I'm trying to figure out which Taunt to use in my deck...
Essentially, on Turn 9, I have plans for 6 of my mana (I'm pretty new to building decks, but I read somewhere that a good method of building is to decide what cards you plan to play on each turn and include those, so I normally go by that philosophy). Involved in the spending of this 6 mana is one of the most important cards in my deck--something I'd like to protect as much as possible.
Now, I realize 3 mana on turn 9 isn't much to work with in terms of any sizeable protection, but I still have a small selection of Taunts to pick from:
What I'm trying to figure out is, is the 1 increased health on Silverback Patriarch enough to warrant using it over one of the other two despite the decreased attack? My goal is to offer my other cards as much protection as possible with 3 mana, and you never know when that 1 health might make a difference. Essentially, I'm wondering what the philosophies behind when you would pick any of these three cards over the other two is. <- point of my thread, after a very long introduction. :3
By turn 9 you can't count on any of them being more than a roadblock.
Instead, I would think about which you would rather see on Turn 3 if you don't mulligan into your preferred 3-drop. In general, that would mean the Ironfur Grizzly. However, if this is a rush deck, I would favor the Silverback Patriarch, and if it is a Mage deck I would favor Tauren Warrior.
If it's a Warrior deck, any of the three might do - and it would really depend on the other cards you have.
I would choose Shieldbearer or Sunfury too, over the primate. Good suggestions. SB would allow a 2 mana minion into play same turn, sunfury a 1 mana ... making your turn even stronger.
All of those cards are awful outside arena (and the tauren warrior is awful there too). You'll get more value out of a sunfury for 1 less mana. As others have said, the shieldbearer is also better than the 3 cards you listed. By turn 9, a creature with 1, 2 or 3 attack is just an inconvenience if not combined with others, especially on a taunter, so you want whatever gives the most value. This is the shieldbearer, or preferably a sunfury. Giving a higher hp creature taunt is much more valuable than forcing a 2 or 3 cost creature to 1 for 1 or 1 for 0 your taunter.

If you're on coin, and your major plan revolves around turn 9, then hold the coin and use Mogu'shan Warden - He can be a right p.i.t.a to remove.
