I took some time to think about another Expansion, and I thought I would really like to see a Burning Crusade themed expansion, since Blizzard seems to be going through older WoW Content for Hearthstone updates :) I thought the name Adventures of Outland might fit, nothing special but at least you know what you're getting into if you're an old WoW veteran.
I structured the expansion to have roughly 100 cards, and I came out with 97, so that's something I guess. I divided those into pools of 8 - 12 cards based on the Outland zones, then the Draenei and the Blood Elfs. I also wanted to add one class legendary each, and finally decided to go to Karazhan for advice, since I always loved this raid and it is tied into Burning Crusade very much. Below you can see the cards for each "theme": Draenei, Blood Elfs, Hellfire Peninsula, Zangar Marsh, Terokkar Forest, Nagrand, Blades Edges, Netherstorm, Shadow Moon Valley and Karazhan Class Cards.
I also added two new card effects aka taunt: - Flying: Makes sense, since Flying mounts came with Burning Crusade - a flying card will ignore taunt, it's basically a counter for taunt. - First Strike: This effect is like a combo effect, only that it can only become activated if it is the first ACTION you take upon your turn (so don't attack, don't play a card or a coin and you will get the benefit. Hopefully you can have some nice playing around with that).
It was quite hard to find good artwork for the Zangar Marsh creatures. I took art mostly from the WoW TCG and official artwork, as well as some quick google searches.
Have fun and let me know what you think! Of course, balancing is nothing final - I wanted to explore ideas and create a complete set of expansion cards, real testing should be done by the balance experts.
In the middle of reading these. Really interesting ideas, but just want ot point out that Thrallmar Grunt seems terrible in almost every situation. I like Honor Hold Guard and it would be cool if Thrallmar Grunt was the same but for attack instead of health. (make him a 4/2 with same text)
That is a very good point, thank you - now that you say it, I realize that it would only be "as good" as the normal naked 3/2 in the best case. Making it a 4/2 sounds reasonable, although it would be much easier to maintain the buff for priests for example - but then again, it could be a nice small arena card for priests.
I thought of making Silvermoon Defender a non-taunt and instead have him read "Cancels out additional spelldamage of the opponent" - that would be more in line with the whole Blood Elf magic-focus and have it not just be a better Sen'jin
For Firefly, I agree also, maybe it should be a 3 mana card. Or remove charge and keep it at 2.
