This Sunday July 7th, 1:00 PM PSTa multi-round open Hearthstone Constructed Tournament will be hosted on the Cockatrice client and will be the first Swiss style tournament to not see double elimination. The Coin will go to the player playing second.
Tournament Format Rounds will be done based on attendance with a cut based on attendance as well. As per the listing below:
Players Rounds Cut 4-8 4 Top 2 9-16 5 Top 4 17-22 6 Top 8 23-36 7 Top 8 37-52 8 Top 16
All matches will be best-of-one with a time limit of 30 minutes. Should a match exceed 30 minutes a 4 turn clock will come into effect and a Organizer will come to ensure the clock is met. This clock will always end on the player who is going second. At the end of this time the player with the most health will win the game. This is being implemented to simulate the turn timer active in the game itself.
The top cut will be single elimination best-of-three with a 1 hour time limit to the match. If any game ends in a draw game both players will be given a double loss unless it is a final game for the top cut. Players are expected to use the same deck through out the entire event should a player be caught changing his deck before a match he will be disqualified from the event. Additionally all players are requested to submit deck lists prior to the top cut to Vault(HS Vault) to ensure that decks are not modified during the cut and will be posted for players to view the lists going into the cut should a player so choose.
Should there be a ruling argument over how a card works of a mechanic works the most recent blue post will be the active ruling. If there is no blue post regarding the ruling, it will fall on an active TO or judge for the event to make the final call.
Banned List
1) Adrenaline Rush 2) Nozdormu
The banned list is subject to change should there be any changes to the pre-beta release.
For people who actually wish to know how the tie breakers will work / top cut seeding will be done you are welcome to view the cze tournament policys and such via the link below:
Thanks to everyone that participated. Everything turned out well and I hope people had fun today. To prevent confusion in the future as far as how the tournament works, we're going to switch to Single Elimination Bo3 to keep things simple for everyone from now on.
Sounds great! You're probably working on this already, but do you think it would be possible to provide a (comprehensive) overview of which decks were used, especially from the semi's onward? Very interested to see what decks were so consistent.
