I am sorry if this is the wrong place to put this.
Before any of you say that I am just whining, i will admit that I am pissed off so this may seem like a rant and I know pretty much everyone hates pyroblast and is tired of the card. I have no idea if Blizzard or whoever makes the nerfs reads these threads, but I am hoping somehow they see mine. I've just got done doing my 5th arena, I went 7-3 3 times and then 4-3 then 3-3. In all those arena's, each time I lost to mage twice, not from being outplayed, not from my opponent just having a better draw, but they do the same thing, its turn 7, I am outplaying my opponent, I've taken damage from my weapons and my opponent has almost no hope and is dead in 2-3 turns unless they do something. Then they just casually go Fireball frostbolt pyroblast and I have no words. This joke needs to end, it makes me not even want to play arena anymore because I never have an arena run where I don't run into a mage.
I've played magic for years, since i was a little kid. I've delt with the dumb stuff like Affinity, Faeries control dominating lorywyn block, when jace the mind sculptor was in the standard format, etc.. So yes I know what overpowered cards can be like, but this is just ridiculous. I've also watched plenty of streams who have been outplaying their opponents to the core and then their opponents go fireball, pyro your dead and some accept it and others get pretty pissed and I can't blame them.
All I want is either Pyroblast to be 8 dmg for 8 mana or 10 damage for 10 mana. If this is unreasonable I am willing to believe I am wrong and pryoblast is 100% fair. But also I think fireball should be 5 mana for 5 damage. Starfire is 5 damage for for 6 mana and you draw a card, which is perfectly fine, I don't see why fireball can't be 1 mana cheaper for the cost of not drawing a card, sometimes the mana makes the bigger difference. If Mind control can be 10 mana, then why is pyroblast still 8? Just being an epic is not an excuse for me honestly and also the fact that its mythic seems to mean nothing, every mage i have faced has had a pryoblast in their deck, 5 arena runs i have faced I believe 7- 8 mages, literally all with pyroblasts, I wish I had taken screen shots but I have reached my breaking point. Sorry for the long post and thank you.
The problem is, Pyroblast alone makes weapon strategies horrible and it makes classes like warrior have to play outside their design by having to use 2 mana to armor up every turn when your at 15 life, sometimes its just a lost cause. I understand that if there does come a nerf, it will be some time, I just really really want blizzard to address Pyroblast and Fireball and I hope they do. I love hearthstone, its an awesome game and well designed as well, but mage just makes my blood boil.
I hate...no loathe mages as much as you do in the post, but its really no different than what alot of minions can do in a single round. its not overpowered at all and Foo hit it right. you would break the class as it is now and the mages got nerfed with frost.
no one likes a pyro to the face, and the setup for it is usally the same but the warning is if your at 11health on round 10 vs any mage your dead
2mana ping followed by the 8mana haymaker pyro for winner winner chicken jana dinner
But are you really outplaying your opponent? If there entire deck is based around just eating damage then dealing a shit ton on turns 9/10... Like a freeze mage, i bet because you think he is at 15health and you are 30health and have 6 minions on the board, you are "outplaying him" which is not true at all.
If its turn 8, and the game currently looks like that, (from a freeze mage deck pov) I would win almost all of those games as long as draws are somewhat decent.
I honestly don't see how it would break the hero as a whole. 10 mana for a finisher sounds fine and 8 damage for 8 pretty much kills all non legendary creatures in the game if! you have to use it on a minion. 5 damage for 5 mana also still does a 6th of life and kills most 5-6 mana minions. Also when I'm at 30 and have 6 minions, my opponents have non and are at 15, how in the hell is that outplaying? when I was outplaying, I mean I am bating my opponent into bad trades, playing around their setups for certain spells or minions etc... But then all of the sudden, fireball into pyroblast and dead, so what your telling me is at 16 against a mage, I am supposed to just stop my game plan and just start healing??? I am sorry but I just don't know how that isn't dumb.
I haven't been playing hearthstone all that long and only have 1200 gold and change from arena runs and so maybe I haven't built enough chops yet, but no card make makes me question the balance of this game or makes my blood boil more than Pryoblasts. But if all of you believe that pyro is well balanced and its fine to plan for your death at 19 against a mage, well then alright i accept that I suppose. any mod can lock this thread now if you want to, I got my answers, thank you.
well there is no way to protect your hero from fireball + pyroblast thats the problem lol
Healing is how you do that.
I cannot heal mid turn, the point is fireball+pyroblast is combo and theres no way to protect against it before the hammer comes down. maybe you can reflect damage with a secret card but thats only one class that can reflect attacks ( which i would love to see used in pro game vs mage so mage gets blown up :P)
Shadow bro I feel the bloods boil feel bro but its blizzard, play the OP and get ahead, don't try to reinvent the wheel, if you see one class > all because of cheese combos, play those cheese combos yourself and you won't be upset with the game. you play hearthstone because the game is fun and its nice to think about each move you play and its solo. playing card games is a match against yourself and you must use what you've been given to play the best hand possible. I was upset with mage decks owning me bro, but I played some mage deck with fireball and pyroblast and had fun with win streaks and moving ahead in ranked, we like to win, we hate to lose. So play to win man and don't get upset! we love you! we don't want you upset!

