Taunts have less impact on the game with all the Rush minions running around. Even so, there are less taunts because most of the good ones rotated out. Magic Carpet, Lackeys and all the other Rush minions means that playing a taunt no longer buys you an extra turn like it used to. I thought the 6 mana Twinspell in Hunter was too slow, but have come to realize that its far superior because it impacts the board immediately and sometimes gets to trade for free.
Taunts slow the game down and/or enable aggro to keep their minions protected from being traded into for free. We no longer have high health taunts on all the mana costs like we did. Even Saronite Chain was ridiculous because it summoned 2 taunts.
I know this thread is out dated, but I find it interesting that having more taunts wouldn't matter anyhow, considering the amount of removal and rush minions running around, especially in Hunter and Warrior. And plenty of neutral options too.
I think having more Taunt minions simply leads to more polarizing matches anyhow. If the taunt minion is too good, it will be played everywhere like Tar Creeper and Zilliax. If its narrow in focus, it will be played in every single control deck, like the 8 cost Dragon. I like having taunt options to curb aggro decks, but with decks like Tempo Rogue running around, taunts have far less impact on the board.

ex-Quest Warrior players:
There are taunts. I'm going to be running beligerent gnome and proud defender for the earlyish game.
After all the cards were released we can confirm that there are no cards to replace the anti-agro low cost taunts rotating out ( Stonehill Defender , Tar Creeper , Saronite Chain Gang ,
Theare only neutral taunts we have in standard to fight agaist agro is Proud Defender - 4 mana cost.
We have also Hecklebot - but its a 6 mana cost and will sumon a minion in the board.....
Theres also 2 more neutral taunt minions but they cost 6 or higher so they wont be able to stop agro.
This will be a agro oriented meta for shure!
You care only about taunt and not draw mechanich ? LUL
Proud defender is broken though.
Where are they? I am asking for the dragons
