Hi people, I was wondering why there is not a system where you can give your opponents some kind of recognition. Medals, or something similar to that, could be used for showing your friends in Hearthstone your usual behaviour and the kind of player you are. There could be a lot of different kind of medals, and you could just give it to your opponents some of them at the end of each match (clicking something like a cancel button or at the side of screen is something very easy, so there shouldn't be a problem for those player that want to play their next match very fast and don't care about it).
Did you see those players that are misunderstood by some people (probably because they emoted a "well played" during the match and his opponent just took it as BM) but are truly very nice ones while playing this game? Well, you can give them a medal for trying to make Hearthstone a better enviroment for everyone (good sportsmanship medal). Did you see that guy or woman that is playing with a very creative deck at rank 5 - 1? You can also give this player one for that (a creative deck medal). That person that you think is very good at playing Hearthstone and made very good plays during the match?. Another one (very good player medal, or something like that).
But I can see some people thinking this is a bad idea because they believe everyone are jerks while playing this game... Well, I have some news for you, there is a lot of people that love this game and will probably be fair with those that deserve some kind of recognition for let them have a nice experience. This also could motivate more some players to try different kind of decks from time to time and not only playing with top tier ones.
To see your battle.net friends medals, maybe hovering your mouse over their user names in the chat list could show you a little box with the different ones and how much of each they have. They would be pure cosmetic of course, but who knows, for example, maybe giving you some special cardback for your nice behaviour after receiving a lot of good sportsmanship medals could something nice (maybe some people would think that some players could use them while BMing other during a match and that it would be "terrible", but c'mon, enjoy the game, those people probably would deserved that cardback and they could be just joking, or being sincere and not actually BMing, wich I'm pretty sure happens a lot).
So, what do you think? Is it a good idea, a bad one, or you don't care about it?. Do you have some good ideas for other different kind of medals?.
You have a good idea here.... just a pity you chose to comment the way you did on my thread kinda contradicts everything you are saying..... anyways glhf.

I appreciate you like the idea, but about the other thing, you are overreacting so much about everything dude, calm down and enjoy the game, and if you really hate others BMing so much, as has been suggested in your thread, just squeltch your opponents at the begining of each match.
One form of recognition could be a tip system: click a button next to your last opponent's name to tip them 5 gold. Naturally it should only work with random matchmaking and not challenges with friends.

this seems way better since showing how many medals someone has can only show you if you're in for a bad time or not
I feel like this would just be abused in most cases and your opponent would just rate you badly because of spite or what not.
However, I would gladly accept achievements in Hearthstone, much like they work in WoW, they could work in Hearthstone as well.
""Hmm, well played." Successfully kill your opponent after top decking savage roar to finish your combo." 10 points.
""The Supreme Archaeologist." Top deck Reno Jackson when your opponent has lethal on board." 10 points.
""Slow and steady wins the race!" Kill your opponent by him/her receiving fatal damage from fatigue." 15 points.
""Armed to the teeth!" Equip a weapon." 5 points.
Edit: This really got me going, because it's a feature I really want to see being introduced. So I was thinking some bigger achievements could grant cosmetic changes. An example would be something like, "cast X frost related spells as a mage" and you could gain "Icebolt" instead of the regular ping. Small stuff like that.
Another thread disguised as "oh noes, he said Thank You when he won. I'm so sad now".
Maybe you could have a medal league? And you can search for people with more than X medals so you can find new friends and share your medal interest.
Rofl, how can people be so butthurt over emote-BM.
These threads are the reason I BM ingame. So sensitive because you didn't get a "Well Played" but instead got a "Thank you".
rofl.
Wow dude, you seriously have a reading comprehension problem. I really don't care about BMing in Hearthstone (wich is a joke in comparison to other games), and never complained about it, I only care about those that act friendly during the game, wich is the opposite. Think a bit before posting please.
I hereby award Sherman the "This guy is a deranged psychopath" medal
Seriously though I think a way of rewarding good behaviour is a nice concept but not that realistic to implement, strangers will likely flag you for bad behaviour just because they lost and everybody's friends will just flag each other as an angel so after a week or so nobody will take any notice and assume everything is wrong anyway.
Sadly, I too think it's a very good but unrealistic idea.... This system can so easily be bypassed. Just need to be a fair player for some games and after you could turn into the worse jerk :/ If you add "bad medals" too, it will get even worse as, in the long run, everyone will be flag as BMer or bad player.... In the my little poney world, it could work but I doubt seriously in real world :'(

No guys, nothing about "bad medals", negative stuff wouldn't work, and I don't like it. Also, during friendly matches it really makes no sense to give medals to your opponents (since you can just use the chat to talk with your battle.net friends) and could be easily used in a "wrong" way by just giving your friends a lot of modals just because, so no medals there.

Mmmm... It looks like an interesting idea, although I really don't know if very weird things could start to happen thanks to that.
Another spin on the subject, insead of rewarding medals Blizzard could reward players a card from the reward set. New cards specifically made for this & not ETC etc.
1000 likes for your deckbuilding skill & gain X card, 1000 likes for your manners & gain Y card & so on.
That is also a nice idea, and could work. It would also probably encourage a lot some people to act more friendly (and so, there wouldn't be so much people crying like babies in this forum about BMing) and try different kind of decks. I like it.
However, I would gladly accept achievements in Hearthstone, much like they work in WoW, they could work in Hearthstone as well.

Yeah, I would like more achievements in Hearthstone, and it is something that could be easily implemented.

Medals for good behavior?
WTF
What is good behavior? Greetings and Well Played?

I don't think any system like this works. League of Legends has a badge system that does not give any kind of reward and as a result nobody uses it.
And any kind of system that gives you some advantage will most like end up in players rewarding each other every time.

Give me an annual hearthpwn awards ceremony or give me death!
On topic, this is a nice idea. Not sure it is needed though.
I returned to this game much like how a recovering alcoholic can relapse.
