"Dispel" part of silence tends to confuse people. Cause intuition says "Silence = clear minion's abilities". So I think it'd be better to just split current Silence on 2 parts: Silence and Dispel. So old cards (like the Owl) will either have both of the abilities, or will keep only 1 (like mass Dispel should, I suppose) and get rebalanced a bit (like decrease mana cost or smth). That would actually make the game easier to understand.
I think any type of card mechanic that gets released should be standalone and unique. Dispel and Silence would be way too similar and having them both be together just makes sense. Silence pretty much reverts the creature to it's base stats. No buffs and no abilities and that's the way I think it should stay. Hearthstone doesn't have to be a complex game.
I dont see alot of people being confused about silence. I mean its a very simply mechanic, it removes all text on the card that is it. I thinking splitting it up in 2 makes it all the more confusing for new players. Also as a keyword they would be way to close and if anything add confusion.
It's confusing until you realize that all buffs are actually written down on cards. You can hover over a card and see it. That's why Faceless Manipulator copies your minion with every effect, and that's why clearing card text removes all buffs.
I agree. Found it confusing but I dont agree with the OP. If it was changed (I'm not sure if it needs to be) I'd prefer it just to always referred as dispel instead of silence.

I just dont see it being an issue.

"Silenced" means "The card no longer says anything", i.e. all text is removed. Seems pretty simple to me...
Yeah, but it also removes any buffs it received like Blessing of Kings or The Shattered Sun Cleric's battlecry.
Silence is extremely powerful in this game, but it's only because the cards that they are countering are even more powerful if left unchecked.
I agree and I think splitting an ability into two parts just makes it more confusing.
