Fellow EU players, this is a thread of preemptive crying and speculation on the LoE launch today on our beloved EU server:
What will go wrong today?
I get started:
1. Blizzard obviously will launch the game at exactly 19.00 CEST, the very moment everybody is coming home from work, school, university and whatnot, resulting in the obvious server crash and numerous tweets with a surprised undertone: "Servers are getting hit pretty hard today [what kind of genius would have guessed that] we are very sorry for the inconvenience [no you are not, because otherwise you would have changed the situation a long time ago, and you don't even give us free packs for your wrongdoings you greedy shits]"

As someone working in the IT I hate guys like you and you don't know how hard it is to handle it when masses try to join a server at the same time. Probably student, unemployed, no real life experience.
Did I say the IT is a stressful job? No (even though it is, but whatever).
WIth the average servers they have (which are already INSANE) they can not handle an insane amount of people. It is simply not possible. To handle tons of players your servers must be an insane, extreme expensive amount. Your silly money won't comprehend that costs, I just did a cost accounting for our few servers in my company, those prices are already insane.
And because you decide to give them money they should waste more money than that to have way more bigger and more expensive servers to comprehend a single peak every once in a while? Because guys like you can't wait one or two hours and stay calm for something like this? You are silly. Of course it's in the end a maximum profit "issue"...but lil' kid, that is how fucking business works, and only because of minor problems for some hours you would be fucking stupid to decrease your profit. Please, NEVER get in a management position if you don't get that shit together.
But that's humanity. The big part that is poor and dumb as hell always sees the leading environment as the evil while they have no clue of how life works. All they want is something for free, they want it fast, they only care 'bout themself. You idiot have the choice not to give them your money if you are unhappy, but hey, you will do it anyway. And you will cry again. And you still don't know how the IT works. Or anything else. Probably due to the land you come from, as the country is way behind.
You are probably someone crying over bugs, too. Once you programmed something bigger by yourself you will know why bugs happening at release. You can't handle every bug, you can not even test all possibilities where bugs could happen as the wierdest things change everything.
But whatever....more intelligence, less everything else, thx.
guys, this was meant to be more or less a joke with answers like: there is no LOE at all, or Ben Brode publicly castigating himself, or whatnot
and to all the "IT is sooo difficult, get a job kiddo,..."-answers: i got a job, and if I would screw up things as Blizzard screws up launches, i would just get fired ... and if we really want to take this onto a serious place: I still have a lot of trouble understanding why the big problems always hit EU (and this is like that since the beginning of the game)....
in EU the adventure will be release the friday 13 so we get acostumed to the hack and slash of the server :) ( i read at 12:00 pm atleast will be a good hour)
Well are you telling me that - diablo 3 servers worldwide lag the hell out in greater rifts (only progression endgame) and if you got higher density (mobs not spread but grouped) in higher rifts (more abilities, more color from spells, more particles) the servers lag the hell out.
They fixed it with removing the density from most Rift types and leaving groups with enough particles to reach 30 fps with Alienware PC 2014th...
This is your financial planning from Blizz nowadays - WoW subs down from 10.4 mln to 5.4 mln active subs, adding shop content each month and game content 3 times an year. You want more? :)
But the person that answered is an IT and financial guru and knows all about this and posts in forums in his spare time in the back seat of his limo... XD
I knew it, you have no clue of IT.
The GRIFT problem has NOTHING to do with the servers. It's due to the way the game is made, a massive failure they cannot change that easily...but guys like you go on and say "FIX THIS BLIZZ ME MONEYS GIVE U". You don't even know the problem behind that, and if someone tells you the problem behind that you will not understand the problem.
Beside that, when you buy the adventure you can read the agreements, you probably haven't done this before as no one really does. When they tell you the adventure starts on the 12th November they don't have to release it for you on the 12th. There are no contractual obligations as your contract you signed virtually does not say the release date must be on the 12th. So they don't have to for you greedy players, as greedy as Blizz is.
Of course that problems appear most of the time (while it did not on Naxx and BRM release as you refer, I remember the releases and they were almost perfect) when that mass of players trys to join. Do you even know how DDOS works and the amount of infected pieces you only need to do this properly? The amount is a joke compared to the players that wanted to play Diablo on release. The players are simply DDOsing Blizzard with every release. The players are the problem. They will never be able to handle these release problems when the hype is as big as it always is. Why aren't you understanding this? And then it's the problem of no lifers, that have nothing else to do and must play directly on release, they restart and restart and restart instead of waiting. Of course the whole fucking system crashes then. I guess only Facebook and Google servers could handle such a storm of people as they have servers around the whole world each one of the size of Blizzards whole servers probably.
If you can't understand this nobody will help you. Go and play other games where this does not happen (as the playerbase is a joke compared to this), stay out of forums and be silent.
Don't think that if you're 20-22 year old rich IT after 10-12 years you won't be the one that is who I manage as a team of so-called programmer boys when you're not competitive with the new programs and coding.
Typical sentence who knows nothing about the IT as you never reach the maximum, the IT never stops. Nothing is faster than the IT development.
You are jsut a typical Blizzard cryer. As I said, just don't play their games and spare the world from your stupidity. Btw, this is not my Sparetime, I can do this while working, IT job advantages...getting payed for telling you, you are a greedy boy.
Feel free to report this, everyone with some sort of brain know I am right. And even if I would be banned...honestly, you think that would hurt me?
Honestly, reading your newest post, naive and dumb guys like you make me really rage hard. Because you get paid tons of money you must be able to fix everything before it could occur? Get your shit right, get to the fucking real life in a non middle class job and you will break. You will just break. I also get payed a lot and don't have to look at my money, I worked hard for that shit and still problems happen where I don't know what to do and have to evaluate what I could do. That sometimes takes hours before I start working at all. That is how life works. And these guys definetly know what they are doing yet they don't get it fixed all the time, but they are dumb? They are all wiser than you, that's definetly not hard. You make me rage that hard, you are pure stupidity, nothing else. Go report me, just do it. Dear Mods, do whatever you want, but this guy deserves nothing.