ts turn 7, I am outplaying my opponent, I've taken damage from my weapons and my opponent has almost no hope and is dead in 2-3 turns unless they do something.
Lets see its turn 7 and you are outplaying your opponent... but you have taken 20 damage this game? Also its turn 7 and you need 2-3 more turns to win the game... but you are outplaying your opponent?
I think this simply a skill issue or at least a misunderstanding on what outplaying the opponent is.
Think of this from a Mage's perspective, they have drawn Pyroblast sometime in the last 7 turns and before they even started playing they also knew Pyroblast was in the deck. So from the beginning, the Mage was aiming to get your life total to 10 and it was his strategy to do so. He played minions that needed to be killed, and if you took damage from a weapon attack or just a hit to the face - it was all the same to him. In actuality, you were being outplayed by him and not the other way around, you took 20 damage before turn 8 giving him the opportunity to kill you.
Just because your strategy was board control and dealing damage through attrition as your plan - does not make his plan any less relevant because it was different.
Secondly, its 8 mana for 10 damage just like Ragnaros is 8 damage for 8 mana, Gorehowl is 7 damage for 7 mana, King Krush is 8 damage for 9 mana, Lava Surge is 5 damage for 3 mana... you get where I am going? Notice how all the non-spell damage is deals less damage for similar mana because the threat remains on the board (to the exception of Gorehowl but its also cheaper and upgradable). Pyroblast is a one off spell, not a continual barrage like Ragnaros or a hasted massive minion like King Krush - it can not do the job twice. So it's compensated like all direct damage by doing more damage than the mana cost.
PS. Starfire is costed the same way other cantrip damage spells are, Damage = Spell cost - 1, just like Shiv.

Nozdormu wins you every game where you opponent has to go to the bathroom on turn 9.
The problem is, Pyroblast alone makes weapon strategies horrible and it makes classes like warrior have to play outside their design by having to use 2 mana to armor up every turn when your at 15 life, sometimes its just a lost cause. A potential solution to the pyroblast problem for Warriors is 2x Shield and perhaps armorsmith, which should allow them to stay out the 11 hp danger zone a little while longer while still using their weapons to face-tank.
All I know is when I get an opponent to use a fireball or a pyro on a high threat minion I feel good inside.
The warmth and cozy feel only a pyro can give ... when it kills a warsong commander.
As with MC, pyro has the same problem, with a better solution already implemented. For constructed it is fine, because you can prepare for it (you can't prepare for everything in the same deck, but can prepare for the most common counters to your deck). For arena it is OP, because you can't be sure to be prepared. Both are cards with no fun to play against in most occassions. At least pyro is epic, so I'm fine with it. (and yes, getting pyro trippled still sucks in arena)
I know you would hate it but really when you play against the Mage, you have to assume they can Pyroblast in turn 8 and cautiously manage your health to stay out of Pyro range. In arena, I admit its worse since anything could happen, if the Mage drafted a dream deck there is nothing we can do about it, and the same argument stands for all classes. But drafting Pyroblast with other cards not synergized to rush me down and kill me in turn 8? I can definitely deal with that.
Pyroblast is strong, but all classes get their strong card. If the Mage is too strong, it would be Ice Block that needed to look at, not Pyroblast.
I feel like Pyroblast is not the problem, yes is very strong and making it cost 9 probably would not hurt, but i can play around it. What i really really don't get is Ice Block. That is fucked up. That card is a Time Walk, and i feel there is a reason why that card was banned and is considered OP. They should remove Ice Block and Pyroblast would be totally fine.
I just wanted to add, I have now faced 10 or 11 mages in a row(lost count) with pyroblast in their deck. So like I said, it being an epic seems to not matter, the 2 most recent mages I faced I was 1 win no losses and I was 1-1. Unless I'm the unluckiest player vs mages, idk...Luckily I just beat the most recent mage I faced.

Pyroblast is core in many mage decks. Mage is balanced around that card, so players without it probably don't advance very far. If your deck is losing to pyroblast, you might consider adding some heals to it, or re-tuning it to be faster so that you're not taking as much damage from mages.

Pyro is NOT a problem, it's just the finisher. You can argue that mage is OP still, but your proposes nerfs would completely remove mage from play.
