Deathwing isn't popular. It's best if you're behind on board and have no cards in hand, and most decks try to avoid that.
On the other hand, as you've seen, it's useful, so you do see it in some meta.

If you find my posts to be rude, objectionable, or whatever, well, I got tired of writing polite TL; DR (Too Long, Didn't Read) posts at crybaby whiners. So now I just make it short and nasty.
If you find that funny, well and good. If you find that sad, that's even better.
No, Deathwing is only useful in very slow decks because of the 10 mana cost. Plus it's risky, he might get shot by the Big Game Hunter. You were playing Warrior, they tend to use all kinds of legendaries other classes don't, like Baron Geddon, Alexzstraza etc.
Most people go for Leeroy for their first legendary, or Cairne or Ragnaros. Leeroy is a great finisher when playing aggresive, Cairne is good in mid fight and Ragnaros is a great finisher for mid/slow decks.
I've ran into him a few times now on several ranked matches and even more on un-ranked. It's always.. A pleasant surprise to someone who isn't expecting a legendary out of nowhere.. *Sigh*
deathwing is pretty usefull on control decks. Basicly you 1st put all you big minion on the board to draw all of your opponents removels. Then empty your hand and give the idea that the game is lost so your opponents in all his arrogance commits to the board and also emptys his hand. Then drop Deathwing and Win. :) It doesn't happen often but its a great feeling when are able to pull it off.
Problem nowadays is that most decks don't care about having their board clear. They just burst damage your face for the win.
Misleading title maybe.
Was playing non-ranked matches to do finish a quest. Having a fairly easy time destroying this guy and then suddenly..
A wild Deathwing appears!
Is this a legendary that everyone goes for as soon as possible, or do I just have all the bad luck?
(hums Final Fantasy music)
A (fill in blank) has appeared!

I like Deathwing. I only play him in my ramp deck as my oh-shit card. Played him once I believe for that reason and he won me the game.
Good times.

"Ouch...!"
"We've fallen into a pit."
"Shucks..."
Loved that game! Ha!
