Reno Priest and Reno Mage are even more inconsistent even though they are not as dependent to Reno, they don't have draw mechanic and need to get khazakus/Reno/Raza the chained and of course, fewer board clears resulting in a bunch of losses to a common big board.
And that is the reason why reno decks are packed with so much board clears amd control tools. To increase their chances against big boards. Its not just kazakus, raza and reno. You are loudly speaking about and against 3 cards and not considering decka in whole. Card draw is an issue hence a lot of board clears. They balance the deck.
Actually, it's not useless. You definitely don't play it early since you want to play Mountain Giant/Twilight Drake so you want the extra card in your hand. Playing it early is 100% a mistake. The 4 health actually can be relevant especially if you're in Jaraxxus mode, or haven't drawn into Reno for some reason and scared of a burst. This card in control matchup is definitely more useful late game than playing it early.
If Renolock I agree, but I thinking in Renomage, it is better play that in first turn than later in Renomatchs.

Can't wait for Reno to rotate out, hate thoose braindead decks when all you do is pray for Reno on T6 and just remove threats with spells before you put down big minions.
Bye Reno!!

A lot of misunderstanding of control decks ITT. The real truth is, aggro decks feel brainless to control players (LUL ME GO FACE, MUCH SKILL) and reno decks feel brainless to aggro players (OH WOW, TURN 6 RENO WIN THE GAME, SO HARD), and in both of those matchups, they're probably correct. Generally though, aggro is a game of calculation and control a game of resource management. It might seem like 'omg of course you fucking have lethal' but maybe it's because they were holding a couple of burn spells in hand until they did in fact have lethal. It might seem like 'omg of fucking course you have Flamestrike as soon as I put a bunch of minions out,' when in fact that's EXACTLY what they were waiting for and why they were willing to take 3 to 4 turns of face damage before.
tl;dr Both sides are right.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
Inconsistency is part of the nature of the deck. If Reno Mage and Reno Priest were more consistent, they would feel even more oppressive than the Patches decks. Even though I'm bad at the game, I enjoy all aspects and matchups that exist. I enjoy the Reno mirror, and I also enjoy playing both the proactive and reactive role. However, I really don't understand all this vitriol for the Reno decks. They're all very difficult to play and even more difficult to build, as netdecking the build is not simply enough to perform well with the deck. They don't just "pray" for Reno on six. I've won games without Reno, but that's also when my Pirate Warrior opponent went Buccaneer into War Axe into Frothing into Kor'kron. To me, curving out in that fashion is just as unfair as having a 20-point heal on turn six. Calling a deck "braindead" is pretty callous and also limiting to your own thought process.
Agree with you OP. I also don't want to play 20 minute 'chess' games. Can't wait for Reno to rotate.
In on 2 minute "Hello, me go face" games!

Then you play aggro Shaman? Favored against every deck except mage.
