I know what you must be thinking. Astral Communion buff... really?!?!
The effect is solid. It's a really fun card to play. Thijs showed us it IS potentially viable. Heck, I wish the card was moved to the Classic set. I mean, it opens up a whole different deck archetype. What really sucks is IF you manage to play it the first time around and get the mana boost, it's a complete dead card if you draw it (unless you draw and don't have any minions in your hand). Sometimes you have it in your hand early/mid-game and don't want to play it cause you'll have to discard minions you need.
I think you should have the option - Choose 1: go for the regular 10 mana/discard your hand effect OR just draw a card.
It's not a well balanced card though. When you CAN pull it off the deck becomes overwhelmingly strong. It's held back because it's inconsistent and unreliable. Which is fine to have. The problems occur when such a powerful card becomes reliable as well.
So really I wouldn't touch it at all. Also the entire point to formats is that we should never see a particular deck survive past 2 years, that we'll be forced to try new things and new strategies. We're trying to REMOVE decks that hinge on classic cards, so we can't add any new ones in there.
Fair points. I don't think adding a draw would make it reliable, per say. Closer to reliable... yeah, but it definitely would still have draw backs even with the draw. Just trying to make it viable, not just SLIGHTLY viable.
My take is I'd like as many different archetypes as possible.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
