johnny and Spike" division into consideration.
Dude, that shit is so outdated, c'mon... What's next? Using the Myers-Briggs Personality Test as a reliable source to categorize people all around the world?
Edit: Also, I'm a mix of the three types of player. When I feel like competing in the game, I'm Spike, but a large portion of the time, I'm a mix of Timmy and Johnny.
And yeah, this is exactly one of the reasons why it is outdated and totally unreliable! ;)

No, it's still the case. The model always accounted for mix between player types.
Yeah, I know, dude, but that is such a low move to make. Also, it's so nerdy, c'mon, you know it!
Not trying to offend anyone, seriously, but it is not reliable at all.
I honestly have no idea what you mean with it's such at low move to make. Also don't know why it's nerdy, I think what is described is really accurate.
Are you seriously asking me why a Magic: the Gathering article about deck types and personalities is nerdy stuff? Doesn't matter if you think it is accurate or not, it's just an old theory for fun. Also, at the end of the day, everyone is a Timmy/Johnny/Spike player, regardless of what the article say and what they want make you believe.
I'm part of the group that thinks you post too many useless threads.
agree this guy make like 100 post per week where 95% of them is just useless post just to get +1 for hes post count
Agree completely, I haven't seen a post that this guy hasn't created/commented on.
What can I say? I always love to have the last word in every debate! :P
I can see that - you certainly post a lot of nonsense (i.e. this post).
"Nonsense"? Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.
Stay on topic.
allrdy 3 have said it in this post so not only hes opinions... its like 50% of the forum who thing you only he for your post count and posting lots of useless post

Yeah, we have seen too many auto-pilot decks already. Let's hope in the future, they will be nothing than just a bad memory from the past. :)

If you have a personal problem with my persona (which is pretty obvious), send me a PM, people. Stop derailing this thread with your random off-topic opinions about me.
It's quite ironic to see that many people claiming that someone posts too much useless stuff, while adding nothing to the topic themselves.
Personally, my preferences change depending on the mood. When I just want to get the rewards, I take the best tools available and go. Otherwise I take what's most fun for me to play; the victory is then secondary to me - the primary preference is being entertained. The first preference doesn't require balancing, the second does.

Thank you so much for your constructive post! Much appreciated! :)
Let’s face it, the game isn’t fun when every single person you run into plays the same paladin deck. There’s a reason I’ve never invested a dime into the game. Blizzard has never done a good job at balancing their games because a balanced game means no money. It’s just a joke
