What's up everybody? I just started playing Hearthstone last week and I'm enjoying the game so far. I was just posting this to introduce myself and see what everyones best advice is for new players. I'm not looking to put a ton of money into the game but I'll probably buy a couple of the adventures. I've got almost all the heroes up to level 10 and stashed enough gold for 3 free arena runs. Thanks in advance for any tips!
Buy Naxx and GvG... Jk, don't buy any of those, buy LoE, some TGT packs and a couple wings from BRM. Then wait for the new expansion next month. Welcome!
Don't buy anything with real world money for about a month they are doing a new format change where some of the cards are being banned. If you want to buy packs or adventires with gold only buy classic and the grand tournament for packs and blackrock and league of explorers for adventures.
There are a lot of relevant cards in the League of Explorers adventure, and you definitatley get the biggest bang for your real world dollar on the adventures. Find a style of deck, or hero that you really like and play it a lot to help learn the game and the ins and outs of the other decks that people are playing. Zoo decks are great for this.

Also another question. Would I be better suited buying Classic packs over TGT packs?
Yes, Classic packs always! Only once you really have everything you need you start with others, I play for almost 4 months now and still haven't bought single pack other than Classic
Okay excellent. So you'r saying forget arena for now, do daily quests and spend my gold on classic packs?

Correct. Once you get better and have enough cards to kick butt with then arena comes next.. right now focus on how to work with the heroes and cards to see what they can do. My favorites are Shaman, Priest and Druid :)
That would be the best for now yes, once you get into game a bit, learn some simple mechanics (even if you are TCG veteran give HS couple of days/weeks)... Then if you feel you are good, check out some videos on how to pick good cards in Arena and try it out. If it doesn't work doesn't work, but it isn't exactly easy at all, especially not for beginners.
Value wise it can be good if you have collection and care about dust/gold, but even if you do decent in arena (say 4 wins average - which is technically more profitable than to buy packs with gold) I wouldn't do it cos you can't choose which pack Arena will give you, it's random, so you might get TGT or GvG pack, and you want only Classic for now.
So only once you learn the game well, and feel that you are good at it try Arena, but even then, count if it's worth cos you can't choose Classic.
But yeah, I advise that (I still do only that, bought adventures with real money, 0 packs with real money, just with gold Classic). In no time you'll be able to make some viable deck, however to experiment and to use different top tier decks, you'll either need more time, couple of months or real money to buy packs too.
Welcome to the game of HS man! Best advice I can give is don't turn in the 40g quests unless you have no room and are about to get a new one. Mulligan it and try to get the 50gold + quests. Also, for awhile I would play Arena with that gold instead of buy packs because it gives you experience with deck building and you are guaranteed to always get a pack out of it while still playing and having fun since it's all random.

Thanks, how do you not turn in quests? I thought it just automatically gave you the gold once you completed it.
Before you start the quest or get it turned in, if you go to the quest pane, there will be a red X in the upper corner of the quest. You can mulligan a quest once a day for a chance at better options.

Thanks I figured that did something but I didn't want to delete my free gold on accident haha.
I was afraid of that when I first started playing back in Beta. But I was pleased when I got a spectate quest that I couldn't complete because no one I knew played in beta, that when I hit the X button it cycled into a 60g quest.

Yeah I was actually thinking with the format changing to standard it might be a great time to be a new player.

Sent from my shuttle to mars...where is my shirt?
I've been enjoying playing Mage and Rogue the little bit that I have played so far. And since I'm a super n00b what is a Zoo deck?
