what's the point of your question? it all depends on the cards he had. when you get legendary, some players, use decks that they aren't good at to practice coz they can't go down to legendary status anymore. or some don't care about getting to rank 1 legendary and just play fun and theory crafted decks.
just a testament to how much of a joke the "competitive scene" is in this game.
his play has nothing to do with anything you just said. hes playing c/p control warrior. coining turn 1 armorsmith against an empty board isnt EVER a good play and shouldnt take "practice" to realize that.
Just a testament how fking retarded you are. Coin Armor smith is great since you can buff it and Warroir cant do 4 damage on turn 2. Considering you said you faced a legendaryplayer that means you yourself arent legend already. Might have to do with you being fking dumb and think every play you dont understand is bad.
wow you're mad. im not legend because i just started playign ranked for this month 2 days ago. i rarely play as is. im currently rank 3 4 stars and the grind is real.
heres why you are an idiot btw. its control vs control. what you do turns like 1-4 are largely irrelevent to the outcome of the game. to waste a coin on a 1/4 that literally does nothing for you in a control game is ridiculous. to think its NOT a horrible play is silly.
I think you're overvaluing the coin in the matchup though. Especially in a control matchup where hand size sometimes becomes relevant.
how am i overvaluing the coin? are you telling me that turn 1 armor smith in mirror match is a good use for coin? you dont think there arnt much better things to coin into play a turn earlier? or hell even doing something like saving the coin til turn 10+ where you can sylvana + brawl.
Coin in armor smith turn one (or if the opponent hasn't played anything coin in the Unstable ghoul). Turn 2 put out whichever the first 2 you didnt play. turn 3 throw acolyte or shield block. turn 4 armor or shieldmasta or kor kron. turn 5 belcher, Turn 6 Cairne.
Mock First Move
Same as above... Just a turn later. You may play Axe first and clear board on turn 2. Then Acolyte turn 3. Then Ghoul and Armosmith turn 4. Then Belcher... and go from there
The key is maximizing your Mana. Do your best to NEVER waste it if you can"
Coining 2 drop is very common for Warrior because most good Warrior cards has even mana (Axe, Amour Smith, Task Master, Slam, Cleave, KorKon, etc.). By using the coin T1, you can follow up with other cards easily. Ideally you should save the coin for mid-Legendaries but if your hand is full of low drop I don't see why not using it for mana efficiency.
Correct me if I'm wrong. So OP is essentially saying " OMG how can that freaking noob get Legend while a good player like myself get stuck here at rank 3 forever?". Otherwise I fail to see the point of this thread.

So OP is a nub and needs to stop acting like he knows what he is talking about.
its sad because you read something and dont even understand it. lets say... i have the "perfect" setup hand for this. armorsmith, taskmaster, acolyte, weapon with coin. even with that, going turn 2 taskmaster on armorsmith doesnt do ANYTHING in the mirror match. you're not worried if control warrior is trying to "beat you down" early even if you didnt have a weapon in your hand to blow them out.
just to prove how uneducated you are on this subject(this diction shouldnt count as flaming no?). if you're gonna "maximize your mana every turn", your opponent is at 8 with nothing on the board and you have 9 mana, should you play rag or play ysera? i mean if you play rag you're not "maximizing your mana" right? if this dude wrote that its beneficial to kill yourself, would you blindly listen to that too?

how am i stuck in rank 3? i havnt fallen out of a rank since i started playing this season, and if i grinded im quite positive i'd make legend, simply because i've done it in prior seasons.
the point of this thread is that the player base is a joke, but yet people think this game is so srs. there really needs to be a different way than a month long ladder to differentiate skill, because the ladder obviously favors people who grind more.
i guess another reason for this thread is to expose outstanding players like smokingbull.

So your proof for Hearthstone's player base being "a joke" is one Warrior making one misplay against you in one ladder match? Yes, people make isolated mistakes, but over the course of many games (i.e. adjusting for variance) you'll find that players from rank 5 and onwards play optimally almost all of the time; they have to, in order to make it that far.
PS. the few "misplays" that high ranked players do make actually aren't misplays at all, but rather just questionable plays (calculated risks) that end up not paying off in hindsight. For something to qualify as a misplay, it has to be something serious like trying to coin out mountain giant, armoring up before using your weapon to kill a minion, or, as you brought up, coining out an armosmith against a control warrior.
Every Warrior I've faced last 2 days has made this move, when on coin. It seems standard. Waste of a thread tbh.
The way I see it, is they do this play because weaker players will panic and do everything they can to kill that one armorsmith [chances are they will have 2] - they envision the Warrior's shield flying up to ridiculous numbers, [for example they may throw an unstable ghoul beside it, then their acolyte or other small minions and let their shield fly up, and draws] and feel they must kill it. Blowing cards they might need later on. Like silences, or running low cost minions into it - giving the warrior shield anyway!

This is what one of the top warriors wrote.

Hunters may also blow freezing traps on it.