In all fairness they could fix this by implementing a better round robin type system, or break EU up into two server farms. But they're just not going to do this for something that only happens a couple times a year. Maybe if the game wasn't free to play they would.
and to all the "IT is sooo difficult, get a job kiddo,..."-answers: i got a job, and if I would screw up things as Blizzard screws up launches, i would just get fired ... and if we really want to take this onto a serious place: I still have a lot of trouble understanding why the big problems always hit EU (and this is like that since the beginning of the game)....
Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep high availability when you have ~20 million users hitting a server at the same time? They're not going to invest millions of additional dollars for expansions that launch 2-3 times a year. The issue really is that too many people are playing on the EU server farm, but if they broke it up into different regions people would complain.
why would they give you free packs?,,,you sound like an entitled brat
omg, I called my post "preemptive crying" and thaught it would be very clear that it is at least in part irony... but hey, there is always the serious hard working men out there, telling entitled brats like me what to do: THANK YOU SIR! [and now, do something useful and throw money at Blizzard in order to give me the possibility to rage about f2p games in my endless freetime]
Well are you telling me that - diablo 3 servers worldwide lag the hell out in greater rifts (only progression endgame) and if you got higher density (mobs not spread but grouped) in higher rifts (more abilities, more color from spells, more particles) the servers lag the hell out.

Why do you have to act like you are above people?, what puts you in a position to judge some one else's knowledge, and even if you are more informed why do you act like that makes you more important, You and INEED3QUID need to stop being soo full of yourselves :D, BITCH YOU AINT THAT SPECIAL

No, they don't know that, and they know nothing about Cost-performance accounting. But they all think they are smart like milan3z3. That are the guys you want to kill when talking to them in your job.

ok, but why on earth do they launch their content at exactly rush hour (19.00 cest last time) if this is the case ... I honestly think they don't care enough!
Yeah, but I am in the financial sector - here the deadline must be reached and nothing got to be delayed or we loose money at every second.
Your perspective is one, but mine is that money are given for an exchange.
Quoting myself: I have the option to spend money and I use it, but when I pay I want to receive quality for the paid amount. Not to mention nowadays Blizz achieved Steam model - early access (HoTS - 50$, WoW preorder - 60$ , Overwatch preorder - 60$, SC preorder - 60$).
Why they hype that release is at that date, that time and can't handle the servers. Since from your perspective I am an no-lifer. OK, then for the purpose of this conversation elt's say I am (usually i take day or two off release, since I play only Blizz games and they release new content every 2-3 monts - I see no problem with this being no-life, if you do your problem.). My statement is Blizzard is getting paid and promises a release - yeah no one says it's perfect.
But I expect at least playable game - not lag fest issues, since as far my last experiences with Blizzard resulted in that 2014 - WoD and D3:RoS and now TGT opener lag and unplayable content. I can bare an announce it will be laggy and lag is expected to wait, but due to my tight shifts I got 1 days mostly to enjoy the content and prefer it on open (why advertise it when you can't handle it).
Do you see for example any football match not starting - 60 000 people for example on UEFA CL, or the TV that provides the stream for viewers to get a technical issue. Why there are no problems and Blizzard nearly always has problems :) I am out of arguing - going for a nolifer beer. GL & HF
If haven't read you are in the financial sector, now I see the problem.
The same in my company. Financial Sector says: DO IT. We say: Shut up, it's not possible. They say: THEN DO IT.
It's probably the problem of the financial sector. But then be quiet and don't even try to discuss that it MUST work if you don't have the technical knowledge.
A game not starting in the UCL happened before, will happen again. Like the collapsing goal 1997(I guess).
TL;DR: Players technically DDoS Blizzard all the time. Go to Wikipedia and read something about it. This problem will still be there in a long time. Even the most intelligent server administrators will not be able to prevent this.
Why would Blizzard do something like double if not triple their server costs for a timeframe that barely covers 1% of their uptime ? That is simply not sane nor realistic.
