Between Clerics and Commanders getting reduced to 2 health and Flame Imps hitting the Warlock for 3, suddenly the number of attractive targets for the Commando has gone up considerably.
Additionally, stuff like Holy Smite, Arcane Shot, Claw, Stormforged Axe, Backstab (As if it needed a boost) etc are all better now, too.
This isn't to say that Commando isn't still overpriced, just slightly less so now. :3
This post is mostly in response to people saying that the nerfs were to make these cards vulnerable to AoE, but realistically, they all become much more vulnerable to a huge array of other removal as well once reduced below the 3 health threshold.
I agree. And pretty much everyone knows that Fire Elemental is in a completely different stratum than the cards we're talking about here, lol. Now post-nerf, it's patently better than Argent Commander IMO. It was always a mainstay in Shaman decks, the only thing keeping it under control is the fact that it's not a generic card.
On my Warrior, I run Stormpike, Cleave, Pyro (with Whirlwind), and Arathi Weaponsmith. I've notice such a substantial increase in good trades with those cards. I misjudged the nerf somewhat on SSC as people are adapting (or maybe it was always there and not noticeable) to the 2 health cap.
The only reason I played Stormpike was for kicks with Warsong's charge. AC is still invaluable, you get an extra 2 attack for the drawback of being restricted to taunts. Stormpike has a place in some ways, but there are times you just wish you had an AC, with a class that is usually pumping out weapons and extra damage Stormpike isn't bad. It's far and few between, but it has a home - he's very slightly lacking in stats compared to a 4 mana 2/4 counterpart in Keeper of the Grove.

2 damage effects and weapons are so much better.

I am looking for a place for the Stormpike in my Paladin Deck also because of cards like Aldor Pacekeeper. Instead, of course, of AC...
...Too young to die, too drunk to live...
